My two cents: The infamous bell tolls, but at a higher pitch. Lars' double tom strikes envelope the guitars, and the kick drums boom more prominently than before. There's less bleed between the instruments, too, making it easier to tell them apart-when Cliff plays lead (0:15) or Lars offers up a thundering reply. Cliff's notes are less blown up, having been dialed back ever so slightly to make room for Lars to truly boom. At the same time, the hi-hat, snare and cymbals are less harsh (0:31)-still audible, but not quite so strident; they blast more than cut, now. The rhythm guitars sound panned slightly right-of-center. It makes for a better balance-more clear and accurate. The classic chromatic bass line by Cliff (0:48) sounds slightly quieter, but feels more prominent during the unison rhythm guitars that follow suit (1:04). It purrs nicely. The clarity between tracks really shows during the guitar lead (1:25). Instead of blending together, the sustained power chords, muted staccato leads and tom rolls leap out individually. The space between the tom strikes (1:31) is easier to make out, and the notes have more depth. Likewise, Cliff's bass dives into a low throb (1:32) that simply wasn't audible before. It's great. The volume from the guitars is balanced better, and helps draw out a parallel rumble from Cliff. I can hear both, instead of just guitars sponged with intermittent "walking" bass. And sometimes Cliff does more than just rumble; sometimes, his phrasing is quite pronounced, almost verbal (1:45-1:55). It's a whole new dimension, but doesn't hog the spotlight. Lars rumbles. James and Kirk chug along. There's just a sense of clarity that paints a clear picture amid the maelstrom without stealing its thunder. However, James' vocals are less front and center. He almost sounds on stage, insulated by smoke and fog (note the bass clap at 2:22). This includes the rhythm guitars, which sound slightly louder than him. I love the snare-cymbal combos, here (2:37). There's a crisp smoothness to the hiss, instead of a shrill, white-noise rasp. Thanks to more audible bass and drums, the air during the chorus sounds fuller-less James and guitar, and more of these at a slightly softer volume that swells to greater size with all members firing full-bore. It's less shocking but more effective. The toms really boom now (3:03), instead of that hard, papery punch the original mix offers. The guitar fill (3:05) and subsequent unison bass/rhythm guitar double-stop (3:07) is less to-the-ceiling but more prominent at a lower volume and position. As the song proceeds forward, I can hear the tracks add and add and add, starting at an earlier point than the original mix. The bass barks during Lars' double tom fill (3:11), filling the silence; and the final chord before the closing verse (3:29) sounds positively stacked. The trick isn't sheer volume, but starting smaller and audibly teasing out the climb. Nice job! (Also, nice edit with the black screen and echo at 3:36). All in all, this version is a bit more subtle and than your first remix, but also more nuanced. It adds dimension, but not by throwing the mix off-balance. I always appreciate your Metallica remixes, and any time you revisit Ride the Lightning I have no complaints. You could revisit the entire album and I'd happily listen to it: The music is already great; you make it better.

It's very clean. You can hear Cliff much better than in the original but not overwhelmingly so. All the instruments have kept their relative positions in the mix so it doesn't sound foreign. It's not a bad mix at all. Feels a bit sterile though but that's probably because I'm used to the gritty original. Nicely done.

Andy, we want more Metallica's songs remastered. You're doing a good job🔥🔥🔥
Was just listening to that...
Pero qué genialidad acabo de escuchar? Este Mix es el mejor hasta ahora: dinámica, equilibrio de los instrumentos, claridad, profundidad. Lo tiene todo.
That bass!!!!!!!! 😌❤🖤 what is that TONE!!!!!! 😱😱😱😱😱🖤🖤💙💙🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

version 1 and 2 are both AWESOME
made my sunday a 100 times better thanks
Great remaster. Can you do war ensemble by slayer next. One of my favorite metal songs that I think needs updating.
bruh you've made this song 100x more the masterpiece it already fucking was, you're an absolute legend
I wish all these mixes were on spotify :( ARE THEY?!
How much do I have to pay you to do the first five albums?

First four would be better. Not saying the fifth is bad, but in my opinion it cant hold up with the other four.

Never felt like this song even needed a remastering
Maybe your best overall work. It really sounds like it was supposed to be this way, even if Metallica didn't know it then.
i remember one comment in particular about V1, about the bell being light and weak. i gotta say, the bell here sounds fucking HEAVY.
Not sure how it could sound any better than this.
love the stereo imaging effect with the end solo !
Yea I must say this sounds really cool
Killing is my business full album remix please Ahdy..Thankee Sai...
Bless you, Andy.
soo excited for this
Again? This is perfect, thanks dude
Dude thank you for cutting it at "It's the last time you will..." that is awesome as fuck.
holy.... that sounds really good! +1 rep

Sent shivers down my spine!
still listening 😄this remaster fucking rocks
The best part is he actually synced up the video to the song
Metallica should hire you as producer! I always thought they lacked a bit proper deep bass and kick, here you can hear it makes them sound more epic and heavy. Due to this it is sometimes hard on the ears to listen to their earlier albums because of how treble'y they sound.
Nice job. Sounds great
Thank you dude
Me recuerda en algunos momentos a la cancion don't tread on me ,del disco black... Pasada de cancion 🤘
Not only you can hear the bass but you can hear it very clearly
impressive very impressive, very good work my lad
This is amazing
3:30 It's the last time you WILL WILL will will. Mind=Blown
Bro this is my Favorite Metallica song and I just wanted to say you made my dream a reality making it a bit crispier, heavier, and all around more of the intimidating feeling and tone of the song, but I do like the original bell sounds.

This is what the video probably would have looked like back in 84-85'...Video's were generic then... Probably had to slow the 1985 Metal Hammer festival video down a little to sync with the album recording... They played all the songs fast as shit in that show!!!... This is cool... Great job man... That's my 5 cents...
Bassist killing the song Cameraman : guitars lets go brrr

Maybe it's just me but I loved the first version you done more.
*sigh* What can I say man, what can I say. Nothing, this got me speechless, Specially that 3:36 Goddamn, that echo, the silence and THAT Bass dude, Fuck. Brilliant as always dude, keep doing this cause' You're the Best, imo.
