This is my idea too and I considered the copper color but in a reverse roll so the risers ar against the wall. I'll add lites too but that looks great- you are a craftsman, sir!

The screws at the bottom of the copper metal secure the rat guard (it has a flat flange)

I bought my roof metal from my local metal roofing supplier and the supplier will vary due to your location. Just do a internet search for your area to find a supplier

I used waterproof "green board" and also painted before installing metal

Did you have issues with getting scratched by the screws?
