This song was written by Professor Dimash, with whom he studied composition at the University of Arts. In those days in the summer of 2020, in Kazakhstan, as well as throughout the world, many people died from Covid, even more people got sick, and many were left without work. And against the backdrop of all this, the Astana authorities staged a grandiose fireworks display in honor of the 80th anniversary of the long-time dictator and former president of the country Nazarbayev. People were deeply shocked and outraged, but all famous, popular people were afraid to express their indignation publicly. And only Dimash wrote an indignant post on Instagram. He wrote that if taxpayers' money is so thoughtlessly spent on fireworks and not on medicine, then soon there will be no one to watch these fireworks. This post of his had a very big response.

History of Qaragym Ai. The history of this song is as follows. About 25 years ago, the Kazakh poet Shomishpay Sariev wrote the lyrics of the song "Karagym Ai” and dedicated it to his daughter who was getting married. The father put his feelings in the text regarding his concern: what the life of the daughter with her boyfriend? What awaits her? And shares with the daughter about the meaning of life. The poet argues that the most important meaning of life is love. Life lived without love is empty. The poet ask: “Is every life lived without love equivalent to a day lived in love?” It is always sad to leave home and cross the threshold of someone else's house. That's why it's also a bit sad moment for a daughter. After all, the girl's tears are not from pain, but only from regret when they are separated from her native village, her relatives. The poet asked his friend the famous Kazakh composer Kenes Duisekeev to write music. The composer, while writing the music for the song, remembers his only sister, who she did not have time to marry and died at the age of 19. He dreamed what a father would have felt if she had gotten married. Therefore, the song turned out not only about the poet's daughter, who is getting married, but about the composer's sister, who did not live to see her wedding. Therefore, the song feels sorry, sadness of failed love. Greetings from Panama

Dimash and the professor were gr8 friends. He died from covid, The professor asked Dimash to sing this song rftr he died, hence the palpable emotions. They got to know each other because Dimash wanted to sing one of the professors songs, he was very young, and the the professor tght Dimash was to young to be able to really bring forth the message of it. So Dimash had to sing the song to the professor b4 he cud make a decision on allowing dimash to perform it or not. The proff was astounded at Dimash's ability to understand the depths of its meaning. At the performance the proff gave Dimash a standing ovation, and from that time they were firm friends to the end.

This performance always makes me cry. There is a video of Dimash singing this song in 2016, in front of his professor, and it was not so sad. Well it wouldn't be, as it was a celebration performance. But I totally agree with you John, my favorite Dimash songs are not his vocally impressive songs, but the emotional ones, where he puts his heart and soul into it. Amanat, Mahabbat Ber Magan, Qairan Elim.

Thanks so much John for reacting to this gem! As you said, Dimash's stripped back performances tend to be overlooked. But, as you also mentioned, those soft moments, filled with tons of emotions, are a huge part of Dimash's essence as an artist. Dimash has otherworldly technical skills but he uses them to provide to himself limitless artistic expression. That, combined with his deep emotional response to music, is what creates the masterpieces that he shares with us. Not just his range. Even in his more "flashy" performances, one should look for "how" and "what purpose" Dimash is using his multiple registers. Because it's always about text painting, it's never about showing off. You're one of the few reactors I follow consistently, exactly because you see and appreciate Dimash in his wholeness. Thank you ❤

John, thank you for your sincere reaction. It is impossible to listen to this song without tears. The song "Qaragum Ai" became the music of personal mourning, a heartbreaking requiem for the teacher, friend Kenes Duisekeyev, who died as a result of covid. The song was performed in October 2020 without an audience at a concert in Nur-Sultan dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the concert organization in Kazakhstan - "Kazakhconcert". The auditorium is empty, there were no live concerts in October. There are only two men on stage - singer Dimash and pianist Adilzhan Tolykpaev. The endless loneliness and pain of two men shaken by a senseless death. Two of the teacher's students, who have already become creators themselves, are grieving. 🙏❤️

The song is called Qaragym Aì (or Appel of My Eye) and was written by Kenes Duisekeyev many years ago. The lyrics are from a Kazakh poet who dedicated this song to his daughter who was getting married. He wanted to express his concern and feelings about what his daughter's future might hold. Kenes Duisekeyev wrote the song thinking about his own sister, who couldn't get married because she died at the age of 19. This special performance has a sad occasion. The composer of this song was also a teacher of Dimash and he died from Covid in 2020. Dimash was devastated. He sang this song in memory of Kenes Duisekeyev. The pain Dimash shows is literally palpable. It hurts so much to see him like this😥. Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

This beautiful and heartwarming kazakh song sung divinely and emotionally by Dimash is the proof that who say that Dimash is just high notes, screams, and vocal range, and he's a robot that is not capable of transmit emotions because is too much perfect and technical is absolutely and undoubtedly wrong..But obviously who say these bullshit are just jealous and envy people and poor loser haters..And not only this song,in the repertoire of Dimash are the majority the songs without high notes..For example if with songs like Ikanaide,Marigold,Amanat,If i never breath again,Omir,Give me love,Omir oter, and many other there are who don't get excited is not a problem of Dimash that doesn't transmit but is a problem of these people who have no heart and soul..Dimash is absolutely capable of transmit every emotion because he not only sing the songs but also he lives the songs and tell them to you..For me Dimash is the most emotional and versatile singer in existence and of the history..The Boss King Angel Dimash Forever

I just want to appreciate you reacting to this song that few reactors react to...because it doesn't have the usual Dimash fireworks. But it's emotional simplicity, i believe, makes it even more impactful. Another one of his simple and emotional song is his cover of a Ukrainian folk song Marigolds. The control is incredible. To regulate each note technically and emotionally to such a degree takes enormous grace and finesse. In a sing like this...timing is everything. D8mash is a master at focus and the art of transference of emotion into music perfectly. Sure...he has worked hard and trained. But it takes depth and real talent to deliver and sing like that. Thank you John for your sensitivity and maturity in your reaction. This music may not be the kind of Rollercoaster ride many look for from Dimash...but that's too bad. For me..it is an even more stunning and intense one.

It's a shame so few people choose it to react to since it's "missing" his usual vocal pyrotechnics. It's these songs that caress a chill on our ears and hearts which display his exquisite technique.

The story of the song "Qaragym-ay" / "My dear". Lyrics written by Sariev Shomishbay. Music written by Duysekeev Kenes. Poet Sariev dedicates these poems to his daughter, who is getting married. In the poems, the poet conveys his feelings about how the life of his daughter will turn out with her chosen one. Father shares thoughts on the meaning of life with his daughter. In his opinion, the main meaning of life is Love. Without love, life is empty. The poet asked a friend, composer Duisekeev, to write music for his poems. The composer remembered his only sister who died when she was 19 years old. She didn't get married. That's why the song also feels the pinching sadness of the failed love. Dimash performed the song "Qaragym-ay" on April 9, 2016 at a concert dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the composer Kenes Duisekeev. The composer was surprised by how Dimash was able to understand and convey the deep meaning of the song, despite his young age (Dimasha was 21 at the time.). After the performance of the song, the composer applauded Dimasha with the words BRAVO!!!". Composer Kenes Duysekeev was Dimash's teacher at the university. He died on July 9, 2020 from Covid-19. Dimash sang this song in memory of the composer. On the stage behind Dimash you see a portrait of Kenes Duisekeev. In the version of the Dimash Digital Show the piano player is Zarina Bozhakova, singer, friend and one of the back vocalist of Dimash. Zarina 🎼🔝🎤❤️🌹🌹👏👏👏👏👏

Thank you John! This song is very powerful, and not because of vocal acrobatics, but for the emotions that Dimash makes you feel in every single verse. He is such a wonderful story teller and He know how to make the audience feel the song without even knowing the language! ❤ He is just amazing in every single way! You should react to “Diva Dance” and “Across Endless dimensions” @

This is one of my favorites from his "Kazakh collection", along with Akkuym. It also has the classic piano song ("Klavierlied") feeling to it. And it is live as we can see from the veins on his neck.

I rarely listen to this song because the number of deaths in my life over the last 4 years has been very overwhelming. I generally avoid the Dimash "heart wrenching" songs because I need more happiness and less tears at this time. 🙄🫤 Must admit he sings so beautifully in this ballad. Another beautiful song I avoid regularly is Marigolds.😢 Great reaction John. So happy that you are able to appreciate all musical techniques, not just vocal acrobatics.❤️ 🥰🥰🥰🇨🇦

Hello John. I am very pleased , you choose a beautiful song to react. This is a very emotional and beautiful song. The composer of this song was Dimash's teacher "Shomishbay Nagashbaevich" and the writer is "Kenes Duisekeyev" this is actually very sad song its about 19 years old sister of Dimash's teacher, who passed away. And Mr. Nagashbaevich wanted someone to sing this song, who could deliver the true feeling of his. So he knew only Dimash can do it, and he conveys the feeling( how beautiful is that) . This song was written 25 years ago but got released in 2020 and stayed in the top 10 charts for 67 weeks. Dimash is a true artist, I never get tired of his beautiful voice. ❤

Yes, this kind of song and performance gets me so much more, because of the powerful yet heartened voice. For example, we have another song in his digital show that is very emotional too. Or Samaltau in Tokio Jazz Festival or the beautiful song Omir. You reacting to Dimash and EXO, simply wonderful! 👏 The King of singers, and the Emperors of KPOP👌

When Dimash was younger he wanted to sing this and the composer didn't think he would be able to convey the emotions needed for this beautiful song, but agreed to see if he could do it as intended. Of course, he did it perfectly! The composer, one of his teachers, is the gentleman in the picture behind him and this performance was a tribute to him after his death. The emotion in this performance was real for Dimash as he has always had great respect and love for his teachers. It is a beautiful song. Thank you for your reaction 😊🙏💕

Dimash dedicated his performance to the great composer and Honored Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kenes Duisekeyev who died of Covid in 2020 Kenes Duisekeyev was Dimash's teacher/mentor in the master's program of the Kazakh National University of Arts. Story of the song creation: The words of this composition were written more than 25 years ago and they were dedicated to the daughter of Shomishbay Sariev, who was getting married. At the request of his friend Shomishbay Nagashbaevich, Kenes Duysekeyev wrote music to the words, which in turn reflected the composer's sadness about the never-come true wedding of his 19-year-old sister, who had passed away. In the performance of Dimash, this song came to life in the composer's memories, which he was pleased with. According to the composer, Dimash was able to convey to the audience those emotions and feelings that the author of the words and himself put into them. After all, the meaning of the author's words carry one thing - love. Personal mourning in this empty hall with only the pianist Adilzhan Tolykpaev who was also a student of Keynes Dimash spoke in an interview about Keynes his mentor teacher that Keynes always had a stern face and that made his students sometimes nervous Dimash said that he often went into kenes office and they drank tea together Dimash said he felt like visiting his grandpa
