I love how Morden teams up with aliens, mytholigical monsters and has giant machines and in the end he still gets defeated. Same with the fact that Morden helped the team on so many ocasions like helping them against the venusians and like a year later he tries to take over the world with robots again

The final boss may have been impossible to defeat with only your pistol and 10 grenades but when playing through the whole final mission, it's possible to defeat the boss without getting a time's up. You just have to get stocked up on weapons and grenades and bring to the boss and use it appropriately and correctly

Well i had the Anthology (1-6 + X) but i havent liked the martians/monsters ennemies at first but doing the game on Steam made me love the first 3 games

I love how Alan survives every game (even being eaten by a whale) because he has a family to go back to. So he just does. Then presumably gets bored and goes to fight for Morden again

Metal Slug bosses were so fascinating, just like the vintage gijoe vehicles.. Weapons everywhere, seats everywhere, characters coming off just about everywhere

You can. You just gotta get lucky with a weapon drop. Or have Ralf/Leona bust it up with there special ability. Since it easily kills phase 1. It's hard to do it without dying though since you need to get close enough. Ralf's 2nd ability doesn't help either. Since he'll never get to use that 2nd chance.

You can beat it without dying by time over if you manage to save powerful weapons. I think that you can get a shot-gun before the battle which makes the fight against the tentacles faster. Sometimes the tentacles drop weapons or bombs too so you also need to be lucky.

This brings me back memories. Thank you

Metal Slug 2 and 3 added so much to the serie, then the 5th game has a completely new army and new music style, then episode 6 had new aliens, finally seven (or XX) is the best handheld metal slug game (compared to the NGP and GBA game). What would a new one even provide in this day and age? 7 of these games in the main series alone exist they all play the same you run you shoot at enemies till they die with the occasional bullet sponge boss fight and it's time to give it a rest, listen I like the games but nothing lasts forever and it's the same reason​ why mega man got by reusing graphical assets or using cheap ones with less effort in general (particularly the X series) thus easier to shit out. Both Contra, Mega Man and Metal Slug are dead for a reason partly because of stale gameplay and were not THAT popular to begin with if I'm being quite honest meaning no point in investing in another entry because pushing collections of older games take less effort and money to make (see the mega man legacy collection). If capcom ever decides to put another game out it better be a Legends 3 because I could see a 3D game getting much more attention if done right. ZX/ZX Advent for example had a metroidvania style with transformations a with similar side scrolling action the series is known for so I can forgive that for trying something different at the very least.

I will honestly say that you put me to shame, but I'm glad to get the schooling on this one, dude. Your only death was the Time Over, which is a true pass, since that boss can't be beaten within the time limit

Union & Allen O'Neil are my favorite bosses in this game. Even if you defeat two parts of Union, you keep dealing with those parts, and Allen, is an amazing and epic battle between two colossus.

I will never forget Metal Slug 7

Morden's army from the future travels to the past to help him. They already featured aliens in 3, cultists in 5, and different aliens in 6. 4's premise is the weakest iirc, just a billionaire guy and his private army. The business man introduced in the first level of Metal Slug 2

It makes me wonder why they reused the rebels voices like in the original Neo-Geo games, but then used MS6's for XX. Sure wish they have an option to switch between that for nostalgic purposes.

I love MSA because the enemies are so detailed and creatively made

By the way, if you like obscure games (and I know you do) and shooters which play like Contra or Metal Slug, you should definitely check out the arcade-only Dolphin Blue or Commando: Steel Disaster for the NDS.

I love the designs of all these bosses but I can't help but feel like the game missed out for it's lack of supernatural stuff like the previous games had. We coulda had a Metal Slug game where we fight VAMPIRES or BIGFOOT Oh well.

When you realise that the Rebel use all of those Giant to fight a Marco and only send some rockets with militia to an enemy base
