As I understand it is from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and was meant for one person but they split the song to be performed by the two of them. This song comes from Notre-Dame de Paris, a 1998 French musical. He was accompanied by Kazakh opera singer Sundet Baigozhin. This song has been performed by several French singers much older than Dimash (he was 22 during this performance in 2016) but no one performed it with as much intensity and emotion as Dimash. I know this because I listened to all the songs from Notre-Dame de Paris, one of my favorite French musicals (I'm french from Québec, Canada). Thank you John for this reaction, it brings back beautiful memories.🙏❤❤

This is one of my favourite performances - this was before Dimash went to China for “I Am Singer”. Here’s a bit of blurb on the song/duet - not sure where from: “A fragment from the musical "Notre-Dame de Paris" is performed by Sundet Baigozhin and Dimash Kudaibergen. Opera singer from Kazakhstan Sundet Baigozhin participated in the Big Opera 2016 competition on Russian TV. This is a professional competition for young opera singers. At one of the stages, the participants had to sing a duet with guest singers. Baritone Sundet invited tenor Dimash to perform in a duet. Dimash is 22 years old here. At this stage of the competition, Sundet Baigozhin took the lead, as a result, he reached the final. And then he became a soloist of the Rome Opera House.“ 🙏🏻🇦🇺❤️

Hello John. Thought you would enjoy the duets this month. They are kind of different. Sundet is a true operatic baritone so darker and in his case he can go lower rather than higher in his range. This was his competition and they needed to do a duet so he asked Dimash. Sundet is also from Kazakhstan

Dimash is quite young here. Saw this video years ago. Just saying , and inspite of his youthfulness the quality of his voice is amazing. Did u know hexwas offered a place in Kazakhstan's Opera House, but declined because he wanted the freedom to explore all genres and discover new ones. Whuch ofcourse that is exactly what he is achieving . Great job.

👍👍As far as I know, this duet was possible thanks to this partner and friend Sundet Baigozhin, Kazakh opera singer. The latter allowed Dimash to make himself known on the Russian scene (here during a TV show). It was I think in 2016. The first time I heard it, I thought for a moment that their voice tones were identical, and then... Dimash did the rest. There is another Kazakh singer and friend of Dimash, with whom he also did duets, who has the same sweetness in his voice. Thank you John Reaves, greetings from France

This song is from the French musical Notre Dame of Paris. It is the story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame--the main character Frollo, the Arch Deacon of Notre Dame,, falls in love (actually lust) with Esmerelda, a woman with a bohemian lifestyle. He was tempted by thoughts of her and struggles with his priesthood and his lust for her. The song has a sense that he is arguing with himself--he knows his lust for her will destroy him, but also knows that he cannot resist and that at heart, he doesn't really want to. It is not sung as a duet in the musical, but here it is almost as if the two of them represent two aspects of his divided nature, the lustful tempted one (which is presented as a sin) and the virtuous priest who is trying to resist her, dueling with each other

Although I think the other singer sounds more French. The French deliberately run words together. This is one of my many favorite Dimash performances because if falls below the radar for most reactors. I agree he's good in his short videos, but I worry that full movie productions would hog too much of his singing time, which I want even more.

There are so many layers to this performance, especially if you know Russian literature : This is a mirror of the duel that ended the life on famous Russian writer, Pushkin. BTW - Have you seen the video of him singing with famous soprano, Zarina? They have a spectacular performance of "A Question of Honor" + the aria from "La Wally" - "Ebben ne andro lontano".

Its beautiful, song actually there are many 1- I miss you( either his MV or concert one has 2.1 million viewers). 2 - The Crown ( it is chinees and has 1.8 million viewers) both of them are very beautiful. Man ļoti patīk šis duets. Tas bija 2016. gadā, kad Sundets piedalījās konkursā Krievijā "Lielā Opera". Dimašs ir Dimašs, bet arī Sundetam ir ļoti skaista un spēcīga balss

One of my favourite duets, I like that so much. Not sure why this one is not that popular and mostly omitted. Maybe due to a lower recording quality, not sure if someone hasn’t remastered that yet. It sounded much better to me. I might be wrong. However a huge appreciation for Sundet Baigozhin, he was that time already an experienced opera singer in Astana Opera. Very mature baritone voice, his French very well mastered as expected by opera singers. I need to point that out because when concentrating on Dimash only we sometimes forget to give the credits to the other vocalist ☺️ Dimash so young here and yet showcasing his ability in all aspects (vocal range, vocal styles, great emotinal expression, acting). I’m so happy for this reaction, John.
