IU would love your comments lol She loves when an audience understands or notices why she did a certain sound or word in her music. She's very particular and as one of her closest producer mentioned in a documentary before, IU is very aware when she sings on why a certain sound sounds better or why she sang it like that. Something to that effect and it's very interesting.

I completely agree with you on everything you've said. A song sounding distinctly HER. It's stunning. When I listen to this song I get this warmth in my chest, like a hug from a loved one who is consoling me for everything that had happened and hurt me in my twenties. The fight scene on the train car is so real. I feel that in my soul. It was a heavy time but it gives me hope for a spring. A time of beauty after the trauma. Because there are always beautiful things to experience, there's always growth to be had and love to share.

yes! that feeling of the light at the end of the trauma, I think that this song is so well written that anyone can really relate to it, obviously I dont think anyone ever goes through life without and sort of trial, so for that to be able to be reached by everyone? thats really cool

I love your description of her song sounding luxurious. It’s true. It sounds so pretty, but is so fulfilling.

"It just feels like IU" That's one of my favorite things about IU and her music as well. She really feels like her own genre almost but not in an experimental way. She's just IU and her music is so beautiful and unique.

Yeah those are all the albums (and stand-alone singles) she released in her 20s on the board at the beginning, starting with "The Spring of Twenty" (obviously), with the title track "Every End of the Day"; "CHAT-SHIRE" had the title track "Twenty-Three"; then "Palette" which references her being 25 (Jam Jam is also from that album btw). Heart, BBIBBI and Eight were all stand-alone singles; and "A Flower Bookmark" 1 and 2 were cover/remake albums where she did her versions of older Korean songs from like the 1970s-2000s, also great albums.

@@Killdeer25 Well she has been active for about 15 years, and Lilac was her 5th _full_ album, the others are mini albums or singles, but still she has made quite a lot of music!

Lilac is IU's goodbye to her 20's, that train is her 20's, start as a newbie who doesnt know how to dance, eventually try to have fun, struggling/ fighting etc . In the end she got many flowers (symbolize greatness), but then it ended and she get off in her 29 years old "station". Is it a dream? :') -- related to this song is 23 - Palette - Eight, her age series songs. IU's career and legacy are like a dream, indeed. If you understand the kpop/ k-entertainment context, her career is very special, and nobody like her. She's like a special case in k-music history, lol XD

I have been through a lot of groups by now in this channel and I agree. there is no one like IU.

I agree with you about the metaphor for life. How your expectation of being adult is so rose tinted, how amazing it's going to be. Then the fight scenes and the sarcasm in her face as she's singing the line 'love is a misty dream' while quickly eating after the slog. My favorite part is the ending as she's questioning if any of that actually happened and then suddenly the next train is pulling up and we see a mix of curiosity, excitement and definitely some fear as she's looking at what's coming and we don't see what she sees. But then she smiles at the viewer and we know she's ready to take on whatever comes next.

I agree, and one thing I should say is that its an admirable take too, I feel like its very easy for us to see the next chapter in life with some dread, mainly because fear of the unknown.

I suppose I tried describing it before when talking about "eight" and "Strawberry Moon" (I know you haven't heard that one yet), but yeah there is definitely something delicate and warm and.. floaty about her music haha 💜

Lilac's a weird one for me. I almost skipped the reaction. I have nothing really against it, but it gives me a headache for some reason. Kind of plays into the synesthesia thing you mentioned, except for me it's scent rather than colour, it makes me think of flowery perfume, which also gives me a headache.
