Love the Breitling Milanese and or Staib.

I have 2 Staibs and they are really top quality, completely different then the average mesh bracelets.

I have a vintage Juvenia mesh strap that is so fine , detailed and comfortable. It's just great, only costed me 35 euro on a watch market. The clasp they used was also very ingenious and had a patented locking system

Thanks Tim! I have a cheapish mesh bracelet from Strapcode on my 1970 skin diver. The bracelet functions fine and is super comfortable, partly due to its taper. Not sure if tapered is an option to you, but I quite like mine. Thanks again!

Good vid. I purchased something called a "shark mesh" bracelet for my Vostok Shark Dude. The links are larger and there are no end links, per se. The spring bar goes through the last set of links in the bracelet. Your comments on a comparison between fine mesh and shark mesh would be sehr interresant. Good vid. Keep at it!

The thing that worries me about shark mesh with no end bars is that the case will be constantly scratched, yes?

Tim - Definitely a damn cool logo! Love that Cobra. You should make some decals like the 1970s hot rod stickers. You could give them away with a purchase from the store.

Not sure I like mesh.. but I’m pretty sure I would not be putting a $5000 watch on a $15 mesh bracelet. It’s asking for trouble. Good luck on your negotiations.

Germany certainly has more than "one or two" manufacturers of Milanese bracelets. In addition to Staib, there is Jürgen's, Heidecker, Eulit, Vollmer, Meyhofer, Eichmueller and probably others. Some seem to be producing cheap mesh bracelets, probably in Asia, but there are still several models made in Germany.

He said one or two in Germany are producing "top notch" bracelets. Vollmer etc are fine, but they're not top of the line.

Tim- I have that Lorier watch and the bracelet is far and away one of the most comfy bracelets of any watch I own. I do agree the clasp could use work. If you want a janky bracelet- the Vostok bracelets are the absolute pits. (Though I do love the watch itself) -From a fellow Tim

I have a few Loriers. I find the bracelets really comfortable too; but I do agree that the quality - whilst far from poor - isn't great. That said, they make great daily wearers, even if after a few years of a 'couple of days per week' type wear they develop a little jingle-jangle. I sorta like it though. The marketing material talks about wanting to replicate the buying experience of a 60's watch (as you know) and they certainly nailed that with the bracelet!! 😁

Fun video. I hope there will be part 2 on how do they look on the watch how to put them on the watch with out scratching them. Maybe it would be great add in your version to have quick release springbars in them

That more expensive one looks very similar to the mesh bracelet on my old Longines Legend Diver. The clasp looks almost identical with the only difference I see being the use of more micro adjustment holes on this one to compensate for the lack of removable links (which the Longines bracelet has).

Love a mesh, got a Staib on my SM300 & a watchgecko one on a Ploprof homage. The Staib is noticeably better, tho the Geckota one is decent. Cheers 👍🏻👍🏻

Great stuff CBTim. Despite the current volume of watch related media, info on quality straps and bracelets - bracelets particularly - is sorely lacking. As we all know (you more than most due to your strap business) the comfort *and* aesthetics of what keeps a wristwatch attached to our wrist is often *the* factor that keeps us reaching for the same timepiece day after day despite our litany of other options. Re. the Lorier bracelets: it's their imperfection that endears them to me. Much like the Sea-Gull ST19 mov't (a favourite of mine). The imperfections and connection to a time preceding the tiniest fractions of a millimetre tolerances we (rightly) expect in a modern watch. That is what I like about them most and I appreciate the craftsmanship of my more precisely constructed and/or finished watches because of the minor imperfections of the Loriers and ST19 powered watches in my collection. Serendipity-I'm looking at mesh bracelets for summer but the clasps just don't give me confidence. Perhaps I should wait for the Caseback Watches mesh, if it has a milled clasp & not as chunky?

I have 2 by Staib (a different model) and they are excellent. I did buy a cheap Chinese one and tossed it immediately. Perhaps you could have added a "shark mesh" bracelet to your review?

Mercedes or bust!! It completely changes the watch’s personality. Medium thickness is more versatile than the one you showed, but as an owner of both, I’ll attest that you’ll be happy either way. You’ll probably want to start with a good supply of 20mm & 22mm.

I love the more expensive bracelet! How adjustable is it? I'm always worried these things will be too large for my wrist

The Longines Mesh on the Diver is also amazing at a whopping $800 bucks.

Do the high quality ones pull hair?

Longines definately purchased the bracelets for the Legend Diver from the German firm that produced the 3rd bracelet. It is almost identical apart from a few characteristics.

I have a couple of cheap mesh staps with that same type of fastener, yes they do open easily but I haven't had one open on its own. They all looked good but I couldn't see myself paying 230 for one, to me that type of fastener doesn't work on a mesh, there is a big rigid piece amongst all of the flexibility.

Staib seem to be split into Staib Germany and SOC Staib Asia. The Asian mesh bands are a fraction of the price of the German part of the company. Soc Staib Asia must be the cheaper Staib you reviewed. Interesting Video.

The nicest mesh is the one you can pair with Squale.

I like mesh bracelets, but the clasps always seem so cheap.

I bought a pressed endlink mesh from Vostock, reccomended by a fave youtuber, it failed immediatly, the weak point is the grip on the mesh where the lug link is, bought a £25 one iff Aliexpress and it's fine.

It seems Staib has a site for the Asian market - SOC Staib Asia, and they make mesh bracelets for about 30-60 euros. I'd like to try out one of those to test the quality without spending a lot of money.

This is a worthwhile topic. I think you missed one vital point and that is the conformability of the mesh, ie how well does it follow the form of the wrist. Most cannot........

Are there staib bracelets for 17mm lug width?

He didn't put the mesh bracelet on the watch!? Ooh, c'mon, man! Show us the goods! Now, I have no idea how this watch looks on that nice mesh bracelet! What was the point of such video?

How do you adjust the length of that high end Staib?

Have another look at the clasp. The flimsy metal of the tooth on the cheaper clasp will bend and no longer secure the clasp shut. The watch will then fall off your wrist.

Watch from 7:05 It is obvious that this Milanese bracelet (~ 20 mm wide) can only be fitted to this Rolex (spring-bar is just ~ 10 mm wide) if ~ 5 mm square is cropped from each corner of the Milanese band. A capable jewellery repair person should be able to do this. Gut Glück 👍

That top bracelet needs on the fly microadjusts, then it would be perfect. One advantage of the mesh style bracelet is the infinite adjustment, you lose that with the clasp.

I wouldn’t put a 5k watch on a 15$ band conversely I wouldn’t put a 200$ watch on a 250$ band

The problem with the high end bracelet is the lack of on the fly adjustability.

As usual. €15 direct from China vs €35 ‘made in China’ from a western brand is almost the same. You gotta spend much more if you want a true higher quality western product At least as far as metal bracelets go!

Let's be fair, in this case not almost the same. As pointed out in the video, the mesh texture itself is very different. Curvy and loose against straight and even.

No taper is a deal breaker for me. I prefer OMEGA mesh for $800 or Tissot Mesh for under $150.

Mesh is ok, for a change., but not for long term. They are a too greasy. Meaning- Miami immigrant restauranteur.

I want a Staib, but they don't make 21mm.
