I noticed receding hairline a year or two ago and I would say that the thing that helped me (besides hair masks and oils) was that I place my bun lower and every time I put my hair up I loosen the part around my hairline so there is no tention. The parting doesn't matter at all if you do that. Also, with long hair it helps if your front pieces are shorter (face framing pieces) so they don't carry as much weight. 🙂

Another thing that triggers hairline loss is constant & excessive heat as when blowdrying. I was a sleek bangs fan when I was young, & had naturally curly hair. I used to do touchups every day, two & three times a day, for many years. Then I started applying relaxers close to the scalp without protecting my scalp. I stopped, but don't have that volume I used to have. I'm lucky I have hair today, but it is thin & fragile. All I'm tryng to say here for whoever reads this is what not to do. Good luck to all! GB..

It doesn’t itch, it’s just a habit I developed way back in middle school when I had lice and then continued doing it to pick at dandruff… I don’t have those problems anymore, but I still have the habit of picking and scratching after all these years. Idk why, but it’s soothing and I really want to stop. I’m gunna get some caster oil and stop scratching and see if that helps it grow back.

Hi Keren! Just want to say first your awesome! I’ve been noticing my hair thinning when I realized when I would sweep my bathroom and bedroom floor, I would get a big ball of hair every time. Almost every week! This was towards end of 2018. Then all throughout 2019 I started looking at my usual hair parts and starting to realize they look wider and more noticeable. Towards the end of 2019, I notice rescinding hairlines towards the back of my head towards the start of the neck and also just overall thinning of my hair all around. I can see my scalp more than ever. Every time I put my hair in a ponytail or braid I freak out because it’s so thin and I used to have very think hair that a thick hair tie won’t even be able to hold it. Now I have switched to a thin hair tie. I don’t know if it is lack of sleep, stress, or the pillows cases or pillows I’m using or my diet. Any advise would greatly be appreciated to grow back hair. I hesitate on using oil because my hair is naturally oily.

i’m only 16 but i have a receding hairline. i have terrible anxiety, and i used to rip my hair out when i would get nervous or fidgety. luckily, i am able to control myself now, and i don’t rip my hair out anymore. however, now i am missing a lot of hairline hair and i have no clue how to fix it. it makes me so sad that i can’t wear my hair the same way that my friends do. sometimes i don’t even do my hair because i’m scared that i’ll accidentally rip out the few hair i have. i used to have thick, curly hair and now it’s a thin mess.

I went through a similar problem a couple of years ago. I would get really stressed out and my hands would go straight to my hair. I lost quite a lot of thickness on the left, front side of my head and every time I put it up in a ponytail, parts of my scalp would be visible. I also lost a lot of my original hair length due to this issue. For about 2 years I literally couldn't do much with my hair. I would get so many comments on how my hair looked and I would always panic if I had to go out somewhere because I literally didn't know how to hide it, besides using a claw clip. I can totally relate to how you compared your hair to other people's hair. It took me while to reverse this habit and over these 2 years I have been taking better care of it. Some parts of my hair are different lengths but I'll eventually cut it so its all even. I really hope that your mental health has gotten better and you find ways to love and nurture you hair as it grows back ❤

I'm noting thinning on the sides of my head by the ears and my eyebrows and legs are not growing back as fast maybe cause of the cold here in New England I'm always wrapped up. Being from California where it is sunny nearly all year round. I'm thinking it's a nutritional deficiency protien and vitamin D, as well as low estrogen, and of course age/heriditary factors. Masks are great and all but hair is better helped by nutrition in my opinion. I'm trying to eat more protien, we'll see how it goes.
