I agree, Rev is excellent at explaining patiently and thoroughly.....but it seems like events are more effort with minimal rewards....and it should be a better bridge between scopely marketing and their player creators..... That actually bridges the disconnect between the players frustration and marketable practices

They should use the starbase as a currency exchange point much like an airport here on earth have the higher your starbase is leveled. Be a better exchange rate, trade-in old stuff to new stuff.

So my main take away is - even if Scopely is capable of finally doing something somewhat good they still suck at communication.

they need to add below deck officers that add warp range, not just rebrand current officers with a few tweaks.

I am SO excited about the FC Slot. I can't wait to have Kirk, Spock and Sloan all working together! If I don't end up with enough event credits, I'm gonna flip.

At this point I just focus on the daily BP event, then mining/reg dailies. As a F2P with a real job, I don't have the time for even more custom grinds.

Excited about the FC Slot but cautious due to the trend of lower and lower event loot.

FC slot is a huge win! now we just gotta wear them down on handing F2P 1 extra dock & an extra research queue during an event store. FC Janeway being added to the ncursions store would also be a great win if we could swing that.

There will be a reason for it. Most 40+ players will likely just be happy with the two free FC slots and not bother to work on other commanders. That's me. But now give me a 3rd slot for free and suddenly I have a space to fill. Maybe I need to part with some cash to do speed that up (I won't, but I can understand that is probably the thinking from Scopely bean counters).

They won't give f2p a free dock. They took the $50 G dock out of my store and when I asked about it they apologized for it not being there and said I could buy a $100 pack and they would convert it to a G dock pack, which they claimed was $100. I used to buy all the battle and flash passes but that move has cost them a sub

Dear Abby, The theme of 2024 is: Disengagement 5 yr player, recently stepped down from 4 yrs of being a commodore. Way too much to do in game every day and can no longer keep track of all the currencies and how to obtain them. (no, Scopley, this isn't how you earn credit card swipes.) As a middle aged dad of teens, I seldom have 20 consecutive minutes alone to do the mirror universe (or waves.) Adding 10 more minutes doesn't help. At all. I do waves when I can and they provided me with zero enjoyment. Typically, when I have time to do them everyone on the east coast is asleep and the wave systems are all empty. Years late and dollars short for my 2 Meridians, don't need a 3rd. Great for those it helps though, I'm sure. Scopely needs to understand the same logic that applies to "it's easier to buy the 2nd $100 pack than the first" applies to "it's easier to skip the second event than the first." The more events and dailies I can't do the easier it is to not do more. It's getting harder and harder to log in every day and guess what, once I skip one day it'll be easier to skip the next. [insert 2024 theme here] There was a newer refine, I forget which one, that I couldn't do the other day after having been refining it regularly and it hit me, I can't even recall how to earn that currency. Still can't, and the fact that I haven't been concerned enough to figure it out takes me back to this year's theme... Quality over quantity has jumped Jaws. As for the free 3rd fleet commander spot, I just can't see myself doing enough waves to make it happen. It's a "non-opportunity" they offer so they can say they offered it, all the while knowing few will be able to take advantage of it. Didn't finish yesterday's wave event and didn't even bother starting todays. It's a terrible event when you live on the west coast and can't play more than a few minutes at a time till after 10pm (1am eastern.) Didn't they get the memo the first time they did it, that daily wave events weren't enjoyed? W/my 5 free to play docks I didn't even get to a single cerritos buff for yesterday's second contact elite event. I tried to buy the $50 G dock recently but they took it out of my store. Told me I could buy a $100 pack and they'd convert it into the G dock pack, which they lied and told me was a $100 pack. Not only am I not jumping at the buy 2 get 1 offer, I've stopped buying the battle pass and officer flash pass packs. Thought they'd get an extra $50 but all they did was lose a subscriber. Haven't paid more than $20 for a pack but I was ready to jump into the $50 pool, then they overplayed their hand. I guess that's why they're running me out of town, I won't open my wallet for this game. Sorry to see the game take this turn. They need to let f2p grind out a rare officer or again we get behind and I have had alliance members quit due to falling behind and can’t keep up or even play due to lack of sourcing

Honestly, I would just be happy if we had a source of event store loot that wasn't tied to a new mechanic that means low G4 in particular are shut out. Mirror waves are tough. I don't have slouch ships for my ops level (42), but I also die after two ships hit on tier 1. Mirror Waves are not G4 content, and is currently the only way to get the event store loot without paying for it on day one.

A few months ago my amalgam was level 2. Neglected for 1.5 years. With voyager and the new speed ups, my amalgam is almost finished maxing up. Working on unlocking gorn eviscerator weekly. Almost have NX-01 unlocked to start that.

Hadnt noticed the Meridian service in our 1-star territory, thanks for pointing it out! Now I can finally finish off my 2nd one :D I'm glad they added SOME kind of affordable rare officer sourcing, but it feels to me like you'd pretty much never want to use either rare officer as soon as you have the rest of the Epic+Data mirror officer set. I was going to say that I like the FC slot but would be pouring all my event currency into Mirror Data, that is until I went to calculate what the equivalent shard cost would be just now and noticed he's capped at 40 shards for the month!? What is that??????? Just capping his effectiveness for F2P players for no reason? (other than obviously incentivizing spenders to drop more $$ on his packs to tier him up higher than possible for f2p) Saved up enough mats over the last few months to win officers I thought were good in SLBs, so I skipped on all the SNWs but got Mirror Pic and can probably get Mirror Kira. But now my new crew's effectiveness is going to be capped by the rare officer, who has no sourcing and wasn't even in the bp unlike this month's relatively useless rares lol. Would have considered buying my first battlepass since Carol last year if Data was in the elite track, but after seeing that I'm probably gonna continue to stay f2p for the rest of the year unless the value is completely game changing.

Hope they are not including the Attack Pattern Omega Mirror Universe Wave Defense in those required SMS completions. That one is ridiculously hard to complete for lower 40 players

Yeah, they can take those events and shove it. There's only a limited amount of surveys that lower 40s can hit, and such limited wave directives that bigs burn through them quick, so lucky to get what... 2 waves with a group of 40s? Total disconnect.

It's near impossible for lvl 46 players with T7 Pilums and a majority of the available research completed. Feel bad for those of you trying to get it done with a low tier uncommon G4. I gave up. Worst event store ever due to the ridiculous event structure

FC slot is a great edition, thanks for pushing for this! This then brings two other questions: 1) when will F2P sourcing for FC Janeway be available? 2) who to slot next to Kirk and Sloan?

Kirk-Sloan-Spock is my standard 3. can swap out Spock for Locutus if you're doing an incursion run. As far as your first question, TBD

While a FC slot is technically available, it will be extremely difficult for free to play or even low spenders to complete all the SMS. the first 2 days, the SMS requires that you complete mirror waves. Wave 1 requires you to beat beefed up level 38 hostiles that most players without a Faction 42 will not be able to beat more than a couple. Epic 34 ship got 2 kills and monaveen got 3. so you need 3 mirror waves minimum per day to complete. Most of us don't have surplus of S31 credits to buy more mirror defense waves. sure we can beat the survey ships, but takes a number of wave defenses to get this completed unless you have some big buddies in your alliance that will carry you past wave 1 or 2. My opinion - Scopely continues to discriminate against players who don't spend or are low spenders. I do like some of the QOL improvements (assuming I get to a level where I can access them someday)...this arc is another dissapointment so far.

Appreciate you pointing out some positive news. My biggest beef at this point for us little guppies that "only" purchase the 20$/month BP, no whip still...this makes FTs almost inconsequential. Been saving tier up catalysts for a month and I'm halfway to taking metreon cascade to t3. That is incredibly frustrating. Thanks for being the voice for the voiceless in scopely land.

So, to be clear… the sms events will allow you to unlock the FC slot? And we find this out after day 1 is essentially done and many people already failed to complete the sms due to limited wave entry tokens? Color me shocked that there was a catch from Scopely to get the ‘free’ unlock. 😑 I will bet all of my gold pressed latinum that a fair amount of these sms will be heroic or wave related, thereby becoming instantly unobtainable for most players with limited time to play the game.

Biggest issue is that we can’t do all of our sms’s this month. I can’t possibly get enough mirror ciphers to participate in enough wave defenses, and I don’t have the ships required and strong enough to score in these attack pattern events.

When will they adjust the prices and add new Transporter Pattern officers? When will we get Event Store extra builder, research, or repair dock?

Getting players to level up quicker just makes then also quit quicker as there become WAY too many things you have to do if you want any sort of pve progression once you hit lvl 50 and the big chunk of the playerbase of the lvl 50+ playerbase have quit on my server 195 due to the absurd amount of things they keep putting in while not optimizing the old stuff as that is also something that one kinda needs doing if ya wanna progress

Any word on when they're going to fix the repeated crash/freeze issue? Some days you need to restart 20 or more times. Last time I tried to use the mirror universe 15 out of the 20 minutes were wasted restarting the app.

Not to mention how long ago they outdated those officers. They might as well give you a coupon good for a free dinner at any Chi-Chi's, except for the one in Vienna, Austria

I was a bit worried we'd have to do 2 types of Waves, but I see there is a reasonable trade down (1,000 MU gives you 1,500) for section 31 credits. I'm not sure of the efficiency there, but that made me a bit happier.

Meridian. This is a good plus. I had to buy 4 in event stores. Ft whip still needs sourcing. As do many skins where I have 80+ but then sourcing didn’t make it in future event stores.

typical just as don't ever need to mine ISO again ever thanks to the 7 chest pull in the exborg store I get the ability to build more merdians!

Still no Ferengie whip, which is one of the closest things to P2W - the slot is one of the few genuine great additions

Bashing Scopely for daring to create new content is getting tiresome, and I'm guilty of that, I've done it on more than once occasion, though I am sure we'd complain more if the game was left to whither on the vine. With so much to attend to now, Ive had to tailor my play style to avoid becoming a slave to the game. I've abandoned unproductive loops, avoided a few that suck up too much time, and given up trying to chase niche officers & speciality ships. Even so, STFC still commands an hour a day, and I'm ok with that. Thanks for the videos Rev, always helpful.

I'm increasingly closer to abandoning all the loops. My nuro-diverse brain can't handle it. I'd much rather they build onto existing loops than create entirely new ones. I typically start playing at 10p Pacific/1a Eastern, the only new kind of wave I needed is one I can solo. As it stands, it's a garbage event for me

Nice vid, Rev. There is a lot of good stuff in there. But still way too much $$$ every month.

Not including the Rare officer unlock in the Elite Battle Pass is what made a lot of players ( myself included) stop buying the battle passes each month. Looks like they finally are listening to all of us who said that from the start. Also the FC slot for FREEEEEE in the event store is an amazing offer.

Okay, they never are going to stop. I've said this repeatedly. Doesn't matter what players "want". You're not getting months of 'nothing'. Not until the game goes into maintenance mode (where it won't get any new content ever again).

Be that as it may, I'm going to enjoy what I want in the game and ignore the rest. What I encourage everyone to do.

Simply put, I won’t be doing more waves. Was doing the first type however it was such a grind loop I knocked it on the head. Will not be doing this new garbage ether unless everything old is added to the Ex Borg and Ex Borg is boosted to speed up!

Are all the SMS going to be were we can complete them or will they be another middle finger from Doply (and yes I don't WANT TO DO THE MIRROR SHITAVERS)

Though I have 2 FC slots since I have Command Center at lvl 49, for someone who has theirs below 40 it sounds like they have to get it to 40 before the FC Slot unlock is in the event store. Was chatting with another member who is at lvl 54 ops like me but took a break and is working on lvl'ing things up but doesn't have the FC Slot unlock in the store.

Sounds all cool but the Attack Pattern Omega is impossible to do for under lvl 50 because Scopely are stupid and copy pasted the Level 50 Mirror wave hostiles to the Level 40 mirror wave systems.

I’m afraid it is. It’s not completing waves, it’s destroying hostiles in the wave. First attempt, my most two most powerful ships with my best crews and they didn’t dent the shields. So yes, absolutely impossible.

I literally just proved to you it's not impossible. Maybe you're not crewing correctly? Literally every G4+ player can kill the traders. Most early G4 specialty ships iwll handle the early specialty hostiles.

@@RevDeuce I really do appreciate the encouragement but I missed out on the first sms now, so I've missed out the chits. It'll be impossible to get the 180k needed to unlock that FC slot. On 168, Wave Defence is dead, no one does it. 50 wave systems, and right now there's just two being used at prime time, during a Wave Defence event. You simply can't polish a turd. Since the beginning of this year, this game has gone downhill. They keep throwing more and more stuff, hoping some of it sticks but all its achieving is making this game a second job. Its just not as fun as it once was.

@@RevDeuce It's impossible when you live on the west coast and can't sit down to do waves until 10pm local time. Group events are great when people to work and coordinate with are awake, otherwise they're useless

In regards to the event store, the problem is that all the sms for lower 40s are looking to be mirror wave defense related like. - killing 30 enemies with specific ship types. Unless you are 46 plus there is no way to do that without spending money. The 42 /specialty ships do no make a dent at all at those levels

not even all that possible at ops 46 very few level 46's are killing more than 12 a day on my server only the top 15 players in my bracket even finished the two days of smses, and I'm just guess here because there is a pay to score metric in the slb

Sure FC slot make arc event store A. Finaly have an unlock rare officer after 1y of no source S Rank. More Quanty and extreme more Quality.

In response to the needing to finish the sms’s 9:18 . that you bring up needing to be done for the FC slot how are we supposed to do that with the fact that the mirror waves require special chips and there is a three day cool down on those with all three events needing them run are within one of the three day cycles along with the fact that that 3day cooldown only gets you one run. There is the other point of the limited amount of runs and having a bug that messes up every run. The game force quits me and others as soon as the first wave starts and most of the time the first wave is dead before we even get back in the game. Limiting the amount of hostiles we can actually get and hit per run. Say today it cost me the one hostile I need to actually finish the sms. And yesterday cost me all 2 of my spare runs just to finish that sms. Meaning due to the bug I either finish todays sms or don’t a can try at tomorrow’s.

I can’t complete the SMS event to earn for the event store. The mirror waves are above what I can do. I’m level 45

I'll be honest, I had a hard time concentrating due to my shock at you actually mining...

So far it looks Like it's going to be a good month. Daily mu waves will go fast, the calendar doesn't look grind heavy. Only thing I like to point out out is the nx01 in the event is on the pricey side. But really it going to be unlock mirror data , then the fc seat, and we see what:s left after the 220k spent.

Don't wanna spoil the fun buuuuut.... if the SMS will only or mainly be completed by doing mirror waves than it's gonna be a dud. After we run out the initial MU Ciphers then the drop is - 1 wave every 3 days. So yeah, slot F2P but you need to buy more ciphers to do the events to get tokens to get the slot. Is it F2P at this point?

With no Chits in the Battle Pass, and the Mirror Waves being absolutely ridiculously difficult, especially for those in the low 40’s, this is the worst “Event Store” event I’ve ever seen.

@@RevDeuce Hey thanks for the reply. I am a fed/rom player who invested in red matter for my Kelvin or Newton, depending on need, and feel somewhat duped by the new release. My admiral showed me how his maxed out time crystal compares to the tantalus field, and it appears he is in the same boat. The extra apex barrier on top of the better player dmg output just seems insurmountable.

The moment they made a PvP event for the mirror systems I stopped going daily it wasn't worth the hassle

Absolutely hate wave defense… only done 2 since it first came out.

$100 packs are also ridiculous for a FC slot (I only have two FC so why would I want to unlock more - FC are crazy hard to get free). Drop in some $5 or $10 packs to allow nibbling away each month - I’m sure SCOPLY would sell way more of them than the $100 packs that a handful buy.

Mirror wave is impossible for most 40-45 it's a huge power jump. The idea that Scopily are being nice in allowing us to get that FC slot if we max SMS is laughable. If you are 45 or under you are PAYING to power up for it

So they add a bunch of new stuff (which they said they weren't going to do). Basically abandoned the mechanic created last month. Haven't improved any existing loops/ships/grinds. And to top it off YOU HAVE TO BUY THE RARE OFFICER FOR THIS MONTH?!? Oh but if you complete all your SMS this month you can get another FC slot. EXCEPT who can spend enough materials every weekend to finish that damn heroic recruit SMS??? I'm getting sick of all the the double speak coming from $copely. Rev - please encourage them to just be honest with us and say, "We only care about you giving us money".

The heroic recruit SMS has nothing to do with the fC Slot? I don't understand. Also, 3 loops were step up with this update?

Good to know that the goal of finishing every SMS doesn't include the heroic recruit so maybe the FC slot is achievable. Still, having to buy a rare officer is not the trend the game should make. I'm also wondering what 3 loops are better because at lvl 41 I feel like I'm being asked to spend more and more time in game

Pretty much you have to be at least in mid 50's to make it past wave 3. Without massive help from high level players

You absolutely do not have to be mid-50s to make it past Wave 3. Just need proper preparation and team work. I did a run with nothing but G4 players and made it to wave 6.

​@@RevDeuce I've done 5 of them now only one of them made it to wave 4 and that's because 3 of the players were over level 55, and I the other 4g player were sitting there watching as we both blew up in wave 3

Sounds like that group just isn't playing well. Maybe they don't know the hostile patterns or strategies. There's absolutely no reason to get stuck at wave 4 with g5 players.

As an ops 52 using a pilum and tribune i can kill through the 49s of the fkr types. Actually finished rd 10, 3manning it with a g6 and a rare g5 player.

Were people really asking for a mirror universe?

The only improvement is the amount of time's the game crashes and the increased circle of doom forces restart.

I'm done with waves...I have never said I'm done with any event but no no more this is just not for me.

add more territory or limit alliances to 3 pieces tired of five major alliances being hogs and taking all of it that matters

But it matters to them and their people. So those leaders have to do what’s best for the people they have. That doesn’t make them hogs, that makes them efficient leaders 🤔

The only thing I like about this update is the bug or bug fixes, as I haven't come across any since then. I don't care about mirror universe, I know the rewards and I know what it entails, but mirror universe is only the second in order of evil in my ranking after the pvp system, it won't beat anything until it changes, but I don't think it's in danger. It's just my opinion, don't talk me out of it, don't even try.

Nice video, thanks! Side note - and I hate to seem contrary or like a shill for Copely, but - it’s okay to ignore the “I won’t do waves” and “I won’t do MU” people. These were good additions to game but some people just like to complain, that doesn’t mean they represent the less vocal majority of players

There is too much stuff, Ive not even started on the Mirror stuff yet.
