It’s typical of those who think they’re too intelligent to give credibility to the truth of the Bible, and they refer to their bias as “ science “.

I don't think we should be talking about a consensus. Otherwise - the stele is well worth reading in full, as it offers numerous and rare insights into the era from a non-Israelite point of view.

I have my own suspicions but, I'm wondering WHY they don't want the inscription to read "David"?

Next to Christ, David is the second person in Scripture re the amount of text recording their life. A great deal of David's life and writings prophetically point to Christ and the New Covenant.

It was broken by greedy, ignorant natives. Archeologists actually rescued the fragments.

The archeologist didn't break it. The bedouins broke it because there wasn't one owner they all wanted a piece to sell.
