Metabolism | Fatty Acid Oxidation: Part 1
Official Ninja Nerd Website: ninjanerd.org
Ninja Nerds!
In this lecture Professor Zach Murphy will present on part 1 of this two part series on fatty acid oxidation. During this lecture we discuss the transport of fatty acids within the bloodstream, as well as the activation of fatty acids. We also talk about the translocation of fatty acids from the cytoplasm into the mitochondria via CPT-1, and CPT-2. We hope you enjoy this lecture and be sure to support us below!
We also have a discussion on the 4 stages of beta oxidation:
1. Oxidation
2. Hydration
3. Oxidation
4. Thiolase activity

I literally don't know why I get excited when I listen to you .... I just start walking with the excitement that I have got the core concept that I couldn't get when I listened 100 other videos. I think you are the most underrated man on utube , u deserve atleast 10M or more.... I can't appreciate you with Thankyou only .... U deserve award for all your efforts. I wish you never stop making videos please My Favrt processor in All of my life 🖤🖤🖤 Countless blessings ❤️
Man you are a life saver for real!!! I would've never understood Biochemistry without your videos😭! THANK YOUUU😍
Well done, but there’s a small mistake at the beginning of the lecture. You mentioned that atp is converted to adp in fact it’s converted to amp and the 2 inorganic phosphates and the phosphoanhydride bond is broken by inorganic pyrophosphatase otherwise perfect video

You are a legend thank you so much for helping me through med school... You manage to do more in half an hour than hours of professors or the textbook😁
I adore your knowledge of Biochemistry and enthusiasm. How clean and pleasant an explanation this is! 💕
I know I'm late but honestly saying you're a LIFESAVER !!!! I understood so beautifully 💜
This is the absolute best video on fatty acid oxidation i've ever seen! I feel like I just had an epiphany.
Ninja nerd is a blessing. This channel has helped me so much that a small thank you just won't do justice. I'm so grateful 💫💫
Brother I’m really owe u, u summarized about 2 three-hours lectures in about 30 minutes! u r incredible!!
All the praise here multiplied by 100, and that still wouldn't suffice what an amazing lecture this is.
Reading my book after 30 mins of ur lecture is smooth ... Thanks a lot u are a life saviour
I never paid attention to this while in Medial School. What an AWESOME teacher !! God bless you !!
Nice and concise, I really appreciate what you're doing, particularly for people that cant afford education...but bear in mind, palmitoleic acid is a monounsaturated acid, necessitating more reactions that you drew, but for palmitic acid it is perfectly correct, and the thiol group is what connects the CoA to the acyl group.
I know I am watching this 6 years later, but I just want to say you are a genius. I used to hate biochem, but by watching your videos, I am now omw to become a biochem guru. Thx
I like how we all in comments are amazed and thankful for ur great explanation .. thx ! ❤️
You explain things so well I watched it twice and probably will watch it again.
Great video!!!!! If only my professors were as good at teaching as u are 😂😂
thank you for making everything we much easier and enjoyable.. you are putting a lot of effort ..I appreciate.
I can't even imagine looking at my book for metabolism buhh you're awesome. The legend ninja.
This was the best teaching video I've ever seen, you're a great teacher ! Thank you so much!!
So excited when we finally got to the acetyl CoA. Yaaay. Finally
My exam is in 2 weeks thankssssss you just saved meee and ur lecture notes are rlly so legit!! Keep uppp ur saving billions of medical students
Amazing explanation! Thank you ninja master. I think you flipped the CoA-SH in the opposite direct. I believe it should be Acetyl-S-CoA, so that CoA is bound to acetyl with thioester bond:)
You are a very talented teacher. Love your videos!
It was amazing, thanks for the smooth and understandable explanation
With your videos I don’t have to necessarily memorize but rather, to understand. Thank you so much!
You’re saving my life with your videos
Nice video sir.. but a small correction .... in the first step.... ATP is converted to AMP + PPi... which is converted to Pi by an enzyme inorganic pyrophosphatase ... this makes the first step irreversible!!!

Hey, I just wanted to ask if there are separate carnitine acetyl transferases for different types of fatty acids? Also, when the body breaks down the fat deposits due to the absence of glucose, it is producing a lot of energy. So will the person still feel lethargic and tired due to the absence of food?
You are just a real biochemistry savior, god bless you
Hell yeah, that you very much for this.
