    I think everyone is very curious to hear what an 8-10+ minute song would sound like, especially coming from the mind of Kanami. One day. . . 🤞 Miku could not play the guitar at all when she started the band. I don't think she played any instrument! It was all on the job training under the instruction of Kanami. 8 hours a day practicing, and hating most of it. Then she got over the hump and is now taking lead in some sections. Going from not playing guitar to having your own signature model Zemaitis in 7-8 years is insane! 🕊

    "Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are almost single-handedly bringing back the joys and soulfulness of rock for people from all places and ages to hear. Here's a great live MV of "Choose Me" that's not quite as punchy do to the mix, but still good: kzread.info/dash/bejne/epely9abiMrPl7g.html Thx, RdR!

    Miku didn't play any instrument when she put Band Maid together, it was only when Saiki was recruited for lead vocals that she was persuaded to learn rhythm rather than simply wearing the guitar as a necklace. By her own words it was a struggle and she hated it for 3 years but as everyone knows who's tried to learn an instrument there comes that point after hard work and dedication when it all comes together and it is no longer a massive chore, fortunately that is exactly what happened to Miku and as can be seen in their live performances from 2017 on she's a rockstar.

    Miku picked up the guitar after she was told it was needed to give the band a fuller sound. There was some consideration for the second singer but they decided Saiki was not suited. So Miku said she would learn the guitar only if Kanami would be her sensei. One other reason was Miku did not want another band member.

She does so many "unnecessary" additions which elevate each and every song to another level. The thing is, after a BAND-MAID song I often look at the length at wonder "How was that only 4 minutes, so much happened". Their songs are so densely packed that you don't miss anything afterwards. With 6-10 minute songs I really need them to use the extra time. If they just repeat the same material over and over I'd rather listen to 3 shorter songs. But that comes down to personal preference.

    😆That face once once the instruments kicks in: It got ya. This is more of a pop-rock song from early 00’s than say pop-punk, but yeah most pop-rock doesn’t rock this hard. Pop-rock (or pop-punk ftm) aren’t supposed to have shredding solos. The level of skill and nuance on display while still having an easy to follow melodies is a real skill.

    Plenty to choose from to see MISA and Akane "goin' to town" - the solo sections from Rinne or The Dragon Cries MV's for example, and then of course there are whole songs where they basically stay in town for the whole song. In fact they had to check into a Residence Inn to get the monthly rate😀 (Like Black Hole and No God)

    The first rule of show business is, “always leave them wanting more.” It’s common for Japanese bands to sprinkle English words into their songs, because it “sounds cool.” SAIKI doesn’t speak English, but my heart melts every time I hear her say, “I choose you.” KOBATO writes the lyrics. English is a very difficult language to learn, for many different reasons. If you like long songs, check out the band EARTHLESS.

Try Dragon Cries kzread.info/dash/bejne/pZ95zdKol9bTdZM.html It's not a long drum/bass solo, but it's amazing, and fit perfectly in the felling of the song (like anything they do). Nice reaction. As for the length of their tracks, I've heard in interviews that they are very conscious about keeping it in the 3 to 4 min range. Miku likened it to food, that essentially that their songs are dense and high calorie that too much and your stomach gets too full. She didn't say this part but Japanese has a saying that you shouldn't eat more than being up to 80% full. For a song that's not "Anime" sounding, you might want to check out The Dragon Cries. It has a very different sound from their usual stuff because its the only song of theirs that was produced by a western producer, Tony Visconti who was a long time producer of David Bowie and T-REx amongst others. The vocals were recorded in Tony's NYC studio. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pZ95zdKol9bTdZM.html

    You always remark about how things are produced and mixed. The band is produced and mixed by Kanami. The band does every single thing themselves. The only producer since they started writing all their own material was Tony Viscontti of David Bowie fame who produced the vocals for The Dragon Cries with Miku and Saiki in NYC. Those lyrics are all English. The music was already in the can before Miku and Sai-chan went to Tony's studio in NYC. He also received a partial songwriting credit under a pseudonym for his efforts in changing the partial English into fully English. Band-Maid writes the song, arranges the song, records the song, mixes the song and fully produces the song. Is there any other band you can say that about? "We are holding up the flag."-Miku.

    She didn't play well prior to the band?.....She didn't play AT ALL!..EVEN when she started BAND-MAID...In their first MV she is just holding the guitar pretty much....That's why alot of critics said they were fakeing and couldn't actually play the instruments.....To answer this..the ladies brought out covers of some tracks to show they could!....Only 2 of these videos are still up on YT...Kanami doing a "ONE ROCK OK" cover and Akane doing a "Maximum the Hormone" drum cover...MISA's has gone MIA...Once Saiki joined the band..the ladies(possibly Akane) said if Miku was gonna hold a guitar to balance the look...Then she might as well learn to play it!....So she was taught to play by Kanami while on the job...Now look at her...Fronting the best rock band today!..You Rock Miku!!! 🌹🤘🤪🤘🥰

    I had to learn a bunch of languages, and for me English (which is my 3rd) was the easiest and Japanese the hardest. However if you were Japanese, English would be pretty hard. It depends on what languages you already know and how similar the concepts behind them are. Mixing languages is pretty easy for me. You don't get an idea of how good of a guitarist Miku is from the studio versions of their songs, since all the guitars are recorded by Kanami.

    In any decent Japanese school, English is a required course. So a majority of Japanese can read English, and have at least some level of speaking and hearing. However it's hard to find Japanese actually speaking English. There's some level of embarrassment when they are not experts. Not so Miku. She embodies the samurai spirit. 🙂

    @rolandkarlsson70724 ай бұрын

    Japanese have a hard time learning to pronounce other languages if they do not do it at very young age. The reason is that Japanese is very limited sound wise. They have very few sounds and the words are strictly built by using syllables with one consonant and one vowel sound. That's why they say BAN-DO MAY-DU instead of BAND-MAID and MA-CO-DO-NA-RU instead of Mac Donalds. Instead of my name Roland, they say RO-RAN-DO. And hot coffee is HOT-TO CO-HI and Ice cream is AJ-SEE-CREE-MO. So, do not under estimate a Japanese lady singing in English. It is very impressive.
