@@TheMissblue2u Back in the nineties their first 2 albums they started a small base here in the states. Some of us into German Industrial and metal. I saw them support KMFDM in a small venue called The Edge in Cali. They toured bigger venues in support of Mutter. But they quit touring in the States for that long stretch for I think 9 years. And they just got bigger as rock gods in Europe. They just aren't seen as a monster rock band in the states by the general population despite having a large fanbase here to support them.

9:07 There's a whole story why Flake is on a treadmill. He didn't want to join Rammstein at first because he thought he would be bored playing keyboard during concerts. They promised him he wouldn't get bored. In earlier days they put him on a Segway with keyboard attached to it, until he ran over Till. They then put him on a treadmill. That, combined with the burning/boiling/kicking/... he undergoes on stage

A lot of people believe that this is about a sadomasochistic relationship and he is the one inflicting the pain, but When he sings "Ich seh’ im Spiegel dein Gesicht" " I see your face in the mirror" hints that the person he’s singing about is actually himself. I believe that the song is instead about self-harm and the pain and pleasure associated with it.

hi! yes definitely I think a lot of people miss that on reactions I've seen. It applies to many of their songs really, I mean even in Dicke Titten there is similar hint in a similar manner in how to take the song in one line too, there seems to be something of a recurring theme?

Yes, it's about self-harm. Look at their videos. All the stuff, Till's blood, it's all real. If he has a light in his mouth, he has a cut somewhere for the electric power. So it's not just about self-harm in general, but could be about what Till does to himself. He is a crazy guy, and usually their songs have a hidden meaning 🤷‍♂️

Being at a Rammstein show is an experience for itself. I was at their concert in MetLife Stadium, NJ, 2022 and even if you're not in the "Feuerzone" (the first few rows) you can still feel the bass in your chest and the heat on full blast. Everyone does love Rammstein, no matter the age, so everyone sings, claps together and the energy is amazing. Best live band! Also, Rammstein just get better with age. Very few bands have been able to do what they have with just being around for so long, who keep putting out amazing albums and songs.

Definitely an experience, an epic, wonderful, incredible and utterly addictive experience! Like when it's been too long since I have last seen them live it is like a craving, a longing and need to experience it again! I saw both of the UK shows from the 2022 tour, and yeah the sound, the bass, it really was a "wall of sound", like that's the closest way to describe it for me. A wall of sound in the absolute best way. And the pyro and the heat, yes, my experience is that pretty much wherever you are in the arena/stadium/audience, you will feel the heat! On the European Tour 2022, of the UK dates they played Coventry first, a city in the English midlands, and it was glorious weather, but it was a bit strange for me because of the show started at 8pm on the dot, at which point in the UK, only a couple of days past the summer solstice (longest day of the year) it was fully daylight still, and sunshine blue skies daylight, which I found a bit surreal, but what a great show! A few days later I saw them in Cardiff, Wales, and it had been reasonable weather for most of the day (although I was travelling so maybe I just had decent weather!) But as the show started in Cardiff, again promptly at 20:00, clouds were starting to gather and it ended up absolutely persisting it down at least at one point, shortly before they would have been moving to the B stage for Engel. My seat was not as amazing as at Coventry, but I was under the cover of the mid tier above me which dampened the sound a little, but kept me dry! But the heavy clouds and darkened sky, it just made it so much better atmosphere for the show IMO. The people in general admission who got drenched might have a different opinion, idk lol, they mostly looked happy to me!!

I saw Rammstein for the first time in the early 90s in a tent in Vienna in front of maybe 1000 visitors and I was already enthusiastic back then. I was maybe 10m away from the band and there wasn't a spectacular show back then, but Till breathed fire and the music was awesome anyway. I never would have thought that a German-speaking band would one day become absolute world stars. In 2022 I saw Rammstein again, this time with 35,000 fans and currently there is nothing that can compete with the show. Lindemann is also a trained pyrotechnician and that also explains the stage show.

And if you want pyro. Watch the 2022 show. They used 1000 liters for each show. And I was in the Feuerzone for one of them (first 20 or so rows cost extra cause of the fire). The lyrics of this song deal with a SM relationship. At least that's what it appears to be in the beginning. Singing about pinning medals into someone's face, inserting barbed wire into the urethra, hard kicks and punches, an already deformed and heavily scarred body. A little cut turns you on. No matter what is done, allowed is what gives pleasure. Basically that's just the first verse. The chorus is "I cause you pain, Doesn't bother me, It hurts you good, When you scream." However, another interpretation is that it is a self-harming situation when he sees himself in the mirror, and he punishes himself for real or imagined wrong doing. It's definitely not a nice song. The title means "I hurt you", or "I cause you pain". Again, like any translation a lot gets lost, especially in deeper lyrics that border on disturbing poems like many Rammstein songs. Till Lindemann writes these with multiple meanings in mind that certain inflections may impart when used in German. This means that depending on how you approach the lyrics they are able to mean at least two different things.

As of treadmills -- this show tells the story how Flake ended up on one. During the first songs of the concert he was just standing by his keyboard in that ridiculous trench coat, and after this he was in a new even more ridiculous sparkling suit and on a treadmill. You can imagine an argument following the "death" of Flake: Till: "Mua-ha-ha" Richard: "What? You've killed our keyboard player, you! Who will play my precious samples? Who will play keys?" Paul: "Serves him right! And you can play all that crap yourself -- my guitar is enough!" Olly, seeing the fight in brewing: "Guys, stop fighting, maybe we can find some solution? Maybe we put Flake back -- he is a good guy essentially, just bored to stand on a stage only to push a key or two now and then..." Christoph: "Enough! We need a keyboardist now. Till, get out and chill a bit! Richard, Paul -- on your places! Olly, play a bass solo to entertain the audience. Flake, on your place! Stage manager -- put a treadmill there and start it as soon as Flake gets on it. Exercise makes a man disciplined. On my beat -- one, two, one-two-three-four,now!"

If you like Pyros, watch something of their 2019 or 2022 stuff, best at St Petersburg or Moscow Multicam. Especially "Sonne" or their song "Rammstein". Basically the whole stadium is on fire.

If you want a running Track, than I reccomend "Benzin" (also from the MSG show in USA). The Song is about the desperate need of gasoline, no drugs, no coffeine, just gasoline,in best quality, but without lead... I once saw their life performance in the big stadium in Berlin, and I can see why Till needs gasoline..

Check out “Engel” from the same show! Also, you are right, their songs almost all the time have the same time signature and driving riffs. Oh and that pyro in the US is really dialled back. I went to some shows in the early 2000s and was in fear of losing my hair when I wasn’t even that close to the stage xd PS: Babymetal just announced their US tour for this year, so get tor ticket quickly!

You can definitely do pyro in the US. If you search for "Rammstein fire backpack" and check out the video or images.. you will see Till wearing a backpack that shoots our flames in almost all directions 20-30 feet in length. I caught them in LA Sept 2022, and their show was initially 45 minutes of music with a little pyro... after that... it became a pyro show with some music as part of it. It was amazing!

During their 2022 tour in U.S. during their Philadelphia show it looked like the stadium they were playing at looked like it was being bombed. Especially if you were passing or driving by (I95 is right next to it) and didn't know what was up.

If you like Pyro you must watch the song Benzin from the same concert. Till sets a man on fire in MSG!!! If you want to see how they set a stadium on fire watch out for a good live video of the song Sonne from 2019 or 2022 /23. Rammstein are legends above legends. But the three most important things about them are lyrics lyrics and lyrics. Greetings from Germany

Have to keep in mind that Till is 60 doing this There is a YT video of an incident in the 90s during one of thier early shows of a piece of framing or light bar or somthing that got lit on fire from one of the pyros almost dropping on Till, and aside from a 'gahh' reaction, he never actually broke and lost the song, and then went up to it, picked up an end that wasnt on fire, and just tossed the whole thing aside. Kept right on singing like he deals with this all day. Iirc, its what led him to take the classes to get his pyro license.

Listening to Rammstein albums is merely where you learn the songs. Seeing them live for the first time was life changing for me, it's insane because like you said they're so heavy live, and you get an S Rank firework show while they're at it. I've seen Metallica, Motorhead, and Alice Cooper all live, arguably the greats of live rock music, and nobody puts on a show like Rammstein. Till was riding around a mechanized penis spraying foam into the crowd, I forget which song it was.

Gonna be the nerd and spoil the tub-stunt: Flake (keyboarder) has a coat of a material similar to a fire extinguishing blanket. The MOMENT Till (singer) drops him in the tub he takes it off and puts it over himself. The sparkly suit is already below. Till "rising up" gives him the time for that. The sparks that rain down aren't THAT hot, and go out the moment they touch anything. Lastly, the pyro-charges going off are all directional upwards, nothing goes towards Flake.

Listen to Die Sonne and remember this story. Till was married years ago, but his wife died. I believe Cancer. He wrote Die Sonne after. Its a Song Warning Heaven that She is coming! And the whole world counts to ten! He starts Counting in German to ten. Hier Kommt die Sonne! (Here Comes The Sun! She is the Brightest Star That Shines. Here comes the Sun!) A very poignant goodbye sung with powerful strength by Till.
