Learn Metric Units & Unit Conversions (Meters, Liters, Grams, & more) - [5-8-1]

More Lessons: www.MathAndScience.com
Twitter: / jasongibsonmath
In this lesson, you will learn the units of the metric system and how the metric system is organized. We will learn the units of length (meters, centimeters, kilometers), units of volume (liter, milliliters), and units of mass (grams, kilograms). Once we understand the metric prefixes and how they work, it is easy to know how these units relate to each other. Using these conversion factors, we will convert from one unit into another unit using dimensional analysis. Dimensional analysis is used for unit conversions, but it is also used in physics, chemistry, engineering, and math to solve more complex problems.

    I once had the privilege to go to a skidoo safari with a couple of US university professors here in Europe. We needed to make a 2,5% gas oil mix for the skidoos and it was entertaining to watch 2 professors first convert and then try to calculate the ratios with imperial units... We had two 10 liter canisters of gas and a liter of two stroke oil each. They ended up just pouring an estimated amount of oil into each gas canister. For me it was easy, 0,25l (2,5dl) oil to 10l gas is about 2,5%.

  • @WojciechChojnacki

    @WojciechChojnacki

    3 жыл бұрын

    0,25l oil with 9,75l gas is 2,5% oil rich mix (since 10l total is 100%), but I guess 10l gas and 0,25l oil should be close enough (2,439024390243902%).
