You are giving me goosebumps. After months of researching, I think I finally found the field that was one of the first settlements in my area. It had mills, stores and about 60 people living there. On top of that there were a few civil war skirmishes there as well. Making the drive in about an hour to secure permission. One is a hayfield and the other is about to be plowed. I'm so jazzed!!! BTW love your videos, keep on keeping on.

I live in Mountain Home and work in Boise. I picked up metal detecting a couple years ago. I haven't found any coins older than modern coins. It's one of my dreams to find 1800's coins around here, but it's so hard to know where to go. I guess just pick a random place in the desert. I tried looking up old maps on google to find old settlements that don't exist anymore, but I can't find anything other than maps of parcels that are currently on people's private property. If anyone has any suggestions as to where to start, I'd very much appreciate it. I'm willing to put in the work, but I'm striking out trying to find old maps.
