James wrote this song about a girl, a big fan that went to a concert, and got killed by a drunk driver on the way home. One day,James met her parents, and was amazed that they were dealing with their loss so strong, they said, their daughter loved your music, at first the parents weren't into Metallica, but to draw closer, and feel closer to her, they started listening to all the albums, and started diggin metallica, James in admiration of the parents dealing with their loss, he told them if that was his daughter, he wasn't sure if he could be so forgiving...and now ya know.......wow! Rip Metallica fan girl 🎸

It amazes me how good the HTSD stuff sounds live. It’s like all the songs on that album were written with the intent to play them in front of 75,000 people every night. Edit: Please don’t read the replies. All the gatekeeping dinosaurs from the 80s still visit Metallica videos, apparently.

You can really tell this when he was injured and Lombardo and Jordinson filled in for a few shows. Technically they destroy him but nobody lays down that big simpler beat like he does. He can get in trouble on improvising fills and trying to get clever with accents but when he just lays into that kick and snare it’s a beautiful thing.

you have no idea what you're talking about. Lars is like Kirk, a mediocre skilled player - which doesn't mean that as a BAND they don't kill it. It's funny because prior to the Black album coming out they stated in all the magazines that their next album would sound a lot like the cover they did of Queens, "Stone Cold Crazy". Look it up! I remember because I couldn't wait for that album and when it finally hit, ut was the Black Album. I went through the whole damn album looking for anything that sounded remotely close to Stone Cold crazy and the only song that really came somewhat close was Through the Never. I was so disappointed in that album just couldn't believe that they did something completely the opposite of what they wrote the magazines but mind you I was just a youngster back then at about 19 years old. It was a total letdown I was very disappointed. I was still coming off the high of And Justice For All and hearing Stone Cold crazy on the radio there after. I did like the Black Album as time went on though but not like their previous albums. It was cool when they debuted their videos on MTV for the Black Album. Much like the last Van Halen album that came out which I was pretty impressed by so was I with hardwired. I didn't like anything really after Black. I thought all of it was just pure shit except for a few songs here and there. Again this is just my opinion there are so many people out there and the reason they kept selling so well is because people liked what they put out.

Considering where James' head was at this point of the tour, I look back at performances like this and am in absolute awe that the band was able to finish out the run of European dates, and then S&M 2. He looks livelier here than he does in the last couple videos of the European stadium tour run but you could tell that he was close to reaching his limit. Look the Budapest, or Munich videos and you could that it was obvious to the other 3 that James was mentally not really feeling it at all.
