One of the most important concerts in Metal/Rock history

4 жыл бұрын
@@Woody_Johnson It says "Moscow 1991," so it was right before the fall of the Soviet Union & end of the Cold War, so this was prob the first big American band to play in Russia, possibly the first big rock/metal concert over there too
@claymahnen1307

Woody Johnson it was right after the Soviet Union falling which showed signs of peace between the US and Russia and a more free world being a concert like this could happen in a previously dictorial land. It was also one of the largest rock and metal concerts ever that spread the genre to many people who’ve never heard of it before. It was most likely the last rock and metal concert of this size to ever happen too

It must’ve been a crazy time for them. Knowing that the system that they’re technically fighting for, or prepared to fight for, is about to crumble to the ground. I wonder what the overall morale was around the soldiers at that time? Were they excited for new change? Were they afraid of the unknown that I’m sure they were definitely feeling was inevitable? Reminds me ancient empires you read about in history books, but that actually happened during our era. Kinda crazy too, that things like that are sure to occur again. Either in our lifetime, or way into the future. Makes me feel small and insignificant compared to the history and future of mankind...

@@Oldboy-jq8xf comparing the two bassists is not really fair. They both made significant contributions to the band. Which would you rather do without: Kill em, Lightning, and Puppets, or Justice and the Black Album? Cliff helped make the band as popular as it was, and Jason was about to carry that torch IMO.

Oldboy 2017 Cliff was an anomaly, and unfortunately we all had to miss growing into the respected veteran musician he could’ve become. I don’t think Jason ever had Cliff’s improv chops, but Jason’s musicianship is second to none. He viewed his role differently than Cliff did, but he was a professional and a solid contributor to that band. As is Trujillo. Metallica has always picked the right bassist for their band lol
