#splashintoadvent2024 will take place from June 29th through August 24th that way we can announce winners on the August 31st podcast. The knit along will be hosted on Instagram using the hashtag #splashintoadvent2024. The idea is that you are knitting an advent related pattern or using yarn from an advent. Clearing those advent WIPs off of your needles so that you can make room for advent knitting later this year. New cast ons or WIPs are allowed. We will be hosting a virtual make along night on August 6th at 7pm central. We will announce the winners on our August 31st podcast and on our Instagram page. Again use the #splashintoadvent2024 and tag us on Instagram using @knittingupnorthwithjenncorrina - @jennlovesyarn - @corrinaiscrafty

Ladies, once again, nailed it!!! Jeanie at Fiber Genie has been so kind! I’ve placed two hauls from her. 🤩 Jenn, I believe you and I are thinking of the same Advent, releases tomorrow. 🥳 Corrina and Jenn, your friendship is so great. In life we need what you two have. It’s already hard and our husbands take on so much already with the businesses and sometimes don’t understand. They try but only a true girlfriend does… Hope the nachos and were on point. 💕

Loving these episodes, ladies!! Wanted to pop on here and say (just so there’s no “disappointment” at what you’re getting) - the Freckled Whimsy advent sock skeins don’t have the hidden colors and aren’t in a hidden, separate bag. They also aren’t separated by a main color (unless she’s doing it a different way this year). I’ve gotten them the last 3 yrs (ordered again this yr - this will be the 4th yr) and the colors are all in full view from the beginning and, at least for me, I’ve found that I need to knit 2 colored stripes a day to get the full socks done by Christmas (there is usually a twice over repeat of all the colors for me). As far as I’m aware, Woolens and Nosh is the only one that does the hidden stripe/bag/separated by a main color advent sock set. Freckled Whimsy’s is always gorgeous and fun though! I have no doubt you will enjoy them! 😊

I also have Ambah O’Brien’s Radvent on the needles using matching sets of 10 minis. I needed mine to be symmetrical or my brain might have exploded. I also have my Woolens & Nosh sock skeins from 2023. This is a great incentive to finish up some of my untouched advent boxes. At some point I will make a Sweet Shop blanket as well. Just not this summer.

And I’m looking forward to seeing your progress on your Advent projects 🎄 I was wondering if you have ever thought about using Telegram or Discord for your podcast KALs? You could set up threads for general chitchat and you could also set up threads for whatever KALs/MALs you wanted to run and then you and your participants wouldn’t have to worry about Instagram algorithms or having to make sure (remember) to tag you. Love you girls! I love watching you girls. You always have unique patterns and the bags they’re just beautiful of course I’m partial to pink too and purple or lilac. Love watching you guys. You’re just awesome like a breath of fresh air.❤ I have a silly question as a new beginner knitter. What is the advent knitting? Is this where you purchase a bunch of yarns from what I gather I don’t know.

Grounding, positive friends are so precious. 🥰 Thanks for sharing that with us. Another great podcast and yay for picture insert success haha. I loved both of your socks. I think self-striping yarn might be becoming my new thing. Now to actually knit them. I am almost finished one sleeve of my Milton Cardi. It’s a bit of a slog and what do I do? Instead of knitting more and getting it done, I am going slower and dragging it out. NM I will get there soon. Thanks again. 🧡 Christine, Australia 🧡

It's so hard when you have a slog on the needles...switch it up with something else or just put it in timeout for a bit!

@@KnittingUpNorthwithJennCorrina I’ve been thinking about it. My OCD brain doesn’t want to do that till I’ve finished but I have a little cardi pattern I want to make for my granddaughter which would be the perfect distraction. So maybe I’ll do that. Thanks for the encouragement girls.

You talk about having a lot of sock needles. Do you buy them individually or in a set. Learning so much with your very informative podcasts. Love them and thank you.

Thank you so much for the kind words! Great question! ChiaoGoo 32" for magic loop size 1 or 1.5 for fingering weight and size 3 for DK. We buy them individually Angie at The Yarn Cabin, of course!

Hi, Ladies! Cortina, you might consider having a blood test since you said you are cold all the time. You might see if you are anemic or if your thyroid is off. I'm a retired nurse who's had both those problems. Either can make you feel cold.

Another viewer suggested the use of Discord so we are looking into that as an option too. We will keep you posted!

Thank you for the kind words! Advent knitting means a lot of different things to a lot of different people...LOL! Typically it is where you purchase an advent calendar in yarn form. It's a bunch of minis that are numbered and the intent is to knit on them daily as you open. Some people don't purchase yarn advents and make their own out of scraps or yarn from left over projects. Some people package up their own advent and swap with someone else. It can be done in a variety of different ways. Hope that helps!
