This is the first time I have heard of this, and I am amazed that native Indonesians (like me) never found out about this instrument :( , they need to bring the metal angklung here in ID. This is just basically a mind blowing hybrid between the original bamboo angklung that we know and love with chimes.

For your information the angklung from Indonesia is called angklung toel

Looks like something u’d see in like the 1800’s an back an they’d have some traveling show. Or it kinda sounds like it’s “the sound” that I would relate to tropical island sounding music….I don’t know…..😂 It’s priddy cool tho!

Yes - Well - This is over 100 years old, so perhaps it was used in those ways.

Over the years I've heard sounds like this... I kind of wonder if it came from this instrument 🤔
Fun fact: a lot of LA bands used this in their recordings including the Doors, Guns and Roses, and NWA
