Master storyteller. Doesn’t matter the genre. If you cant tell the story and express it believably you can’t win. Hetfield. Tells the story. Well. Better than most. Game over.

I believe he is. A few years ago, he started the band Newsted, they released one EP and one LP, and then disbanded for financial reasons. They made some good metal music that I hope Vin and Sori will check out soon. I think Jason's current project is Jason Newsted and the Chophouse Band.

More to it than just a name change. The lyrics are completely different the tempo was slowed down and the break was put in the middle that isn't in Mechanix. The original version of the song is on Megadeth's Killing is My business LP. You can compare it the Metallica version on No life til leather.

So persistence pays off? Back to requesting Theatre Of Tragedy in every comment. Theatre Of Tragedy - And When He Falleth Also, if metal is my first musical love than post-rock is my side chick. You should really check some out. Here are some choice cuts though I actually think it's a genre better experienced in full albums. Explosions In The Sky - Your Hand In Mine Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Storm 65daysofstatic - Radio Protector

Try the book "The Sheep Look Up" for a rather horrifying and realistic version of how the world dies from environmental destruction. I can't say enough how much of a crime "...And Justice for All." was to Jason Newstead and how much of an ass-kicking Lars deserved for committing said crime.

TheDeist I was just about to post that, thank you. Newstead was treated like shit for his first few years in the band, and even after they accepted him they never really let him flourish. Then he tries to do a side project, and what happens? They tell him he has to choose Metallica or the side project, and that he can't do both. So he leaves...and then they flip out in disbelief. Unreal!

He wanted to do a side project as everyone else was getting their shit together and not making music "Some Kind of Monster" Kirk's family life was falling apart, Lars just had his head up his ass for the "Monster" thing anyway and James left for a year...so why the hell not? Jason just wanted to play!

Vin thinks that Hetfield can't write good lyrics... The Outlaw Torn, Bleeding Me, No Leaf Clover, Low Man's Lyric, Fixxxer... Just a few to prove how wrong you are about it. Hetfield's just lazy, especially now, but he writes good lyrics when he wants.

Scaion the thing with Metallica lyrics is that they plan on how they will play it live and what shout outs can they get to them etc. They often think about playing the new songs live and it plays a big part in the writing as well. So with parts where they have the crowd singing and all the bass and guitar solos it does get too crowded to fit in excellent lyrics in there as well. Metallica has always been about playing the best songs. Putting them on the records and that isn’t always the most techanically challenging or the deepest lyrical songs. But the songs they do are effin good... And that is what they always go for. They probably have about 30+ songs for each record and they work on them and cut them down to the about 10 in the end. Rest are either discarded or left to mature for the next record.

You have to do The Shortest Straw. That song is the definition of metal. James's singing is vicious and powerful, the guitars are so fucking heavy that they will rattle your head off your shoulders and the drums will blast a fucking hole through your chest. One of my favorite 'Tallica songs

Hetfield is a point maker in his lyrics. He's even said he isn't a poet. But, for this album they just lost their boy and the political climate at the time was a joke with Reagan and Bush, so they had some shit to say. And if you continue the Metallica "Mondays" you should check out The Outlaw Torn. It's the last song on the Load record and the most over looked in my opinion.

It's interesting when you speak of how old our planet is, from a biblical perspective. I obviously don't believe in anything divine or supernatural, as proven by my previous comments of your videos. Most believers agree with the theory of evolution, but they say that their god used evolution. I haven't read every verse in the bible. According to multiple verified scientific studies, Tellus (scientific name for Earth) is 4.6 billion years old. Christianity, for instance, was created in an era where humanity simply didn't possess the knowledge it possesses today. This goes for religion, as a whole. So when an indescribable phenomenon occured, we made things up in order to not lose our minds. Anyways, this comment is draggin' on and I apologize for my rambling.

I was 15 back in March of '89 when I saw this tour in Syracuse. Queensryche opened (in support of Operation: Mindcrime.) WHAT A SHOW!!! I think the Seattle show was probably so good for Metallica because it was a hometown show for Queensryche. The energy must have been EPIC.
