    I’ve felt the same way. While I admit I have only watched CW’s highlights, at least half of those plays would not be successful in the NFL. He just throws the ball up for grabs ALOT and a bunch of those would be picks in the NFL. Also, all his dancing around in the pocket is not going to happen in the NFL. Finally, people complain about Justin fumbling…CW is going to have a bunch of fumbles the way he holds the ball out there like a loaf of bread.

    I met Walter Payton in 1985 after they won the Super Bowl, outside United audio in Highland Park, he had his black Lamborghini out front, and he was just walking out with his brother Eddie, and I was walking right in and I was so shellshocked, I was so Paralyzed I couldn’t even say hello or speak… He was my idol, he was the reason I listened to football in the first place, because when I started watching him it was three times hand it off to Walter.. and punt, hopefully not this time but that was it until the 80s and the Bears started getting better and better but it took a long time to build that 85 Bears team, more like 10 years. And I see Meryl Hodges so excited to meet a player that made him feel like a little kid, but when I met him he was huge, he’s smaller than Hodge but it didnt seem like it after seeing him with guns out.. I don’t believe Merrill looked bigger when Walter was at his peak… He was physically taller and heavier but he wasn’t built like Walter.👍🏼, but most people didn’t see him without his long sleeves, they only saw him in his uniform, long sleeves and that’s it… They never saw him in a tank top ripped to shreds like Superman, I mean he might’ve been about 210 when I saw him because he was huge in my eyes… Not so tall but physically built like a Superman, it was ridiculous. I never felt that way until I met Sammy Sosa maybe 10 years later he was about the same size… A little taller and a little bigger. But Walter was ripped and so much bigger than expected because like I said you never see him in anything but long sleeve shirts and football jerseys. By the way, great to have him here, keep talking to us about his opinion on Caleb Williams because it’s the right opinion

    Merell Hodge is absolutely correct 💯. Justin Fields wants to be a Bears. Keep Justin Fields in Chicago. I have watched Justin Fields give the Bears his all. Even when the Bears were losing Justin Fields never quit on my Bears. Allegedly Caleb Williams doesn't want to be a Bear. In oder to get his foot into the NFL door Caleb Williams is going to say whatever he has to say in those interviews. There are a lot of alleged rumors of Caleb Williams saying he doesn't want to be a Bear. What if the Bears draft him and he gets to Chicago and starts crying and mucks the Bears over. Caleb Williams got to Oklahoma and hit the transfer portal after like 1 year or so. If Chicago trades Justin Fields and drafts Caleb Williams number 1 overall and Caleb Williams doesn't want to be a Bear. This would be devastating; the Bears will be screwed. The same media that is talking about how great Caleb Williams is is going to attack the Bear's front office. Warren, Poles, Cunningham and all of Chicago's coachs are going to get fired. Remember how the media said Fields needed wide receiver help so Poles tried to help by trading for Claypool and Claypool laid down on the Bears. The same media that praised Poles for getting Claypool turned on Poles and called for his firing.. Williams and his father allegedly have all of these foolish ideas that will cause volatility in the Bear's locker room. Justin Fields is loyal and wants to be a Bear. The Bears need to reward Justin Fields' hard work by signing him long-term.

    Hoge is correct. Williams is not special. Special players don’t go 9 tds with 4 int’s the final 7 games. These were the only games he played even reasonably decent defenses. He is bad against pressure and his pocket awareness is poor. He takes far too long to make decisions and that’s a killer at the next level. The NFL has teams which are far closer in ability and everyone is fast. Unless Caleb buckles down and works hard, he won’t last. If he’s humble and serious, he can be good. As of now, I wouldn’t take him over a couple of other guys, but he’s fun to watch!

    So, Merril said Caleb was "disturbingly" inaccurate outside of the pocket? I’ve watched all of his games and that is where he is at his best. The guy had 93 total TD’s to only 13 int. Then he says the kid doesn’t have any arm talent, WHAT?! That is a strength of his Merril. Lol He then says he has to learn how to play in a dirty pocket to succeed. Did he not watch the Bears? He thinks Justin succeeds in dirty pockets? He said you gotta process things and be consistent. Did he hear what Green Bay players said about him? "Keep him in the pocket and make him play QB”. Hoge thinks Justin processes well and is consistent? And I’m a Justin fan. Let’s be real here. He then says Caleb had a lot of clean pockets.😂😂😂. It was worse than Justin’s O-line for the Bears! He says it was unfair to Justin’s development with the moving chairs OC’s. That’s true, but why Caleb has to suck according to him?

    You heard what you wanted to hear there. He didn't say he didn't have arm talent, he just said it wasn't elite, as in would be in the top tier of starting NFL QBs. Also I think his point against drafting CW, which also answers your other points, is when he said teams win championships, not QBs...so trading down and strengthening the team is the path to winning.

  • @I.apologist

    @I.apologist

    @@zp4200 He said the arm talent wasn’t anything special. His arm is most definitely top-tier NFL arm talent, even right now. Umm, so he is still inaccurate. He would be the only scout out is 9 others that would come to that conclusion. His point wasn’t that a QB doesn't win championships, it was that he in particular wasn’t good enough to move on from JF. And why would he think Caleb will be a "solo” act? He is going to need some level of development as a rookie anyway you slice it. Just like Justin has for years. His criticisms were so far off base it’s ridiculous. He literally named his strengths as his weaknesses and reasons he didn’t like him. You can tell he really didn't watch many games of Caleb. And for what it's worth, in a JF supporter. Of course, teams win championships, but QBs lead them. Yes, even Purdy is leading the 49ers. Neither team in the SB would be there likewise without their QBs.

It's like he' thinks he's talking about a different player. What's going to happen they going to trade Fields and he's going to figure it out with a better organization. Then Caleb's camp and just his attitude is not good for what they trying to build. And it’s not just his ridiculous runs, he’s made some great plays with his arm, things that most quarterbacks can’t do except maybe for a handful in the NFL… And the guys that got better around him because they were in a great situation, they aren’t more talented than Justin, they had a better situation and how it turned out for at least four or five of these guys. Players can change, players can improve, it takes time and the right situation. The situation around is just getting better and we need to keep improving it, that’s the right way to do this

    This is such a funny and dumb take. I love JF. But just look at the trade market value of JF: next to none… and it wasn’t that low just because everyone knew that the bears would take Caleb (which is also evidence that they should take Caleb: every other team knew and agreed that they would/should take Caleb). JF’s 4th quarter stats were atrocious in games that were within a score. Also, it’s true that the bears failed fields but to say so confidently that “they don’t know what they have” is just a silly point. They knew exactly what they had. And that’s why it was even a close call. JF can take a team to the playoffs but he wasn’t the right choice for the bears. In fact, knowing the bears history, I’m shocked they didn’t take that easy way out.
