Woody Johnson it was right after the Soviet Union falling which showed signs of peace between the US and Russia and a more free world being a concert like this could happen in a previously dictorial land. It was also one of the largest rock and metal concerts ever that spread the genre to many people who’ve never heard of it before. It was most likely the last rock and metal concert of this size to ever happen too

His self taught clean style and the awesome sound of his drums made you want to play drums....not to mention his energy and intensity !!! He beat those drums like they owed him money. It must’ve been a crazy time for them. Knowing that the system that they’re technically fighting for, or prepared to fight for, is about to crumble to the ground. I wonder what the overall morale was around the soldiers at that time? Were they excited for new change? Were they afraid of the unknown that I’m sure they were definitely feeling was inevitable? Reminds me ancient empires you read about in history books, but that actually happened during our era. Kinda crazy too, that things like that are sure to occur again. Either in our lifetime, or way into the future. Makes me feel small and insignificant compared to the history and future of mankind...

Chicken Wings The USSR was very much still a country, but the guy in charge, Mikhail Gorbachev, gave everyone freedom of speech and capitalism while pretending it was still communist. Had it been under any other Soviet leader (with the exception of maybe Leonid Brezhnev) they wouldn't be allowed to play.
