On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

GS, since you love making Me262 video's make one with the Me263, Bf109 and Fw190. Then leave the Me262 in the hanger. Then you could fly the Bf109 against the Fw190. Then the Fw190 vs. Bf109 and tell us which is easier to get kills with.😃👍
GS wasn't shot down by a P38 ... he was shot down by his own hubris.

just climb away and everything will be fine
@M4xPower

The aircraft's best climb speed is near its top speed. Jets gain 'horsepower' as their airspeed increases. Nothing can climb fast with the 262, but steep climbs are a no no. At around 500 km/h and above, the 262 ought to have a climb rate advantage, and that advantage should get higher and higher as the chase becomes faster. The 262 will still have a major percentage of its climb rate above the P-38's top speed, at which the P-38 can't climb at all (while maintaining it speed by definition). I think escaping this situation could have played out like 1. Get out of guns range. 2. Achieve around 600 km/h TAS 3. climb at an attitude gains or maintains airspeed.

You cant throttle the me262 engines up or down rapidly, you have to go up really slowly otherwise the engines will overheat and catch fire, and go down slowly otherwise you will have a flameout, the throttle also cant go under about 20-30% while in flight otherwise you will flameout, in the 262 you pretty much stay between 80-100% throttle the entire time until landing, normally when I land I take about 30 seconds to go from 90% throttle to 40%

@@2bidfilmsguyI will have to take your word about the me262, but the p38 is another story, it performs very well with the differential thrust . Anyway, I think this kan be a very good match up, and I think others would like to see it happen.

Love the WW2 videos just as much as the modern videos really appreciate the mix-up every now and then. Keep kicking ass GS, we see you out here hustlin'.
Your sheer joyful bloodlust is what makes this as entertaining as it is
One of the biggest problems for the ME262 aside from being bounced in the landing pattern, was sheer weight of numbers fielded by the allies. They would dive in and blast some allied aircraft but then be swarmed by a ratio of as high as 15-1 by Mustangs and other air defense fighters while they were trying to engage an enemy. Even with its speed it struggled to survive against such heavy opposition flown by very experienced pilots.
@dillonpeterson66

Im sick of this. The 262 struggled to fight anything it and it faced skilled pilots, but instead of praising allied pilot's for their skill, people like you resort to this pathetic hero worship of their murders.

Gorgeous rendering. Anyone else notice how close he was to the end of that runway?
@debbiestimac5175
Жыл бұрын
Yes! He nearly bought the farm so to speak. People don't realize how slow those old turbojets were to make power for take-off. It's why our runways were massively long for the USAF in those early years. The thrust levels were pitiful and you could not just firewall the throttle, you had to ease it in over 30 seconds or so, watching EGTs like a hawk.
Best thing about a 262 is the cannons no contest. The speed is nice, but the 4 30mm are essentially a delete button when they hit. Really ahead of the curve in fighter design with providing an overpowered canon for dogfights
Brutal and a pleasure to watch. The 262 is fast but it is a bad climber as far as I know, the P-38 on the other hand is a pretty good climber. Might have been better to extend maybe in a shallow dive and get speed to simply fly away instead of trying to outclimb the P-38.
Episodes in 262 are one of your greatest series continues to do it pure pleasure to watch
I don't know if it's available in DCS yet, but it would be cool to see the Me-262 against the Gloster Meteor. From what I've heard, the Meteor was predicted to be a counter to the 262, but they never fought each other (as far as we know).
@IrishCarney
Жыл бұрын
@@DefinitelyNotEmma It wasn't that they feared the 262 so much they were protecting the Meteor from a superior aircraft. They were keeping the Meteor's tech from falling into enemy hands if shot down. So they were forbidden to fly over German-held territory (or even Soviet-held territory, by the way). The British were actually hoping to bait 262s into combat against Meteors -- over Allied-held territory.
Great video! Your gunnery has gotten very sharp, which it needs to be to score hits with those closure rates. Make as many of these as you want and I will watch them all.
dude im on 109 dcs vr learning basics (startup landings etc - and im nailing it tbh) but your ballistics on the 262 with that rudder kill fishing that p40 out of the sky likie a shark reminds me of how beautifull it is what we do and go countless hours through to perfect our skill in
This is what happened IRL to the Luftwaffe, their pilots shot down several planes but there was dozens more and their pilots were grinded down through sheer attrition
That pilot burning was brutal.
I love GS's excitement describing the 262- all of which played out in the game! Thank you for posting this!
hey man just wanted to let u know that i love these videos where its not just the typical dogfights with one plane vs another, I loved the p 38 one
I imagine that the best Luftwaffe pilots had this experience. Takeoff, intercept, shoot-scoot, kill, climb, dive, shoot-scoot, kill, climb, etc. Day after day after day until your luck ran out and you died, or were shot down.
I saw a ME262 replicant flying from Paine Field in Everett Washington years ago. I was on break at the Boeing plant. It was an amazing sight to see.
Trying to steeply out-climb a P-38 that is already within gun range has killed me so many times I can't even count that high. They can prop hang like a boss.
Loving these! Thanks for the IL-2 love - and the WWII content - soaking this up!!
They have a real Me262 in the NAS Pensacola Aviation Museum and it's so interesting to check it out in detail and see the differences between the German engineering and the US Naval planes of the same era. It is very obviously a different philosophy. Thankfully this marvel of engineering came too little too late, if they had it earlier and it had the opportunity to make a bigger impact, the Allies would have been in trouble!
That first kill holy shit
Hell of a shoot on that mosquito in the beginning.👍 And indeed the schwalbe schreads everything. Question: Have you considered trying out the me 410? From what I hear it is an enjoyable plane to fly.

Nein nein, nein!!! Me-262 ist ein Blitzbomber!!!! Zis is what I wanted for "Entsieg" (Duck-win)!
It is very dangerous to maneuver sharply on the Me 262, speed is quickly lost, and then you are an easy target. The correct tactic is to keep speed all the time, speed allows you to be invulnerable and quickly repeat the attack despite the distance, work smoothly, and only at the moment of attack allow you to change your movement dramatically, but do not delay the maneuver, otherwise the loss of speed and you are probably dead.
awesome reflections in the gauges! this alone brings a lot of realism
Very much looking forwards to more Me262 content - loved the first two as well!
You coming back to the base, your flight commander yelling: "You just lost a plane worth a fortune. It costs thousands of Reichmarks."
I just want more Il-2 (because history and world wars are my jam) and I appreciate you making more thank you GS! :)
I spent more than 6,000 hours in the Il-2, and my favorite aircraft is the Me 262, then the La-5 fn and La-7, then the Focke Wulf 190 and some Messerschmitt Bf 109 models.
At this point the video has barely started and I dropped a like. Just know it's always quality stuff :) Love your love of it :)
That was hilarious seeing Karma get her payment from you with that flaming engine at the end! Great video and lesson for everyone. Keep up the great work.
Attempt 5! Could you please show us ground strafes with different weapon setups from ground perspective? We all know how A10 Brrrt sounds from the ground and looks on target, some even know that for Viper's 20mm, but I really wonder how a 37 mm, 6 x 50 cal., 23 mm MiG-21 and 30 mm MiG-29 long strafes would look and sound on target! Also, could you please bring out the flying lol machine I-16 against the F-22?
Would definitely love to see more Second World War action from the channel. Indeed more First World War as well. Also, it’d be cool if IL-2 introduced the DH Vampire, the P-80 and the Mig-9 for a hypothetical 1946 scenario to go up against the Me-262 etc, just for shits and giggles.
@hunormagyar1843
10 ай бұрын
You can do some of that in the good ol' very Il-2 1946. Prolly not Vampire and Meteor but idk there's def 262s, a YP-80 and a Mig-9 and some other early rocket n jet aircraft. You can't do it in this newer Great Battles series tho, so you'll have to suffice with a tad worse graphics... at least you can run it on a literal calculator.
