@I Just Wanna Talk About Games thank you for your opinion. I don’t expect it but hey, if somebody wants to, that’s up to them. I don’t monetize or use patreon so people don’t have to “pay monthly” and I do these because I find it a fun challenge for myself. but hey, since you came and clicked on this video, I obviously got your attention, so I must be doing something right. 😆

@jayrogers754 yes, Derek makes similar style videos. we respectfully don’t do the same songs. there are so many great songs to do and these videos are very time consuming, so we try to give the viewers more options to watch. hence the reason I highly suggest checking out his video.

I remember my Special Forces A Team being sent over there to provide private security for all the bands. I was backstage standing beside a Russian soldier and he was crying. I asked if he was okay and he said " yes comrade, yes my brother. I may call you brother yes?". I said da it would be my honor. He then said " You will never be able to understand the joy in my heart seeing my people so happy and having so much fun.". Then he wiped his tears and stood rigid and tall. We have kept in touch ever since. Hello Mikhail Dolvetchkov I hope you see this.

From the history of the biggest live crowds this event is on 5th or 6 position, Rod Stewart concert was the biggest live event so far with 4.2 million in Brazil on first spot then electronic musician Jean Michele Jare on 2-3 spots [one in France (Paris) and the other concert elsewhere] but as heavy rock-metal live event yeah this was the biggest festival live but Metallica was not the single band (like record holder Rod Stewart) because on same event with them was also AC/DC, Pantera & Black Crows and people were not just Russians at this event were also a lot of people from other countries from Europe too but yeah.. hell of atmosphere, just imagine if one is right in the middle and needs to use the toilet.. what it will do ?!!! crazy..

I remember this. The communist government had just collapsed. Freedom in any way for decades was being experienced for the first time in Russia. The record labels asked if they could send some bands to play. It was approved. Metallica announced a FREE concert near Moscow. They expected a couple hundred thousand maybe. 1.6 million came to rock out. Absolutely legendary concert. The largest in human history. Probably still to this day.

I was stationed in Germany from 87-90. I remember very well when the wall came down. All those people were now free, to live a free life - and this concert is a testament to how powerful freedom is, and how many people want it. They don't want to be controlled. Having said that, the one thing that stuck out to me as well as the wall coming down - was that many of the (West) Germans were not happy about it. I would always talk to the taxi drivers whenever we (a group of us soldiers) were going out, and all they could talk about was taxes and money and how that would affect them - not a damn thing to say about the joy and relief that so many people were now free. It's not something I will ever forget, and unfortunately, I hear those words from too many people in the U.S. They don't care about freedom, they want the government to control everything. Be very careful what you wish for.

I watched this concert on MTV in 1991 it was called the Moscow music peace festival there were many many many metal bands there cause metal music was not played in Russia so all these American metal bands went over to give all the fans a show, that's why u see so many Russian cops all over to keep fans inline. It was a huge deal in 91 to have peace with Russia and 30yrs later we're still trying.

I know Metallica members have said Blue Oyster Cult was a band they "grew up on". They even covered "Astronomy". And since the 70s, Blue Oyster Cult also had that type of intro music before taking the stage. I wonder if Metallica got the idea from their....mentors.

Metallica and other groups were the support acts for the headliners, ACDC from Australia. I watched the whole concert but the quality of the filming was not good. The Soviets didn't have any real experience of filming rock concerts so didn't have the cameras positioned correctly. Plus, the organisers had originally only planned for around 500,000 so when 1.6 million turned up... they were shocked. It was a free concert put on by the Russian Government to try to please the people. Three months later, the USSR officially collapsed and imploded. An historical time.
