Hello world :D Thank you for including me on your channel and showing me the wonder that is BTS! What a blast it was! Little peek behind the curtain, this was recorded a while ago so I had forgotten most of it already - I do still stand by everything I said :D I wanted to some things that I didn't remember to mention while listening. We discussed a bit about my musical history in the other recording (spoilers..?) but yeah, I've been a music fan all my life and played various instruments for about 17 years now. I'm also mostly self-taught (which probably shows lol) so it adds to the do-it-yourself attitude that I love in the metal/rock/heavier scene. Modern pop music for me has always felt so very generic and manufactured, which it mostly is if you just look at the billboards and top charts, so it's really freaking cool to see people make their own music! It's the difference between an artist and a performer. These guys feel genuine as all hell. As someone in the premiere chat mentioned, they just don't seem to be able to stay seated and that's exactly the energy I like to see! More personal stories and opinions from me on being on stage and performing live in the other reaction video ;) And as for the favourite song... Well there are hints buried in the comment replies! There's a suprising Venn diagram overlap of metal heads that become BTS fans! The raw emotion & "fight the system", & sincerity are huge reasons why. Their lyrics are deep & 🔥🔥. Their backstory is amazingly heartbreaking, & the rap cred is real. As is the fact that members write, produce much of their work. Their earlier "aggresive" rap/hip-hop based work, with their hungry demeanor is 🔥. Newer stuff amazing for other reasons. I'd try "Dope" or "Mic Drop", "Fake Love", Cypher series, "ON", "DNA Pedal to LA Remix", "Not Today"...😁💜

This guy seemed super sweet and really respectful. I'm glad he appeared to enjoy the music despite it not being something he would personally go out of his way to listen to. I always love when youtubers bring people on the channel who aren't that familiar with BTS and have them listen to some of their music. Even if afterwards the guest concludes BTS is just not for them, I am SO appreciative that they were willing to give them a chance. 🙂

Hope your friend decides to explore more of the BTS library and glad that he was so open to listening to Tiny Desk. I am into metal and punk predominately myself so it was a huge leap for me to listen to a group like BTS. I thought they were just the typical boy band with little to no depth. But my son kept pestering me to give it a try. I heard the song Danger first and have been hooked ever since.

Omg this was so cute, they had me dancing and sing along to the three songs, the choice of songs sent e from being happy to sad and i went in a roller coaster of emotions. DynAMIte had me singing and dancing along and i so wanted to be that vinyl record so badly. Save Me had me in my feelings as i was smiling along, swaying and also Jimin, Tae and Jungkook dancing along to the chorus had me laughing so much. Spring Day i had a tear in my eye thru that song and the vocals during it had me in my feelings so badly. And dont get me started on their clothes, i mean Jiminie OMG i was just speechless and on a side note every members english has improved so much im just in love with it, also i love it when they perform with a live band as it just gives off another kind of vibe and its the best when they perform with a live band.

yeah i think its one of my favourite things to show people... festa is amazing aswell but this one i am just very connected to it. i have reacted to this video so many times and the songs of this video even more xD

I listen to all types of music and because of the different genres' of music BTS produce, they have become my favorite. I've been to their stadium concerts and when I say, "Spectacular" I mean it. I am so impressed.

when introducing new ppl to BTS, I always try to give them songs more tailored to their musical preference first. For a metal lover, RM has a song from his first mixtape called Throw Away. The instrumental is very heavy-metal. You can find a lyric vid pretty easily, and here is an iconic live performance Throw Away, it gives me underground rapper RM vibes: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zqp3laiHZrW1k7Q.html The end of "Shadow" by Suga has a kind of metal instrumental too. That's all I can think of off the top of my head for metal. The next closest thing would be rock I guess. Show him Danger and Dionysus. Also, the dance practice videos for both those songs are ICONIC. Choose the MMA Dance Practice for Dionysus. If you guys like Danger, there is another version of the song they made called Mo-Blue Mix featuring one of the songwriters. I almost like that version better than the original Danger.

Hello to fellow Finn. My favorite genre is rock/hard rock but complitely fell into this rabbit hole of BTS and proud to be Army. BTS is fun to listen to and they make people feel good, even though hard rock is also needed :)

Army does like honest opinions, and not everyone has to love BTS (of course) - I’m think of the other friend you mentioned - we just ask people to be respectful, of you don’t vibe with the music, it’s cool - it don’t put them down and disparage them and their hard work, they are good people who are doing their best to make the world better, and unless you are doing more, you should leave their character alone…😂🤷‍♂️ Hope that makes sense - I cannot speak for all of Army, but I think many will agree… This friend was very kind and decent. If he likes symbolism in mv’s, he should look at Blood, Sweat, and Tears…Musically, maybe Dionysus would appeal, Outro: Tear is intense, and I think he might like some of Joon’s and Yoongi’s stuff too. But it’s ok if he doesn’t listen to more stuff - the main thing for me is that he was kind, and he was open 💜💜

When I introduce people to BTS, I feel like I'm all hyped up on caffeine and I have to shove as much as information possible into a short amount of time - but not too much because of course, they're going to lose interest if I don't make it punchy and interesting - but I go off on tangents because everything is so complex, and have to reel myself back in to focus on the point......I kinda got the feeling you would strongly identify with that feeling, Nelson! 😉

Dionysus is more into rock style so i recomend😁 also DNA rock version

Metalheads unite! I was so confused when a friend first introduced me to BTS. I was like 'have we not met? Pop music?!' BTS's attraction for me was in songs meanings and messages, not the melodies. They brought something to pop that I was looking for in rock and metal.

BTS has actually covered one metal song called Classroom Idea. It was originally by Seo Taiji. Then they performed it with Seo Taiji in his 25th anniversary concert several years ago. You can find that anniversary performance with English subtitles on the channel Enjoy BTS More. Seo Taiji does many genres, like BTS, and he had BTS perform with him on 8 of his songs during that concert, basically passing the torch to BTS. That might be an interesting performance for your metal friend to watch. I also really like their performance of Come Back Home, but that is hip hop, not metal.

@@AggressivelySweet I would definitely look into Seo Taiji. Back in the early 90's, Seo Taiji and Boys completely changed Korean music by bringing in western musical influences. They pretty much only listened to ballads in South Korea before Seo Taiji introduced rap, nu metal, and other genres. Without Seo Taiji, there would be no BTS or kpop. Their song, Come Back Home, encouraged a lot of teen runaways to return to their families. He was the reason the Korean government stopped censoring lyrics. He is a legend in South Korea and deservedly so.

Omg if it's his first time getting into kpop and you do end up reacting to some more stuff with him, I highly recommend checking out Dreamcatcher. They're a girl group with a sound that's heavily inspired by rock (specifically J-Rock), Metal, and a little bit of EDM in some songs. Idk I'm just really curious about what he'd think (and you too if you haven't seen them since I'm not super familiar with your channel lol). BTS is so much more than the people think. You have to watch BTS Black Swan Art Film first. It’s incredible!! Then, the BTS Black Swan performance on James Corden Show, the black swan on Jimmy Fallon and then the music video. For me one of the best performance, artistic visuals and music!

I was waiting for this reaction and now I have to get ready for my evening shift but hear me out as a fellow Greek I recommend these songs as a reaction that could be more to his style. A remix not many react to and I actually prefer over the original song is that of DNA the official LA mix from the album. If you want I can send you the links for the translation. Also the Fake love official remix as well. There's an extended official video clip which also shows more of the storyline and is part of the BU. And lastly a song that has ties to our mythology Dionysus. For the last one because it is full of references and the lyrics are very metaphorical you need to show him the explained video as well. Please if you can I'll watch another reaction with your friend no matter the songs I choose. I want him to see the diversity of BTS.

Hi Nelson! Is this the reaction of your friend that you said that was "too honest" that might not be the reaction we wanted to see? For me, personally, I don't see anything "not good" from this reaction. I don't like the super hyped reaction. Honesty is still the best and I can still see his interest about BTS and their music. I had fun. Hoping to see him back here soon. I have no idea about metal song or anything about music genre but I think I'd recommend songs like Boy IN Luv (not Boy With Luv), Danger, War of Hormone, We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2, No More Dream and Not Today. 16:00 RM, Suga and J-HOPE are the pillars of BTS. For some reason armys always fail to mention j-hope has been writing and even has songwriting credits before BTS' debut. He has over 100 writing credits in komca.

I cut my teeth on this tiny desk concert… I first heard the dynamite song, then tried to figure out who was who.. but because they looked similar and they moved around a lot. I had a difficult time trying to know who was who. I loved this setting!! And now I love BTS!!!!

i'm discovering BTS lately. and their music is really catchy. their mvs are really intreguing and you should really watch the analysis to understand what's going on. I suggest black swan and check their songs fake love and blood sweat and tears they are just amazing.

what i always find interesting/funny is how newcomers either expect kpop to sound exactly like that or not expecting that at all.. but whether you like their music or not, bts’ songs don’t sound like any kpop 🤣 that’s why I think it is so important to separate bts from kpop, because people start to expect things from kpop just because of bts

Hahaha yeah its interesting for sure. There is so much at this point and so many new groups after bts have beenn given freedom to get more creative. Bts has paved the way to a sort of artistic freedom. And yeah bts is very different for sure.

That was a great observation about the music being stripped down so to speak. He knows his stuff. 🙂💜 Dionysus might be one he likes. There is a lot to dig into and it is not pop sounding.

Spring Day was written for Sewol Ferry Disaster, and 294 high school children died. BTS did not confirm this until 2020. The MV shows piles of clothes representing the children.

Once you fall down the rabbit hole, one of the first questions is "....and how do I tell my friends about this???" You chose well with the Tiny Desk Concert and I loved your introductions to each song. I was especially glad that you so ably described the intent of Dynamite lest these three covid-era songs be seen as representing their body of work. Really well done.

I'm here a few weeks after the post. Just want to say, they do seem to genuinely like, appreciate, and accept each other. If not, it's incredible act. I'm not saying they don't disagree but are bonded beyond being business partners (likely because of their hard times, death threats, and haters). The video of the 2018 MOMA speech where Jin says they talked about breaking up, is gut wrenching.

I wonder if he would like Outro: Tear? It is intense, emotional, and so well performed by the rap line. If you do show him that try to find a stage mix or live. The performance makes it such a visceral experience.

I wouldn't say that kpop groups don't write their own songs ... I know a lot of groups who do write their songs but ofc some don't sometimes.

It's also interesting to know that BTS have ANOTHER song about Sewol and the ex-president's corruption called "Am I Wrong" that came out before this one. Even the choreo for "Am I Wrong" was controversial, mocking a member of ex-president Park's administration. If she had stayed in power, Park Geun-hye would have definitely punished them. It's even more important to know that her former allies in politics have a very good chance of regaining power in the upcoming elections. Let's all hope that the liberal or independent parties prevail. South Korea's democracy could soon revert back to an authoritarian regime if the conservatives take over again.

Maybe need to check on the bit where you say they still live together now it may not be true but nothing official has been stated on this. Also 10 year contract? I thought XCeleste said they resigned for another 7 years from 2020?
