"Viking Metal", I find it quite amusing that part of Nordic history and image some bands lyrics are inspired by, defines a genre of heavy metal. Sabaton wrote a song about the battleship Bismarck, so according to the "Viking Metal" logic, Sabaton are the pioneers of "Battleship Metal" . Or the album Leviathan by Mastodon, oh boy, we got "Whaling Metal". On the other side of the spectrum to Mastodon, we got Gojira, with some lovely "Enviromental Metal". Sheesh, I rest my case.
