Mesh or Routers ? | Comparison with Xiaomi 🌐

Ғылым және технология

Mesh or Routers? With Xiaomi, today we find out. Many people sit with poor internet due to settling on what their ISP decided to install at their house. It's essential to understand Mesh and routers when comparing what you need. Xiaomi has asked me to make this easy so that you can make your own decision based on self-education.

Very happy you covered handoff as its really the readon mesh costs a lot. Ehat I need to find out is if xiaomis mesh can run and lan and failover to wifi when the signal drops, some i believe will even optimize ie using 3 nodes, you run 3 cables and triangulate them, topically a bad idea, then configure the wifi in the same way and it will allways use the best path. 2 more things that couldve been there, sometimes you get a router with your ISP and its fine for that and you then upgrade past its ability (or a free upgrade we get a lot of here in SA 😂) the other thing to consider is that your ONT is only Gb and there is no option in anyway to get better, you cannot do the double up trick there. With VUMA dynamic IP, not sure what their internal limits would be but everyone else is 2.5Gb GPON, and any better ONT would likely be much more pricey as the would need to deficate a whole GPON. Likely why 2.5Gb ports on motherboards are common an not the expected 10Gb

Elo :) So yes you can use backhaul but Xiaomi does not officially support it (last I checked). But yea, our ONTs are technically sub par , but even overseas speeds higher than a gig are rare. Mobos etc will have 2.5 up to 10 because of the home network infrastructure. We as a country are very far behind the technical application of home networks. I run a 10g home network because of my NAS and constant data transmission but my nodes are ax3000 so a bottleneck will always exist if trying to utilise the bandwidth in that way (non internet) Thanks for the good comment :)

Hey there, my internet provider will stop providing me internet trough vdsl cable but trough fiber network. But now they say i have to change my router/modem to one capable with fiber. They sell one for 110$ but ive found many others for the half of the price such as xiaomi ax3000t and such. Will he do the job? Does it have gigabit wan port?

What I dont understand is the following: If i buy a mesh system for my house with 3 floors, does it create its own seperate network and then mesh with every unit I add or can it blend in with the original network as already broadcasted by my isps routers? Cause if its the first then I guess id buy 1 more mesh unit, and have the isp modem/router be only a modem cause i dont want 2 seperate wifi networks active.

Hey Mesh will always be one network, it's the whole idea behind mesh. But you can't blend into incompatible devices. Generally crossing brands never works. I use primary node from ont because ax3000 has a router in and then extend from there

Heya. Huawei will only mesh with itself. So you would need a device or 2 to create a mesh network

how many devices can connect to Xiaomi 4C. I need to connect 100 mobile phones, with very small data packets ~8KB every 10 seconds per device Thanks..

Hey sorry for delay I would not recommend it. This is very entry level. That many concurrent connections will be a recipe for disaster. You would want something like a ubiquity AP to ensure no disconnects
