Saw them earlier in this year, 1989, on the Justice for All tour. They played really well and included a heap of old favourites to keep the crowd really excited and pumped . A couple of good covers on the playlist too. At the Auckland NZ gig I’m sure they did Deep Purples Highway Star and Alice Coopers 18/Under my Wheels medley. I haven’t seen a show they did in 89 yet that wasn’t dynamite. Watching this I am reminded how it really felt like you got some bang for your buck, great show. ⚡️💎⚡️
Metallica at its best! Why can't they continue writing songs like this? Justice for all was their last best album

they wrote and played their hearts and minds out mid 80s thru early 90s . Nobody (even Slayer) matched them. I love modern Metallica but this quality is just unstustanable for decades.

For all the above reasons - plus Death Magnetic is arguably an underrated album. Its interesting listening to the AI versions of their modern songs using James' younger voice and Metallica's old sound, really highlights they havent changed at all... just older!

March 17, 1989 was my first Metallica concert in Hartford, Connecticut...was 17 at the time and was forever changed!! I recall my neck feeling sore for days from head banging like crazy at that show! (Thankfully my highschool sweetheart was a major metal head and opened up my world to awesome bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Testament, Merciful Fate, etc etc.) This is an eff-ing full tilt performance of perfection -- Absolutely love the band's organic symmetry and the insane fire & fury that James and Jason spew out... they look possessed!! 😈 This is the Metallica era that I covet and revisit the most 30+ years later and ALWAYS will!! 🤘

Wow!! Just wow!! Just when I forgot how big and monstrous Metallica really were, I hear them during this era. Metallica’s sound between 88-93 was unlike any other. Metallica’s stuff in the late 90s was very cool but man these years during Justice and the Black album is just so electric and spot on.

Having the internet and this stuff here for free is just incredible. How often me and my friend would watch that original VHS tape Cunning Stunts from the Load-Time... Wish we would have had access to this stuff here back then as well. From before the Black Album !
