That line made me uncomfortable. It seems Meredith still hasn't got fully past her mother's obsession with having to be extraordinary, although she's halfway there. Personally I think telling a child they're extraordinary is pretty bad, even if it's less bad than telling them they're not. In my experience it's the last thing smart overachieving kids need to hear. They need to hear that it's OK to _not_ be extraordinary. That it's not their job to save the world and that it's fine if they don't 'live up to their potential'. Kids like Zola are exactly the kind of kids who tend to put way way too much pressure on themselves already.

@@junbh2 i understand your point..but the thing is Meredith told her you have always been and will always be extraordinary..in other words she told her that she is amazing the way she is.. Zola was really having anxiety about letting her mother down and she expressed that when she asked her if it's ok not to become a Doctor . I think it's bad to expect your kid to be above the usual.. but if they want to be you gotta boost their self confidence. Telling your kid to be ordinary when they can be much more is hard for them too I think Mer is creating a safe zone for Zozo to je what ever she wants

My then 12th grader and I packed up and moved from NYC to AZ for almost a year to meet her academic and socialization needs. This is not a far-fetched idea, and I'm impressed that the writing team created such a realistic storyline.

This episode feels very sort of connection to myself. I started to have anxiety attacks when I was 10, now 15 in high school still got them from pictures of real animals on textbook, things that pop, loud noises and also scared telling my parents. Now, I don't know whether I should go to the counseling office or just going with life. Maybe some day, all that will be gone forever. Wish me luck from Malaysia.

You could try talking to a counsellor or your favourite teacher. Someone might be able to help? I hope you find a solution so you don't have to be so anxious.

I would love a spin-off if Meredith isn’t in it. I think she’s given her best to the Greys world but I’m ok with not seeing her in Boston

Honestly, I love this... I love how it shows all of the character and growth of Meredith, in this one interaction with Zola. She wouldn't move for Derek, because Derek wouldn't move for her. Sure, it was set up to be them moving for Merediths Fellowship when they started talking about it, but by the end, it was revealed that it was mostly just a convenient way to frame it so that Derek could fit both his surgical ego and his husband-persona into the decision. Don't get me wrong, I loved MerDer, and I still do most of the time. Derek helped build Meredith up to what she is, but he was also an ass who needed to kiss another woman to realise he was making the worst mistake of his personal life, because of professional ego. But with Zola, she was so ready to follow Meredith anywhere, never worried that she would have to start over in Minnesota because her mum would be so happy with Nick. And Meredith is every bit the mum she never had, so of course she would uproot her life for her brilliant daughter and only consider a crazy career opportunity as viable when she knew it would work for Zola. Meredith was never meant to be a trailing spouse, but she could never say no to being a trailing mum, because she knows that her sun is also meant to help light the way for the best things she's done with her life; Zola, Bailey and Ellis... :)

I swear if this show keeps going on and I don't get to see more of Meredith as a mom or jackson and april I'm gonna cry. I get shows end and begin, it's the way of television but I love them too much! Maybe a spinoff with them three? I'd love that: a new start.
