So I was talking about these phases in her career before right, and "YOU & I" was in her 2nd phase, the young adult musical cinematic phase; and "Above the Time" came out 8 years later, well into her 3rd phase where she is writing all her own lyrics and some of her own music, but it's worth noting that she did indeed write the lyrics for "Above the Time" but the music was composed by Lee Min-soo, the same person who composed "YOU & I" (while the lyrics for "YOU & I" were written by Kim Eana, a very well-respected songwriter). And I think it's very interesting that this song in some ways is reminiscent of her style back when she did "YOU & I" (specifically the grandiose, theatrical feeling), while at the same time also fitting into her style at the time this was released. "Love poem", the album this was on, is such an amazing album really ("Blueming" is also on this album, and "unlucky", another of my favourites). I can really recommend listening to the "Love poem" album in order at some point and see how you feel about this song in the context of that album, because I really think it fits in that album despite also fitting with "YOU & I" which was 8 years earlier; I don't know I feel like I'm repeating myself haha Also fun fact, at the concert I saw she performed "Above the Time" and "YOU & I" back-to-back, but she performed "Above the Time" _first_ . I'm not sure if there was a specific reason for that, but I thought it was so interesting.

oh absolutely! I was shocked when I was reading the time release date and thought, there is no way it was 8 years apart, it felt so similar and I wonder if sometimes she just really like working in that style of her music, almost like a comfort good you know? Maybe I should do that for an album review? umm interesting, could it be that Above time is first in the story?

@@Killdeer25 Oh if you want to review the Love Poem album at some point, that'd be great, it's also 6 songs so not terribly long. It's a personal favourite for me (though it's tough to pick an absolute favourite album of course), I have a physical copy too and it's so pretty, it's completely styled like a little poetry book, including a dust jacket with an "about the author" section and it has one of those bookmark ribbons.

Love the next chapter! I am in love with this whole story, all the little details like the trains and clocks and the goose that is sometimes a real goose and other times a statue or a toy. I adore the world buiding. It all feels so familiar and yet so original. The last time I felt this immersed in a fantasy world from the west was Harry Potter. I'm not a fan of musicals but if this was one, I'd absolutely watch it.

Love poem the whole album is my favourite.... my most favourite song of iu is also from this album the title song of this album. In short this whole era was incredible. Even love poem tour was also iconic. Love poem, blueming, above the time, visitor every song is a gem. Apart from this special live clip of this song on her official channel is best version of this song. You should check out this if you can. This song lead connection to blueming( she drew a blue rose in ml hand instead of clock ) IU universe is wild and huge even fans have their own theories for this . It is hard for me to remember what it was like the first time I saw the "Above the Time" video. Growing up in Canada, I had more international content than average for North America. When I hear the bridge I hear "Gaelic" and slight "East Indian", but I have seen comments referencing other origins. Not surprisingly, the guy is one she knew from her previous work. You've probably been told often that she is about 30 years old and has been in the entertainment industry for about 15 years now, so roughly half her life, so yes she has worked with a lot of people now.

There are those who believe (including me) that there is a 4th and final part. The her song Strawberry Moon. At the end of Blueming there is the promise of them being together. In Strawberry Moon IU is alone and her phone alarm goes off remind ding her of the Strawberry Moon. She is waiting for the promised return of her Young Blood. Through flashbacks we see that the pair had been together, but as they are sitting on the planets he get up and steps across to another planet. IU does not follow him. He still has a wanderlust. He gives her a necklace promising to meet her again under the Strawberry Moon. We then see him waiting on a stair case under the Strawberry Moon. He looks concerned that she has not come to meet him. I will not tell how it ends, but it does wrap up the story, if you wish to believe that Stawberry Moon is part 4. Kim Edna write You & I IU wrote Above the Time, Blueming and Strawberry Moon.

I've always been a sucker for dramatics. When people sing or dance or perform and you get wrapped up in their story always sends me! Discovering her surprising way with music along with you is just good fun:) She's a great storyteller!
