    Has nothing to do with deduction. A party trick. Derren Brown used the same trick against 9 chess players. Look it up. The clue here is looking at one, or knowing at least one of the clues (someone working with him in audience). So when he says it is the hall and opens up the card he is then looking at the card which has the perpetrator written on it. He then goes on pretending to think about who the perpetrator is and then picks up the card which has the weapon written on it.
