Merry Christmas from East Crompton St. James
Музыка
Merry Christmas everyone, hope your day was as fantastic as mine.
Apologies for the focus for the first few carols, It gets 100% better at 5:57.
This video is of the octave at my home tower, East Crompton, Lancashire. The bells were down, but the ropes were secured round the clappers with string, so that when pulled, you have control over the clapper striking the bell, as opposed to the bell itself.
You'll notice that some of the notes in the carols are not "right", this is because we only have eight notes to ring them with, so some of the notes are right, but either an octave higher or lower.
I'd be interested to hear feedback from other ringers in the comments section as to how many towers actually do this? As far as I was aware, it was just a northern thing? Are there any southerners that do this also?
Again, Merry Christmas, hope you enjoy! :)
Bodger.

Been a while since I rang there with your group. Not since I moved to Salford. Nice hearing them again. They still sound lovely.
Not come across this anywhere else, Rob. What a nice little 8 these are. Must come and grab them sometime!
That was fun :^)
Bodge, did you have nothing better to do, pal?! ;-)
We did this at Brading on Christmas Eve, but I didn't get a video :(
How is this set up?
Did you use the same method as they did at Liverpool Cathedral for the Imagine piece?
