Another great job done with resourcefulness. As long as that old copper doesn't slit the poly. I like the use of the cable puller.👌 Its good the old stuff came out

Yes everything came out so no worries! We thought it had a short copper tail at the main but it ended being plastic as well. Merry Christmas!

Great work, I do not miss digging in that Clay in Christian County.

Why risk contamination by tying on under filthy Water? Or chance of rocky silt malfunctioning the Water meter itself? Good job though, I miss that since my Shoulder surgery for not having a digging machine. My Shovel and I!

Main to meters are always fun! Can't wait for the leakers to happen this winter... I wish our services and main were that shallow as well, 7-10ft on average here in Minnesota to stay below the frost line. Twin cites are still stuck on copper.. maybe one day they will switch to poly I hope.

Ductile Iron for mains?

Nice.

I would think you would have a nut drive for the set screw. Maybe hook up main side first then you can flush it out before hooking up service.

We usually do carry nut drivers for those but the suckers like a 10mm socket, Ya can't ever find it when needed! We also did pull the meter and flush the line on this being it was under water. we do that anyway just incase you stir some sediment up.

We just shut off the Corp stop on that. They don't have an actual "riser" per say on those in that village because they are in the street so unfortunately they have to be dug to operate. Thanks for the sub! Hope you have a great holiday season!

use a flat screw driver when you tight the top bolt of the union thank me later :) nice job tho i work for a company that works for the city we repair broken pipes and change galvanized pipes for coper ! love to see other people doing the work !

nut driver or socket

IM in Washington about to do my water main. What did you use? I thought doing a water main was copper? And do you have any videos of how to connect copper to the main?

That was 3/4 polypropylene pipe that is copper tube size. Where I work during the day, we use copper on all connections to the main. Same principal pretty much.

I recently started watching. Is the Ditch witch excavator your personal machine? Was this video with the city or was it one of your jobs?

What size was that poly? The video made it look like ½ inch.

That was 3/4" copper tube size poly.

Did you take out blue and put black pipe back in in because all we ever use is blue poly pipe and never have any problems

We use the new Endopoly I believe it is as well. This was also a CTS poly but the blue we took out is really thin and splits for some reason. It was installed in the 70's

How are you going to fix the meter yoke when it leaks when you don’t have a curb stop on the DF!

We put that curb stop there. It wasn't in there to begin with. Very few pits have curbstops outside of them around here. I understand the redundance but we rarely have to do anything with the setters or shutoffs in our area. We can freeze, pinch, or just work the live if need be.

We do, alot of comments on hooking that line up under water... The service was flushed thoroughly after it was hooked up. No different than a main being shut down, repaired, and then put back online and flushed. Systems are tested daily for problems.

@@Buttcheeksss yes it's a good size machine. Small enough to get in tight spots but enough power to tear up stuff too! Lol

Poly ethylene is better than poly butylene poly b cost shell oil company over a billion dollars job security for plumbers in California years ago we were getting blue water from the drought they were pulling copper lines out putting poly ethylene

So hook it up under dirty water smart 🤦‍♂️

It was flushed after being hooked up. Same way we do mains when we have a break.

Well one dryed the hole exposed the corp better poured chorine over ther corp and in the service and then after it was flushed and hooked up tested three times for bacteria like any new service should be

@@12345cse not being argumentive at all seriously. I've been working with municipal water in my area for about 9 years now and have never seen any chlorinating or testing on individual services either residential or commercial. New mains around here are done that way definitely but not anything smaller than about 1.5" just purge with clean water until clean. It takes us sometimes 48 hours to get our bacteria test results on our new mains. Hard to leave someone without water that long altogether.

Wow you ain’t fooling me I mean the pulling of the service was good but how they took the Corp nut off under water ruined the whole video!! Being lazy!! And not pumping that little bit of muddy ass water out not good Been in the trade for many many years !! You should never do that ! Hope you went and drank that water after you were done !! Very lazy and sloppy at the end !!!! Take 5 more minutes and get that water out from around the main!! Even if they shut the valve off at the meter before that charged it ,,,,, all that dirty ass water still going into there service and house lines etc!!!!! Not good....

We always flush the lines after doing this. If it's not the muddy water getting in it, it's dirt somewhere else. We never let straight dirty water go to the house. Flush it before the meter goes in usually does good then we always go to the outside spigot on the house as another precaution. I do understand what your saying though. Thanks for watching and always appreciate constructive advice!

Tim McArdle ok cool! Well maybe you should’ve put that in the Video! Cause from what I saw there was no signs of a flush being put in , and i don’t see any way of putting a flush on after you put that pit in ,,but hey if you did..great!! It’s just what I saw but still trying to tie that into the Corp under all that water ? .. Good job man! I’ll be watching more videos honestly it was just what I saw so it is what it is ... you post the Video right....

@@jmasca05masca92 I appreciate it man, I only started doing these about a year ago and every video we figure out something we should have done/ or recorded. I really enjoy putting them together and we enjoy doing the jobs most of the time. Lol. This was just a side job for a village near my town. I actually work for our local water dept on distribution for my day job. Thanks again!

Could of pulled enough slack to make the connection above the water. Take out the slack and hook up the meter last.. Oh well...
