A friend's band once opened for Cloven Hoof. Sat in the bar with the support band before the show we realised that everyone there was there to see them other than a couple of guys sat next to us so we leaned over and asked them if they were there to see "our" band or Cloven Hoof ........ their reply "we ARE Cloven Hoof"

Cloven Hoof was so disgustingly and criminally under rated.

Excellent. I had the great pleasure of playing with Cloven Hoof on the Nemesis video. as mentioned in your video. and again on a tour of Greece. I've been good friends with Lee Payne for many years and a great guy and world-class Bass player.

First Cloven Hoof record I ever bought was Sultans ransom. Only cause I had heard a couple of tunes off Dominator. Still playing that record to this day. Fantastic record, fantastic band.

High Roller Records is one hell of a label

Didn't discover them til about 5 years somehow, even though I've been into metal since the 80's. I suggest anyone to check them out for some good, old, straight ahead metal. I prefer the newer stuff, with Resist Or Serve being my favorite, followed by Age Of Steel

I remember that picture of them in different colored outfits and it always stuck with me. That's cool that they used the elements and hey I'm a Gemini too.

I love all their records but the sound and musicianship of the first Ep and first record are my favorites the music is really dark ,Vocals are super dark and epic , lots of darkness in those first records and i love them till this day . I'm planning to visit Wolverhampton, and contacted Cloven Hoof's official website to see if there are any places from CH'S early days I should check out. Lee Payne himself responded to my message by saying that a lot of those places are gone now, but he did recommend some pubs to me that have a rock music theme. I'm surprised that CH never did a cover of a Slade song, since they were also from Wolverhampton.

This channel is awesome, so cool that you aren't just going for the obvious bands that everyone knows. Cloven Hoof's first album is one of my all time faves but I never really got into the other stuff, it wasn't the same without that guy singing.

@@chriskimmel7252 yeah, A Sultan's Ransom alone kicks asses on so many levels. Hoof today still sounds great! Same is with Riot (now Riot V). A gazillion different lineups, but awesome music nevertheless. Manilla Road, King Diamond, Running Wild, etc... I'm trying to understand your point, other than telling me what I should like or don't, because you think differently...

“ Rising Up “ is a fantastic heavy metal song.

Believe it or not, Resist and Serve is my favorite album of theirs. I actually really like the vocalist on this one. I think he has a very cool sounding modern voice. Thanks for making these videos. Very enjoyable.

Always loved their vocals ( especially Russ’s). Reach for Sky is my favorite CH track. Check out Sellsword for a similar vocal style.

Is kind of weird. I never heard about this band and Lizzy Borden of the past video. But when I was searching about them after watching the video, I realized that both bands are kind of mainstream.

I ran across this band about a year ago, after I started getting back into metal and trying to explore the bands I'd missed back in the day. I got into metal age 12 in 1987, and never stopped listening to my favorites, but did stop seeking out new stuff, as I was busy exploring other genres as a musician. Cloven Hoof is definitely one of the hidden gems of the eighties. However, note that Age of Steel is rife with outright Maiden plagiarism. It may be unintentional, as I've accidentally palgiarized things myself (I once "wrote" a song that turned out to be a CoC song that a friend had played for me a few times), but there's one track that's pretty much "Seventh Son" with different lyrics. Some great tunes on that album nonetheless.

I'm in love with this series and criminally underated here on KZread. So for one you kick ass man and two I know its shitty to make request but... can you review leatherwolf, they are another enigma in the metal world and I know you can do them justice as nobody else has. Sincerely metal head number 879
