I'm always fascinated by the sheer artistic composition of this song. I realize that many people view Master of Puppets as Metallica's greatest song but I feel like Fade to Black is Metallica's Stairway to Heaven. It takes the listener through a melodic journey but underneath it is a dark emotion that lingers throughout until it just bursts at the end. Such a great song and a greater band; I've listened to these guys for nearly 25-years and they are my voice when I'm silent, they are my tears when I can't cry and they are my anger when I'm sitting still.

The effectiveness of his multiple hair transplants wore off a long time ago. But the Peter Green/Gary Moore guitar came with instructions on how to play his own songs. ..All jokes aside, if I owned that guitar, I would never travel overseas with it. Though, I'm sure he probably buys the thing its own airplane seat. Unfortunately, I am lefthanded and there were only 2 lefties ever made..so I will never own one of those badboys. Plus, I don't have 800,000$ to spend on a guitar. hehe.

I only just found out about the fact Kirk owns the Peter Green/Gary Moore Les Paul. Gary Moore was a massive influence on me even wanting to dabble on the guitar. Kirk playing it for this song nearly brought me to tears. As this is one of the only Metallica songs I ever took the time to try and learn.

During the solo Lars double bass is tight!

Kirk really wrote something special with the intro and outro solos. Stood the test of time 40 years later.

I love how James played the main riff from Moth Into Flame at the end… and it had a clean tone too😂

This Peter Green's 1959 Les Paul really has something special. Amazing tone and performance!

S&M2 is the most disappointing thing Metallica has done. It was just a cheap cash grab to celebrate the opening of a new stadium, nothing more. Loads of missed potential. I'm most mad that they didn't even play Minus Human.

After watching numerous live shows I am so grateful for the integrity of their orginal music be it riffs, solos vocal etc. so far, I am convinced that there is no one and will never be other bands that can actually send such powerful music forward ever again!!! The saddest part is they are almost retired which there is absolutely no band/group to take their place. I am glad today since I myself is living while they are still around giving magical live shows/tours and still writing new music and also letting me know what good music really is.

After listening to this, it reminded me of James' battle with addiction and how he recently checked into rehab.

Kirk absolutely nailed all those solos!

To this day, that outro solo by Kirk to this song still gives me chills! One of my favorite guitar solos of all-time💯

Impressive, that's when I learned of them but only for my metal mixes, later I kick myself for not learning to play them on guitar, very unique riffs and strums would have been fun.
