NOTE: The 2015 GL450 is a V6 Twin Turbo, while 2013-2014 are V8 Twin Turbo. The 2013-2015 GL550 are V8 Twin Turbo.
DO NOT use this video for a 2015 GL450, which has a V6.
DIY video of oil change on a 2013 GL450. The same method can be used on GL450 and on other MB Classes with the M278 Twin Turbo engine.
Below is parts list. You can buy them from Amazon or elsewhere.
8mm socket for removing plastic apron
13mm socket for oil pan drain plug
Oil filter size 276-180-00-09

The washers on the oil filter you talk about are called o-rings but great video

Friends, I have the 2015 m278 . I have a ticking noise after it's warmed up and the revs go down. And also noise from the front when I go over potholes or speed bumps. Did you have these problems and how did u fix them?
What was torque spec on oil pan?

thanks. I did have a shop do the plugs. However, I should have done them myself. There is one youtube video on a spark plug change on m278 engines. the video is not clear though, but the principle is the same. the toughest part i think is removing the air filter hosing.

The GLS550 from 2015 to 2019 is the same M278 engine. So I am expecting the process to be the same but the bottom plastic apron bolts may be different.
Hey there.... great video! I just bought a 2014 s550 and from the vehicle data card my engine is "278929 30 196026" so does this mean I have an M278 engine?? Sorry - I'm new to all of this..... it is a V8 twin turbo 4.7L...... would it be the same engine as this one in your video? I'm having a hard time locating oil change DIY for the W222 so I came across your video....any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks. Yes, your S550 is the same M278 Twin Turbo engine but tuned differently to provide more horsepower and torque. Your under paneling will be different but the engine is the same.
Any one knows how to change the air filters? Looks very difficult task...

well changing the air filter is not easy b/c you have to remove the air hoses and those are one time use clamps, or the clamps are difficult to put back on. I don't know why MB did not use regular clamps.
