Metric Conversions Made Easy | How Solve in Metric Conversions w/ Dimensional Analysis (Vid 1)

Metric conversions made easy when solving with dimensional analysis. Metric conversions require you to know how to convert lbs (pounds) to kg (kilograms), tsp (teaspoons) to Tbsp (tablespoons) .etc and using the formula for dimensional analysis makes solving metric conversions very easy. This tutorial shows how to solve basic conversion problems using dimensional analysis. Liters to milliliters, teaspoons to tablespoons and I show how to set-up the problems.

Mind you, I suck at math and haven’t had a math class in years so I’ve been searching all night for videos that made sense to me and this one finally did. Thank you so much.

I just want to say you have saved me! I am entering a nursing program after 3.5 years off from school... Needless to say, my math is rusty and we have to know dosage on day 1. I was not able to take the summer dosage class, so I am self teaching with 4 kids in tow, and didn't have a clue on where to start. I found your videos this afternoon and I have already memorized the metric table and passed your first quiz with a 96% within a few hours. Your method is extremely simple and breaks it down in ways I am able to understand. Thank you so much for all of your hard work and all of the resources you have given us!

Hi Sara, I love your accent and I think you’re so pretty lol but quick question, why didn’t you just use the conversion 30mL=1oz? And work it out that way? Just wondering why you did the extra step

I should’ve read the comments before asking the exact same question! I prefer to keep things as simple as possible.

Same. I know how to do it, walking through it but once the paper is in front of me, it takes a while for it to come to me

Are these questions that will be on the entrance exam?

It depends, but most entrance exams will ask you to metric conversion problems. When I took the HESI A2 it did. Best wishes!

im sitting here crying bc my dosage exam is on the 12th. ive been studying for hours each day and while i understand most of it, i cant seem to apply it. i open up practice problems and i completely blank. my school doesnt offer tutoring or a class. we have to teach it to ourselves and pass an exam (100%) to get into clinicals. i paid $63 for access to an online program and it doesnt help at ALL. its the worst program ive ever had to use. its full of busy work and it doesnt offer any visual learning. it seriously had a quiz asking things like how many eggs are in a dozen. (like i said, its full of busy work rather than helpful work). ive been mindlessly clicking on videos, watching them, and taking notes. i dont feel like im learning anything bc i cant apply my knowledge to practice problems. i feel helpless.

Tips for anyone experiencing this: first, take a breath. You'll find that overstressing just makes the problem worse. Don't pay for any sort of online program. I have not found a single one that has been helpful to me. Instead, get a med calc book. I taught myself using calculate with confidence 6th edition. If you're having issues understanding something in the book, look up problems on youtube, such as this channel. The book shows you different methods of working out the problem, and it gives you the answers at the end of the chapter so you can check your work. Keep going over as many problems as you can, even if you know it. It helps you not freeze up or second guess yourself on exams.
