Reign in blood vs master of puppets is easily the hardest for me. I think I have to go with reign in blood tho, just because it had so much influence on extreme metal.

It’s SOOOO the hardest. It’s their best albums, but I get more joy out of listening to Reign as a whole album. It’s just one long song with many parts to me
I pretty much agree with every head to head you've done here. The toughest one for me was South of Heaven vs ...And Justice For All. Both bands are just legendary!

@@thephoenixcycle8854 lol bad take imo
This is a tough one. Slayer while a bit repetitive, is more consistent. Metallica while having more variety, is really only good on the first 5 albums. I'm going with Slayer on this one.

I’d take the variety Metallica gives, especially with the changes in album tones even early on, each one has a unique feel. I also like their 90s stuff more than others so that’s just me

I go back to slayer more
It's funny how your computer wallpaper is Repentless but that album lost haha I love Death Magnetic, I don't understand why people think it's so mediocre, it's one my fav Metallica albums too
I prefer slayer so far
First 4 Metallica albums i would argue are the best 1st 4 albums by any band, it was scary what zone they were in, Reign Blood is the only Slayer album that can compete with Metallica's golden era. After that Slayer pretty much beats them.

I don’t like Ride The Lightning that much. I like the other three big albums I like more.

Not really. After seasons in the abyss Slayer didn't do much. It's like many bands that lose their creativity. All of the songs started sounding too much alike. That's what separates them from Metallica. Metallica has evolved. Many hardcore fans say they sold out but they actually evolved. Not one Metallica album has been horrible. Not even St Anger.
@drumkit666
Жыл бұрын
@@allenbass6169 disagree with you a little bit St. Anger is not that good, Load and Reload was to take the best from each then you really would have a great album. Slayer worst album is better then St Anger any day of the week, i give Metallica credit for taking chances to me the results are mixed.
I agree it's almost impossible to beat early Metallica, even the mighty Slayer. Slayer's catalog is deeper and more consistent. The early brilliance of Metallica gives them the edge. However, I would probably take Reign In Blood over Master Of Puppets head to head. Very close.
Ride the Lightning is better than Hell Awaits, but other than that, Slayer easily defeats Metallica.
That Master of Puppets vs. Reign in Blood is an almost impossible choice to make, but I think you made the right one. I’m almost entirely with you, except for …AJFA, which is my favorite Metallica album. But even that choice is tough, as it’s up against the incredible South of Heaven. The last one is tough, too, with repentless vs hardwired.
Another idea for this series: Sodom vs Kreator
Slayer has been the most consistent. South of Heaven is probably my favorite album by either of these bands, it Seasons, ...And Justice for All, Master, Ride the Light king are all phenomenal.
Kill'em All, Ride The Lightning, Reign In Blood, And Justice For All, Black Album...After that all Slayer by a huge margin.
The Cruelty and the Beast album cover is fucking slaying in the background 🔥 super sick
🔥 🤘 SLAYER!!! 🤘 🔥
A well thought out and tastefully phrased argument, but.... FOOKIN' SLAYER!!! as you were...
I prefer Slayer. The only Metallica I like is 80’s.

Me too. 80s Metallica is fantastic.
1 - Show No Mercy 2 - Ride The Lightning 3 - Reign In Blood 4 - South Of Heaven 5 - Seasons In The Abyss 6 - Divine Intervention 7 - Reload 8 - God Hates Us All 9 - Christ Illusion 10 - World Painted Blood 11 - Hardwired To Self Destruct Slayer wins it for me 8 - 3.

I love Slayer but I give Kill ‘‘em all and Show no Mercy a dead heat . Kill ‘em all pioneered the crunchy riff in my opinion 😊
love the choices questy i almost believe if you took the best of load and reload and put them together you have a good album but seperate not great.
I don’t understand how some people can treat metal like sports, ive seen so many comment threads under many different videos of people arguing over which band sucks. Real metal heads understand and respect the uniqueness and talent that each metal band possesses
I got: 1. Kill ‘Em All > Show No Mercy 2. RIDE THE LIGHTNING > Hell Awaits 3. Master of Puppets 4. And Justice > South of Heaven 5. Black album 6. Load 7. Reload > Musica (never listened to) 8. St Anger 9. Death Magnetic > Christ Illusion 10. Lulu 11. Hardwired = Repentless (both okay can’t really choose)
1. Kill'em all 2. Ride the Lightning 3. Master/Reign --> draw 4. South of Heaven 5. Metallica 6. Load 7. Diabolus in Musica 8. God Hates us All 9. Death Magnetic 10.World Painted Blood 11.Repentless So for me it's 6 each...
Apples and oranges. Two great bands who do things differently.
Metallica > Slayer
The only matchups I can comment on are MoP vs. RiB and AJFA vs. SoH. Between those two matchups, I'm gonna go with Metallica for both of them. Also, can we please get a full cover of you singing Dead Skin Mask? Because that would be glorious.

Omg big Metallica fan but let's face it, it's Slayer it's Slayer all day long, atleast they remained consistent, to an extent. And Slayer although Diabolus and afew others aren't exactly great they never killed my braincells with a album as bad as St Anger

If I were doing it album vs album like you have I would say Metallica win with kill em all and Ride the lightning over Show no Mercy and Hell Awaits, then after that Slayer all the way. Master is great but Reign in blood is a chaotic Masterpiece and Angel of death is my favourite Metal track Ever
Master vs Reign definitely the toughest. I pretty much agree with everything else except I'm taking Christ Illusion over Death Magnetic. Good video 👍🏻
Kill em all Is Better than SNM imho However in every other match i pick Slayer over metallica
Slayer wins for me. Ride the Lightning vs Hell Awaits gave me the biggest headache. I give the edge to Hell Awaits though, since Escape drags RtL down a point.
Ride the lightning is my favorite Metallica album. I prefer ride the lightning slightly above master of puppets. Master of puppets is a magnificent album but everytime I hear angel of death I start headbanging atomatically.
You included Lulu hahaha. That was funny. I've been one of the biggest Metallica fans, can't stand Hardwired and St Anger. Death Magnetic was good, Reload was ok , Load was kinda great (not all the tracks, but the ones I like I find them really great) to me. I really didn't dig anything after Diabolus In Musica for Slayer... And I still root for Slayer after Diabolus over Metallica's Hardwired and St Anger héhé.
Metallica by far, don't even need to watch the video. Slayer is overrated af to me. I don't like their vocals, production style or even songwriting. It's just boring ass thrash that's a bit darker/more evil than the rest, I find Metallica's style much more unique and the songs are way more memorable. Fortunately for Slayer they don't have a St. Anger in their discography but they don't have any Master of puppets, Justice or ride the lightning masterpiece level stuff either. Guess my pick.
Slayer has bigger mosh pits Metallica doesn't.....
Can you do a battle between black metal bands?
…And Justice For All vs South of Heaven is extremely hard for me because those are both my favorite albums by each band. Fuck it I’ve decided it’s a draw I can’t pick between those 2
Death Magnetic over Christ Illusions is insane to me, but I like Slayer in general far more than Metallica.
Slayer for me.
Well I already know my answer to this one. Metallica wins for me. They were the first classic metal band I ever got into, and they’re of course a must listen band for anyone who says they’re into metal. Slayer I’m not really into, but they’re not bad. I’d be willing to give them another chance though.

When I was starting to get into metal I hated slayer,I started listening to them recently and I lobe them.
Here are my controversial picks: - Load >> Divine Intervention - Repentless > Hardwired Black Album vs Season of the Abyss was a hard one for me but i would go with Slayer too. Master of Puppets has no weak songs whereas Reign in Blood does, despite two legendary hits like Raining blood and Angel of death.
Slayer wins for me, easy. Metallica's last great album was 1988. Slayer had several after that and remained consistent and never went mainstream. I will always love Puppets and Justice, though. Fantastic albums.
My pick - the first 4 ones to Metallica but it was a very hard choice each one. - Season in The Abyss (hard but not much, choice) - Divine invervention (Easy choice) - Diabolus in Musica (Hard choice lol, I feel more familiarized with Reload but Diabolus was not that "horrible" albums as many ppl said, at least not for me) - God Hate us All (Easy choice) - Death Magnetic (Hard choice) - World Painted Blood (Easy choice) - Hardwired... (hard but not much, choice)
Slayer better guitar riffs for me.But kill em all was my favourite album the other thing is Metallica has less demonic lyrics
If it was the first 5 vs the first 5 id probably say Metallica just for variety. Unfortunately Metallica hasnt done anything since the black album imo whereas id argue Slayer had some very good albums after seasons. The classic lineup of Slayer made 7 albums. All 7 are very good to great imo. Lombardo was never on a bad Slayer album so ill definitely go with Slayer.
I totally agree with your ranking!! I love both Bands but i think Metallica will always be my Number 1 Band!! Never forget my first listen to Kill em All back in 83!! It blows my Mind!! This is my Number 1 Thrash Metal Album of all time!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘 Next Suffocation vs Immolation
5:14 The Black Album absolutely owns any Slayer album.
This is a tough one. Metallica did what no other band from that period did and that's become a household name. We can argue all week about whether that's a good or bad thing the fact remains that Metallica have sold more records and put more bums on seats than the rest of the big four put together. Who would I rather see live. Duh slayer
Metallica is good rock band
Those are some tough mashups early on. Then it becomes a boomer war.
Only fucking Slayer 😁🤘
I seriously question anyone saying they like Kill em All better than Master. I’m not saying it’s not possible, but my money is that it’s more of a hipster choice. MoP is just objectively better, and the title track alone settles the argument
The only reason Metallica is in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is because they went mainstream and it’s a shock that Metallica and Slayer biggest thrash band on the face of the planet, everybody knows that Slayer deserves to be in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame, they kept to their original thrash and heavy roots while Metallica did NOT, after Master of Puppets, Metallica started getting soft and going more main stream, I don’t understand why the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame can’t acknowledge the fact that Slayer deserves a spot in the hall of fame, such a shame…. Anyone REAL metal head would agree with me that Slayer deserves to be inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame…. Only time will tell, 🤘🎸🤘🎸
Slayer wins In their whole career very tough competion In the 80s but even slayers worst albums i prefer over Metallicas
Slayer wins🤘🤘🤘🤘
Metallica has the name of the genre but considering the East area and the bay area in the the 80s there were bands who were more Metal than Metallica ...Slayer was the best
My 2 favorite bands in highschool, Metallica amazing first 5 albums then going commercial, Slayer good first 5 albums, Reign in blood and Seasons are masterpieces, their new albums are just meh to me. So conclusion, both bands give their best in early era.
Metallica vs Megadeth?
This is gonna get hated on I have very wired tastes in music I always love the things other people don't like as much my favorite Metallica album is actually...And Justice For All Could just be nastalgia considering adfa was my first metal album ever but I just love every single song Eye Of The Beholder ...And Justice For All One Shortest Straw Blackened Dyers Eve And those are just the one I can remember at the top of my head
Hell Awaits is everyone’s favorite Slayer album? Uhh, no. Reign In Blood is king, but there’s heavy competition from Seasons
I like Reign in Blood better and And Justice For All better.
Slayer will always be better then Metallica Slayer's mosh pits are better then Metallica Slayer always played heavier then Metallica Slayer's slow songs are heavy has fuck.
How is this battle of the bands when you're dressed comparing albums Metallica has more albums the awesome Metallica sold out Slayer Slayer experimented with new metal that's all they did again this isn't Battle of the band you're just comparing albums....
St Anger is not awful. Piss off. It's not their best but it's far from awful
I wish Slayer come back
Nice video! But do not agree at al… hahhaha The only album Metallica could win is Ride the Lightning, but it’s up against Hell Awaits… For me Slayer would win every album! Not that I don’t like Metallica, I do. But Slayer al the way!
Hell Awaits is my favorite album spoken about here. Slayer wins even though I don’t care for Kerry King as a person at all.
Re-load loses against any Slayer album imo.
Slayer wins easily. At least they had good albums after the 80's.

I love the black album, load and reload death magnetic and hardwired. They were all after the 80s
Most likely hot take: Metallica are the better band because they evolved and didnt make just thrash their entire career. Dont get me wrong, Slayer are awesome, but Metallica's versatility is unmatched, they are musical chameleons.

They evolved in a bad way tho, in my opinion. 90s metallica just feel forced, the Songwriting is, in my opinion, poor and bland. Metallica, Load and Reload are bad even as a rock album, and when they tried to play metal agan, with ST Anger they still struggled in writing actually cool songs. Sure i'm not saying that every single Song they made in the 90s/early 2000 Is bad, we have sad but true, king nothing, sweet Amber, ecc... But it's Just a few okay stuff in a, imho, series of really bad albums. When they released Death Magnetic i had mixed feelings because there are Indeed some cool songs and moments, and i don't really care about the poor production either, but on the other side some songs are just too long, too repetitive and they seemed kinda the cover band of themselves. Hardwired has some really good moments but i like 3/4 songs in total. Slayer did What they were Good at: fast and Heavy thrash metal. They were innovative in the 80s, and i feel like after seasons they said What they had to say, then they released some really good albums like Divine Intervention, Christ Illusion or repentless, some less interesting (for me) but overall they kept a strong songwriting, really cool songs and i think they were a more "sincere" band than metallica, which kinda sold out and in a bad way, same goes for Megadeth. I'm a big fan of all the big 4 btw, so i'm not saying Megadeth and metallica aren't good bands, they are both awesome, but i Just can't see 90s metallica as an evolution, it's the opposite actually. That said Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer are all incredible bands with hours of really good Thrash Metal and i don't think there's a better, we are talking about 4 different approach to the genre so it's really a matter of tastes.

Haha, no just no. Metallica didn't evolve they devolved into mainstream crap, I guess you like when bands purposely dumb down their music for money.
Slayer obviously
I had Slayer winning 7 to 0…sweeping the floor with those sellouts.
This isn't even a competition. Slayer is the uber-jock punching the 90 pound weakling in high school. Even the two good Metallica albums (the ones with Mustaine songs) can't match Slayer's first two.
