Metaphor ReFantazio Is SO MUCH MORE Than Just A Persona Spinoff

Metaphor ReFantazio is Atlus' next big JRPG, and while it has many similarities with the Persona series, there are also a lot of differences between the two. Metaphor is every bit as stylish and grand as its Persona siblings, but here we dive deep into the many aspects that help distinguish Metaphor ReFantazio from its super popular Persona relatives. Make no mistake, we're all looking forward to Persona 6, but DO NOT overlook the upcoming Metaphor ReFantazio, as it is shaping up to be an incredible JRPG in its own right, even though it doesn't carry with it the Persona name.

Ps2 games are tedious af at times let's be real here. Damn near need a diary to keep up with nocturne and I looovveee 4. Just 5 is easily the best start for those who never played. If you do emulate 4 play as gunner it's so much damn fun

The lack of romance is an instant W, SMT has no romance bullshit and they're some of the best JRPGs out there If you really cannot appreciate or enjoy a game because you cannot romance its characters you need serious help tbh

I think the romance thing is overblown, I don’t think most people really care. Plus the romance element is the more understated thing in Persona games. I only affects like 4 scenes at most lol. Dont get trigger by a vocal minority

UI is amazing, story is interesting and as a huge fan of Persona I will pick this up as I wait for P6!

I think it's fine. The point of a new IP is to try out new ideas. If the focus on the game is kingdom building, there hasn't been a game with that focus in a long time, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm looking forward to the class system since there hasn't been a skill tree since Digital Devil Saga. I'm a little mixed on the calendar coming back, but I'm willing to see how it plays out.

I'm still on the PS4 but this is the only game I'm willing to buy a PS5 for. Not a fan of what Atlus has done with DLC or re releases but I'll be damned if they don't make some killer rpgs.
I just wish it came with a physical version for ps4
With all this freedom in game, I hope it has multiple endings to it. With how you can’t finish all the places in one play through, it makes me wonder how important they will be to the story.

Because they do not experience videogames as a genuine art form but rather as a replacement for their own real life experiences, they want to recreate in videogames that which they cannot live in the real world, instead of appreciating th game for what it will become, they're complaining because they won't be able to psychologically project as with Persona, they use games exclusively as a way to vent their own personal failings and it's extremely petty

@@Lonewulf321 why? by simply saying the truth? losing interest in a game or gaining a negative perception from it just because it lacks dating mechanics is not a normal reaction, it's not a universal QOL mechanic that we can all agree on, it's a mechanic that caters to a very specific group of people and getting so pressed over its absence does genuinely indicate underlying personal issues

Not really people can have reasons to play and not play a game. Romance, gameplay or story are not it/aren't in the game. Like I like FE14 but I will not play it again because the maps are shit.
The lack of romance is not a deal breaker, at all. Atlus needed to switch things up.
I wish final fantasy returns to it's root and be like this game also metaphor looks sooo SICK MAN ☺

I know another game with time so limited you can't do everything, a strategy rpg for 3ds, stella glow, and it compensates by giving triple the time in new game+, while do want to know what carries over in metaphor cause most atlas games have that these days, I hope there is a way to see more on repeat playthroughs, like a ng+ exclusive key item that speeds up the base so you don't spend as much time traveling?

Never heard of the game but that sounds fascinating. I'm thinking the developers of Metaphor wanted to give players additional incentives to play through the game again by offering dungeons and locations that one cannot simply do all of them across one playthrough.

I think not having romance is actually kind of refreshing considering I always just end up choosing to romance because it allows me to see more cutscenes rather than because I genuinely want to.

I'm not a Persona fan at all because pf the whole school thing, but I will be picking up Metaphor because it has a more darker tone. I just wish Atlas would stop being lazy and making all their JRPG'S a copy of Persona and actually make something brand new with NEW!..mechanic. 👀
Just hopefully they stop making us answer questions in the middle of the story that both answer with yes I'm so tired of that shit then I have to hit auto while I listen to 2 hours of dialog after completing a dungeon

Romance really makes 0 sense here, not only plot wise but game design wise. You would have to have every female character (or at least most) be written in a way so that she is romantically vialbe for the plot, leaving out more intresting character development

Exactly this. Because we can expect romancing in Persona 6, my hope is that these confidants/social links have SOME sort of acknowledgment in the story. I feel like all these social links in Persona are so isolated in some ways
thank god there’s no romance, my most disliked feature in persona
Anyone who’s actually salty about not being able to date teenagers in the game should probably be investigated
