The lowest difficulty of all content is the canon versions, except for ifrit/garuda/titan, which you just resummon with larger piles of crystals. Epic of Alexander was if he actually wanted to kill you, Savage alphascape 4.0 is if Omega was prepared for the WoL and so forth

Actually, all things considered, Brute Justice was the Megazord, then Cruise Chaser combined onto it and Alexander showed up to carry the 6 of them, so it was the FFXIV Ultrazord

I'd say it's more of a multimedia reference. The theme used is definitely a super sentai reference. Their names are Decepticon references, the theme is a super sentai reference (which is where power rangers came from) So I feel it's more accurate to say it's both.

Moments with kids cheering or singing part of the lyrics was also quite the staple of tokusatsu themes in the 70s and 80s. It just adds even more to the beautiful tribute to all of Japan's giant robot media this whole battle is.

@@CronicasDeGisthia you can see at the beginning of the video that Ken Ito was the primary arranger, it's unclear how much Soken's work here aside from original "Metal".

Every time I hear this song, I remember the time I carried a single guy through the raids. We did the whole thing together, and he lost his shit during this part. We purposefully stalled the fight to dance with the robot and his mechanics. I never saw that guy again, but I hope he too remember the time we had as fondly as I do.

I like the way you put upcoming lyrics underneath the current lyrics. I feel like all lyric vids should do that!

See, that's interesting. I personally really don't like it - I find it distracting, I can't stop my eyes from skipping to the next line prematurely, it somehow interrupts the flow for me. I can see how it would be good for karaoke, and I accept that my perspective is probably not typical, but yeah, I find it oddly disconcerting.

I go from fighting a dragon hell-bent on slaughtering all of humanity, to a fucking gurren-lagann megazord. FFXIV really is the rollercoaster that never stops isn't it?

Actually, the are a direct reference to Transformers of all things. The naming scheme perfectly lines up with the Combaticons from the series (I.e Brawl=Brawler, Swindle=Swindler, etc.), decepticons that form the combiner robot, Bruticus. Even the individual robots placement in the combined mode is a direct reference.

The best part is that you can feel the Goblin singing the song just by the lyrics.

I really appreciate these vids, because not only can I listen to the music, actually understand the lyrics, but also I can appreciate the efforts the devs put into the fights, with the transitions and animations that normally I'm too keyed up on anxiety and adrenalin to appreciate when playing the actual fights.

This thing is entirely a reference to bruticus from transformers and i love it

For the longest time, I wasn't even aware that "Brute Justice: Trans-mode" was even in English. It never parsed to me as intelligible, so I just thought the kids were cheering in Japanese, as you do to a Sentai Megazord. It's still not exactly intelligible, but I still feel really dumb.

Great vid, but there are additional 'background lyrics' during four lines which you missed. The lyrics are: "Static tuned in to reason (We're falling back right in with the system) Time in the aether deepens (Who'll see you falling back to the end) Transmissions blink uncompleted (We're falling back right in with the system) Seven two three two three... (Who'll see you falling back to the end)" The background lyrics are sung at the same time as the main lyrics, so I get that it may have been hard to convey that info. Still a great vid!

I've not played FFXIV yet, but I have to ask. Which song gets played first if you play the game straight through? Locus, or Metal (Brute Justice Mode)?

The endsinger is teased continuously starting with Heavensward yes. These raids are all about how sucking the Aether from the planet would doom it. It's not until Endwalker that we find out why.

The song that plays when I try to figure out why my PC can't be turned on.

This is one of my favorite music tracks in the game... The trumpets & horns hit differently the first time you hear them, the base lines slap, the lyrics are fun and wacky. Seriously just an incredibly fun track.

After years I can just say. So glad I went to this fight blind lol

...I'm actually really impressed the eccentric gobbyspeak isn't just the English localizers taking liberties; it's in the lyrics of the song the Japanese players hear, too, meaning it's how the developers of the game intended them to talk from the beginning.

@@trustytrest i mean, consdiering roe naming conventions, it actually makes alot of sense, "haha funny joke aside" because most roe seem to have a adjective and a rock/earth themed 2nd name. e.g. Hoary Boulder.

I cannot believe somebody pitched the idea of steampunk robots with techno-punk themesongs with lyrics entirely in broken gobbo speak.

Brute justice or as i prefer to call it: AGGRESSIVE TRUMPET NOISES

Wouldn’t mind Square releasing a high quality toy version of this irl, would be cool as heck with sounds, lights, and a button that triggers this song to play from it. Plus it would be able to split into all the little bots, just for good measure. Would definitely buy it if it were a thing. Love the Alexander raids so much, got by far the best music in the game.

When the fight started just with the middle unit I was like “nah this can’t be it.” Then the four robots from earlier started showing up and I was like “ah we’re gonna have to fight them all at once, that’s kinda cool”, and then they started levitating and “OH MY GOSH THEY’RE DOIGN A F***IN VOLTRON!!!”

This fight was so much fun.

I never actually raided alexander back in the day, but recently I had to clear my way there to get j-kick and I was amazed by this song. Now that I read the lyrics, it's at least 69 420 times better.

I love how Normal victory scene has the characters facing away from the explosion like a badass out of a movie, but the Savage has them doubled over in sheer exhaustion after how much the whole fight kicked their ass.

Wait. I play this game for 4 years and I'm only now finding out FFXIV has a frickin' ska song? Soken is a musical god lol.

I always feel like there's a bit of a sadness to this fight. Not only does Brute Justice and its theme represent something no doubt the majority of players grew up with, but in anything else, Brute Justice would be the hero. It all gives the feeling that you're fighting a team of anime protagonists taking their last stand and hoping the power of their friendship pulls them through.

**EW SPOILERS** So I may be reaching but I feel there's been some foreshadowing to EW in this song. It all begins with the lyrics "Celestial Noise detected" Not sure what the delirium but means but the rest of it goes: "static turned into reason, time in the aether deepens, Transmissions blink uncompleted, Seven two three two three " It could definitely refer to the morse code heard at the end of crystal tower, upon Nero's scanner thing picking up a transmission as he's walking off, which translated to "It's all wrong" Makes me wonder if there are any subtle hints building up to EW in the other two expansions.

I sincerely doubt they had THAT far ahead planned out that they knew there were going have the Endsinger... But it is definitely something that retroactively does fit in. Also, "Transmissions blink uncompleted" because of the time travel involved, that could also refer to G'Raha trying to contact the Source from the First... It did take him about a hundred years to actually get through to anyone. Now if you wanna go way deep into speculation and crackpot conspiracy land, looking up letter lengths in Morse, 7 2 3 2 3, 7 could be W or K, 3 S or T and 2 can only be I... So one of the possible ones spelled with those would be W I S I T....

@@themindkiller9030 the meteions plan was to stop the universe entropy, interrupting the cycle of death and rebirth (since in ff 14 when you die your soul goes to the planet's "core" and then you born again) it would means that after the death, you will not born again, hence you will stay indefinitely in the aether core of the planet, going "deeper" as the times goes by since you cannot leave (reborn)

@@FrozenSolid90 they dropped massive hints to SB, Elidibus and his link with the Echo in the post-ARR. They dropped hint about ppl being tempered by bahamuth while he was still imprisoned in dalamud at the end of 1.0 and confirmed it during the bozja questline. i wouldn't be surprised if they planned that far head. it's a mmorpg after all, they problably have everything planned for the next 2-3 years. also alexander visited different dimensions and timeline, choosing the one of the WoL as the best possible, probably because alexander knew what was going to happen and we stood a chance
