I consider this their biggest, most extravagant performance in an award show. other performances were really great as well but i find this particular performance their biggest! It was when they swept all the big awards! Super proud of them!!!

a lot of people when they see namjoon performing before they watch any of their videos think that he looks scary 😭 he just has this gaze and this aura that just strikes confidence and he's known for that "look", the way stephanie described it was perfect lol

They represent the greek gods ^^ V is Apollo (god of the sun and beauty), Jin Athena (goddess of war and wisdom. Yes, it's the Trojan horse ^^), Jimin Artemis (goddess of the moon and hunt, twin sister of Apollo - V and Jimin wear the same earring), Suga Hephaestus (god of fire and metalworking), Jungkook Poseidon (god of the sea and earthquakes), J-Hope Zeus (god of thunder and justice) and RM Dionysus (god of wine and theater, one of his attribute is the thyrsus, the wand that RM grab before the song). Every time a member appears, you have a light that come down symbolising that every member is a star and all together we can see that they form the constellation named "Northern Crown". The story is that represent the crown given by Dionysus to the Cretan princess Ariadne when he married her and set by her in the heavens. Ariadne is the princess that help Theseus escape the maze of the Minotaur (Ariadne could be a representation of ARMY helping and guiding BTS).

I was laughing through out this whole reaction. Your commentaries were just hillarious but I also relate to yall so much. BTS are atm doing concerts in Korea which is being live streamed as well so yesterday before the concert I was just watching Run BTS and when they start performing I was just like "how are these the same people?" But they also goof around a lot in their concerts, just laugh and do improv so when they start doing that I was like "oh yeah, they are the same people"

Actually, he entered as the top student in the entire school due to his grades as well, not just the modern dance dept.

Definitely over the top, even for them. Their concerts are high energy and include pyrotechnics, but not quite this much. Since the subject/song is about Dionysus the god of wine and celebration, the excess performance fits the theme perfectly. ☺️ Great reaction guys.

Yes what you said is correct Jimin and V vocals are unusual in the kpop industry (for vocalists) a pure tenor and a baritone and on top of that they're so skilled. Most of the kpop singers are just tenors (not as pure as Jimin)

tbh even though armys are used to huge, entertaining shows at awards shows, our reactions when we saw this live was the same as yours!! this is BTS at a new-found height of their fame and the most extravagant show they've ever done. Keep in mind - this wasnt their concert, this was their performance at an AWARDS SHOW. Something like an MTV Awards Show. The Korean shows are a lot more theatrical than American shows, but even for them this is not the norm. No artist ever had a time slot this huge, and they closed the show out bc they were and are the most anticipated act at any show. In comparison, BTS really, REALLY toned down their performances for the american tastes - i doubt we'll ever see something like this from them on an american stage, probably bc they think people wouldnt like it 😞 which is absurd, because this is the biggest and best performance I've ever seen. The only person that is on their level is Beyoncé when she did her amazing Beychella shows!!!

It’s not that they think people won’t like it, I think it’s because American shows are still very hostile to them. They know armys like big shows, and they perform for us most of all, before anyone else. They make the most of what they’re allowed.

And it's because stages in America are quite small in scale compared to award shows in SK. Utilizing a large-scale performance like the ones performed by BTS is not something American award shows could prepare for. Even their own cameramen wouldn't be able to keep up, I bet.

Yes this was an award show! Jimin's I need you solo performance is iconic ❤️ it is a mixture of contemporary and modern Korean dance. Jimin is such a skilled professional 😊 Dancers said it's super difficult to dance with cloth like him because you can easily slip even professional dancers don't use it as a prop but he did it perfectly

Well, when it goes to BTS you never know what to expect but an amazing performance. Idk how they do it but they always suprise everyone. Love your reaction 💜 this performance is one of their best ones. Please watch their other performances in MMAs and MAMAs. (Interesting facts: if you watch the 2016 MAMAs please watch RM's speech when they received the "Artist of the Year" award. It was the first time they won such a big award and it was an emotional moment. I like that the guy knows they never shut up. They practically talk the entire video, so I'm grateful when they finally take a moment and just watch in awe. These reactors are literally the most talkative reactors I've ever watched, but I like their reactions. BTS and their performances are truly amazing and the production provide great aesthetic.

This is WHAT YOU EXPECT when you go to any of those of performances and more. They set the bar so high and it goes higher and higher every time they perform. They never disappoint. They’re one of the best performers of our time honestly :)

That wasn't V's usual singing voice in boy in love performance , he was using a vocal technic called "growling/growls" the sounds that the rock starts use he's so good at doing it. He can pretty much do everything with his voice and wide range

the first song they performed was from one of their first albums back when their concept was heavy hip hop. That song came out in 2014. Crazy seeing how far they've come especially because even their early songs are a bop!!!

Just wanna point out each of the solo introductions were to remixes of BTS songs (in order of their release): V - No More Dream (debut song) Jin - Danger Jimin - I Need U Suga - Fire JK - Save Me J-hope - Fake Love RM - Dionysus (which they then performed the full song)

Sometimes, when I watch Run BTS.. I completely forget how bad ass they are on stage! They don't often wear that superstar performer persona and instead we see the crackhead personalities! This is what makes them so endearing! They act clumsy and foolish and we tend to forget how good they really are as performers!

This was the craziest BTS performance even for us fans. It is something you had never expect but at the same time expect from them. This is the greatest thing I have watched. But....there do exist more crazy performances. Watch their 2021 mama performance maybe. All of the are great anyway

The breakdown song in the middle of Dionysus was a stylized version of their song N.O. All the sound bites and melodies you heard throughout the live performance (including their individual showcases) were stylized versions of their songs from over the years.

bts is basically the standar, when they announce a tour or concert you EXPECT great performances, high quality performances their MAMA, MMA (end of the year award shows) appearences are highly expected, compared to american awards shows, in korea, usually, artists put SO much more effort in everything, scenery, dance, breakdance, etc bts are well known for their legendary performances

I actually saw this performance live in Korea, and I thought I'd point out that what you see in this video is a mixture of live performance and pre-recorded stuff. So the majority of it we saw live in the stadium, but then there were some things we also watched on the screen only. One of those things is the horses. Some people criticised them for bringing horses into this stressful environment, but as someone who was there I can tell you no horses were actually present in the performance, they were pre-recorded and only shown only on the screens. Also, it was really funny because the majority of people in the audience were ARMY (you could tell by the fact that hey had BTS light sticks). I only saw a handful of people carrying the light stick of a different group. When BTS came on and the fanchants started it was like being at a BTS concert instead of a music award show.

This might actually be my favourite reaction to this performance. I really enjoyed your surprise and delight watching the members perform, after becoming so familiar with them by watching Run BTS. Yes, they switch from goofy and endearing to something quite different on stage. Like when you watch RM on stage, you wouldn’t think he talks to his little bonsai tree when he waters it, or is into art, literature, and going for bike rides. I laughed all the way through this reaction, especially when at the villains and boss fight comments!

Omg, I'm so excited for you guys to react to this. I had imagined how surprised you guys would be because you guys always react to them being agents of chaos, and your reaction really doesn't disappoint. Also, I love Steph's comment here so much at 7:05 Love you guys so much, hope you'd react to more BTS content💜 I'd recommend Ep. 122-123, Ep. 51 or MAMA 2017 for the live performance, or the legendary House of Army (seriously hilarious).

The end of the Boy with Luv -- the camera operator messed up. He was supposed to focus on JK's hand because it turns into an I love you symbol in sign language. The two songs they performed in suits, Boy IN Luv and Boy WITH Luv, are bookends. The first one was from their early days when the idea of hot-blooded young love and being tough was the concept. The second one is their matured outlook on what love actually looks like and wanting to know the other person in a loving way. Hence, changing the intense and fiery sort of love to something sweeter.

It wasn't really that the camera operator messed up it was because this was live broadcasted on tv and they aren't allowed to show the tattoos on Jungkook's hand.

yeah so MMA is an award show so there was many different k-pop idols in the audience, the first two that came up and waved were 2/5 members of TXT, who are bts's little brother group who they are super close to and they make amazing music as well!

Hi! The whole performance varies between live film and prerecorded film. Like when Namjoon (RM) is first rapping in the room, it was prerecorded. When he comes out, that's live! Also the whole performance of Mikrokosmos (the cool planets and stars) is prerecorded as well. Jungkook's solo I know is also prerecorded. I remember because there was a video from a fan that showed Jungkook came out live when his solo was being showed. He decided to dance live for ARMY as well! Funny thing about the last song! The step where they fall to the ground was them initially tipping their body over and using gravity to fall to the ground! They had to change it because it was so intense for them, and one of the members hit their chin when they tried to catch themselves with their hands. Some of the performances of Dionysus still have the orginial choreo id you wanna check it out!

They really did this performance untill they faint end of their limit more, when i saw the behind the scene of this performances i cried seeing much how much exhausted they were and jimin ws abt to faint and all 7 members did to end of their energy limit for showcasing this performance not only this in on all other performances too they do perfectly and to the enjoyment for army, i'm literally i respect them a lot to their hardwork and talent

That's why BTS is the biggest band and one of the biggest act in the world. Their concerts are Huge!!

This was always my go to "flexing my tannies" performance I would show to my friends. I've watched this like a couple of times but I always feel like I need to hold my breath especially on dionysus, just out of respect😭💜

Just a little info on the choreography being included in a show thing, for Kpop groups dancing is customary for live shows. If there is a choreography that goes with the song, it's almost 100% certain they'll do that choreography when they perform it live as well

You guys are correct on the whole accent thing. I myself researched it 3 days ago. I am a big fan of Rose from Blackpink. She's born in New Zealand and moved to Australia. So she has an australian accent when speaking in english. But when she sings in english, it disappears. Apparently when singing, you lose your accent.

FINALLY OMG it's so funny to see u guys finally see them as performers not a silly boy from RUN BTS... even I myself shock when I watch RUN BTS and a split second watch some of their performances and then I realize... they're so different when they are on stage!!!

It's actually common for stages/award shows like these and some performances in kpop to be pre-recorded. To add effects etc. (like in mikrokosmus) I think dionysus (last performance) was pre-recorded (shown on the big monitors) AND performed live (obviously there were no horses in the live performance). So don't be confused when you see groups or idols change their clothes in seconds at award shows lol it's common

You all know how their personality and how goofy they are offstage during Run BTS but they are MONSTERS onstage lol and i love the reaction. even when they do karaoke on run bts, they are just goofing around. I hope you react to more live performance of them in the future 😁

this is such an interesting and even unique reaction because usually people only watch these type of performances before they get to know their real personalities but here we have the other way around hahaha i love it

They all are known for their freaking duality. Offstage, very relatable, cute, calm, gentle, humble and amazing personalities. That way they they seem so approachable. But at the same time, very far away on the stage, because of the HUGE amount of talent they have. They are know for their amazing songs which are like all types of genres. Whether it's a happy sgo song, sad songs, hip hop, R&B, EDM, pop, relaxing, etc. Songs related to social issues like cyber bullying, school life, women empowerment, self love, depression, youth and many many more. But more than that, they are known for their live performances. They are amazing performers. THE BEST. The sets are crazy, outfits fire, dancing, back-up groups, camera work, etc. They always sing live, with sometimes a little backtrack sound, as they are also dancing powerfully while singing or rapping. Like in the award shows like this where they have to perform one song after another back to back. But they never lip sync. They are known for their stable live vocals and raps. Ofcourse they also make a little bit of mistakes like voice cracking or other. They are humans so that's normal. But then they feel so depressed about it and will blame themselves, as they said that they feel like they broke ARMYs trust. Like so humble and giving personalities. their concerts are must to attend. It's a saying that there is no need for Disney land when we have BTS concerts. They are CRAZY!!!!! The biggest fandom, with full packed arenas, like the legendary Wembley stadium and Olympic stadium. Btw this award show is in South Korea. They have probably the biggest stadiums and arenas in world, there. They are KINGS 👑💜

The symbol they do with their hands at the end of the first two songs is also the same hand gesture they use to greet as a band. It's both a gun, (since their name means bulletproof) and the number 7, since there's 7 of them. They consider it their band's official hand gesture.

Hard to believe this is an award show isn't it? I died laughing when Wes said "they're using blind horses?". Parts of this performance were pre taped (Mikrokosmos..the song with all the universe stuff) and the part with the live horses for sure...I believe also RM's beginning solo. Their award show performances put them way above most other artists in the world and they turn it into their personal concert. My favourite performance ever....I wish Western award shows would take notes. Thanks for reacting. (Yes..Jimin's dance was a contemporary dance....he had a background in Contemporary dance and some forms of street dance before joining BTS)

"dude, this feels like an anime." yeah, bts are my anime boys in 4D. lol ah yeah, that's modern dance aka contemporary for jimin's solo. 💜 we have a similar journey. i started watching them as entertainers who are so hilarious and just so relatable! and then i checked out their music videos and i dove right into the rabbit hole. never got out since 2018. hehe

The performance you guys just watched was especially grand because it was for an annual award show for kpop, where grand prizes are given out at the end of each year! I could say that BTS live concert performances are also SOO special, they have so many things in store for different songs (stage props, water cannons, fireworks, outfits) that are honestly unlike any other. The overall presence they have when they perform is extremely admirable, combined with how the fans cheer them on is such an experienxe even through video!! I would recommend Magic Shop, So What, Outro:Wings, Outro: Tear, Euphoria, and Just dance for concert performances, and 2021 Festa BTS Room live for another medley live performance with mostly singing!! Thank you guys so much for reacting btw! Your reactions are my personal favorite ones to watch because I can see how much you guys get into the content and actually become so interested in it. I enjoy hearing your inputs, and your reaction to this performance is extremely enjoyable because of how you became more familiar with their fun side before their professional one!
