The Key-tar is the star of this song! Mummy Dust is like Snake Oil. something you are selling that has no real value or benefit. "in God We Trust" its on our money....or our Mummy Dust. Wait till you see it live.

Check both versions, this and the live one, almost feels like different songs because Tobias does growling vocals

The live version, ESPECIALLY the 2022 live version, is sooooo heavy and fun. And Tobias goes full death metal with the vocals, not this diet version on the album. But the reason I recommend the 2022 version is the ghoul synth solo is the best in 2022.

This song is on another level when it’s live. They are the best to see live. It’s a whole other band.

Definitely a favorite of mine, too! I was about 8 feet from the stage on the Popestar tour. The confetti cannon fires off during the keytar solo. I scored a $666 bill with Papa III on it. 😎

That "cleaning the living room" joke killed ME hahahaha I'm glad you like Mummy dust! definitely one of my favorites (although I say that about almost every Ghost song, tbh). The keytar here sounds awesome, but please check out the live version!!!

Haha can’t unsee that image of a baby papa watching his mum dust the house now 😂😂😂 This track is about money so they shoot Ghost themed money over the crowd when they do this live. Tobias said in Sweden ‘mummy dust’ is a common expression parents use with their kids when cooking and such, as in ‘sprinkling some mummy dust’ into the recipe. So when he says mummy dust he’s saying money is nothing, it’s invisible bullshit. I’d never heard the phrase before so I was always thinking of Boris Karloff shit haha. The live videos are awesome, but the live version from the Ceremony and Devotion live album is definately worth checking out, as well as Monstrance Clock from that album, preferably with the lead in of Tobias talking and i ntroducing the track which starts at the end of the previous track. That version made me fall in love with Monstrance Clock way more. What a concert closer.

If no one has said it yet - the melody that plays through Spoksonat is the same as the ending heavy riff in Rats.

To answer your question, Tobias is saying "In God we trust", as is written on American money. The "mummy dust" in question is money and earthly wealth - the stuff that was buried with mummies because the Egyptians thought they could take it with them. We know we can't but still people still hoard more wealth than they could spend in 100 lifetimes. This song's a comment on that. During this song at live shows, they shoot "mummy dust" fake money with Papa's face on it out of cannons. Still got some from the last time I saw them!

Mummy Dust is the European (Scandinavian especially) equivalent of "snake oil".
