I've been looking to buy one and not sure between piko 4 or meta 3, I usually will use it for playing games. What would u guys suggest ? I knew lense in piko is inferior to quest but how much difference does it make in playing video games? Opinion would be appreciated

@@tahs9nI've never tried a pico 4 before, but I'd recommend a quest 3 because it's pretty powerful but the controllers have trash tracking.

I have both the Quest 3 and the Pico 4. Truthfully, and despite the issues with passthrough and the "better" pancake lenses of the Quest 3, I tend to use the Pico 4 much more often when I can, and I absolutely use it for workouts. The Quest 3's issues with balance and the binocular overlap are very nearly deal-breakers for me. Putting the Quest 3 on my face after using the Pico 4 is like sticking a brick on my face, versus putting on a hat that feels more or less the same at the front and the back. Also, and for some weird reason, I absolutely can NOT use the Quest 3 passthrough or Home functions if the refresh rate isn't at 90hz. That is, unless I want to get dog-sick within 10 minutes and stay that way for at least 2 hours after I take it off. Yes, I had to use the AMVR "halo" enhancement to make the Pico 4 wearable for my face, but on I'm also about to be on my 4th head strap for the Quest 3. The otherwise nice halo strap I just bought for it (replacing the elite strap I bought before--which replaced the included "jock strap" that comes with the Q3) will NOT stay in place, and pancake lenses or no, it does make a difference in the clarity of the headset... to say nothing of the comfort. Sincerely hoping the rumors about Bytedance making an "advanced" version of the Pico 4 are true. If they are, I'll be one of the first in line to buy it!

have just piqued my interest as well the pico 4S apparently with the screenshots of it benchmarking against the quest 3 show the exact same specs as the chipset in the quest 3 along with a 12 gigabyte ram increase which is just gonna be huge for multitaskng and higher textures, and possibly i'm guessing the pass through is gonna match the quest 3's pass through as well 'cause just why not. so i feel like me being having to import the quest 3 anyway and pay a premium being Australian i might as well just get the "cheaper" pico 4s and not be tied into meta's ecosystem and have them potentially shut my device down because i do tend to use rookie side loader for pirated games just because everything is so overpriced on the meta quest store. Do you kjow i Rookie side loader will work with the pico systems as well i'm assuming it would it just means that i don't have to go through the meta store to play those games, and would that mean that the pirated cracked versions of meta exclusives should work on the picos too because you don't have to go through that meta store ecosystem? bu system/os wise theyre pracically the same right? reddit hasnt been of much help so far unfotunately

Also, don't forget to add 50-150$ for a decent 'strap' too, you need to buy for the Q3 also, else with the cheap Meta-'Strap' and the bad balancing you get headache fast.

Loved the non-biased review. As a Pico and Quest user, I love both... I mainly use my Pico 4 for PCVR while my Quest for standalone... since i play longer sessions on PCVR, the PICO surpasses it. WHile for standalone short fun games, the Quest and Meta's game library surpasses the Pico.

I just watched this using the Spatial TV app om my Quest 3. I don't have an issue with its weight as such but I get pressure on my face after a while. The headstrap is by a company that I can't recall but it is much better than the original. For the last couple of months I have been stuck in a house 50km from home and the Q3 is more or less my only source of entertainment and internet connection. It and the sofa are in constant use... All things considered I'm not complaining. I haven't encountered the bugs you have. But if anything happens to it I will revisit this excellent informative video!

Great review!! Can you tell us more about your mod on the Pico4?

It's crazy how comfortable the quest 3 with the stock headband was for me. I got the kiwi battery one today, and dare I say, I prefer the fabric factory one??? I used it for HOURS and felt absolutely no discomfort.

Took me awhile to like the quest 3 really didn’t feel like much of an upgrade ton of bugs like you said but I’ve noticed the more I play the quest 3 the better it’s getting like I’m just not finding as many issues anymore and starting to play with the extra features like the mixed reality, I’ve noticed in population one in particular I can see much further now and things are clearer and it runs smoother than on quest 2

AMVR facial interface and an elite style strap will probably help a lot comfort wise. People seem to love the BOBOVR S3 if you have the money.

Yea, add 50-150$ for it to the 200$ the Q3 is more expensive then. It's a shame that Meta still comes with such headache-straps and bad balancing in 2024. The Q3 is all in all very disapointing, they could made it easily better but did not. Too bad that Pico/Bytedance has such stupid managers, not continuing with a P5.

I want a VR headset, buti don't know which one to choose. I mostly play PC games but they are also playableon VR and i've seen some really cool VR games like bonelabs, which one should i save up for?

ive just ordered the pico 4 and saw an offer for the quest 3 after that. I could get it for a little less then the pico, but after watching this video I will not cancel my order to get the quest 3 :D

I plan on doing work with them, using them as a secondary monitor. Is that a good idea? How clear are texts? Would I be fine with Quest 2? Or should I just go with Quest 3 for the clarity?

Controversial opinion to have and question to ask, but do you know if the rookie side loader will work with the Pico 4 when installing sofware/games that the Quest 3 can play? Reddit is not helpful at all when it comes to pirating on the Pico 4. Assuming most of its user base is foreign, and t english threads suck. I currently have the Quest 3 and use Rookie sideloader (super safe piracy sideloader app) fairly frequently, alongside Quest Games Optimizer and NordVPN apk sideloaded. I'll still buy games that I feel are actually genuinely worth it and not just tech demos so I can still support those developers and support that platform. But in saying this, I am considering getting the Pico 4S or Pico 5 when they come out, seeing as tey seem to be cheaper and better slightly than metas products. The leaked ram increase on Pico 4s and it using the exact same chipset now as Quest 3, and not being tied to Meta is way more attractive than Meta's platform imo, and all you points in favor of the Pico. Obviously because we have all the Facebook crap asssociated with it too and the potential for them to completely brick my entire headset when they do decide that their platform/ecosystem is big enough for them to finally crack down on pirated games and software thing they can see absolutely everything you have installed on your device. I'm assuming they just don't crack down on it (honestly its the easiest platform to pirate on and even easier than PC and safer) because they just want as many people as possible in this ecosystem, and data hording. your review has peaked my interest more than I thought it would.

@@Roos-Reviews me too!!!i also have a very cheap chinese projector in my room, but it's not dlp, so i use vr for 3d movies!!! (i also had two 3d tvs , but i gifted them to my old parents, because i find active shutter glasses very inconvenient!!!)

you forgot to mention how you literally can see the pixels with naked eyes on the quest 3. will be a total waste to watch a mega blockbuster movie on the quest 3, for shows is acceptable but definitely not for movies. for this reason I have returned them

Well if you give a little more effort to update a few things on the Quest3 you'll find that the Quest 3 is by far superior. I have both headsets and like them both, but the Quest3 is my favorite. Seems that what you describe with your Quest are some issues, I can't relate to. Today I got update 65 and it was just another improvement. I improved my headset with a halo-like headstrap and built in battery, which I bought for 20$ on Aliexpress. Facemaskd from AMVR and also knucklestraps from the same company. I have the 512 gb version and it is always hooked to the charger via the headstrap. That means it always is ready to use and updates come automatically. I use the Quest in one room and I never need to redraw it, no matter where I use it.

Yeah my experience has just been different to yours I guess. The Pico is super reliable and comfortable for me, but the Quest 3 has better visuals. I'm not into games, so comfort, reliability and visuals are the only things that really matter to me. I think the quest updates come too often and bring too many bugs. On the Pico, updates come seldom and the current firmware has been extremely stable for me. The Quest has been awful for stability. Right now I'm trying to watch a film but having problems getting sound to come out my Airpods Pro 2. I have to restart the headset to solve it. Every day I have problems with the headset that require a restart or multiple restarts.

Pass-through dropping to 3fps and becoming severely distorted when offline is unlikely to be a feature that was designed intentionally. What purpose could that serve? If it's not a feature, it's a bug.

I think the Pico's improved binocular overlap really helps immersion too. I just got home with my third Quest 3 after two returns. Hopefully this one will have fewer issues.
