Great review! Congrats on reaching 100k subscribers too! I like the middle part of the rear. The window and tailpipes are less successful I think.. I do like the Mercedes interiors of late! One of the more successful changes in the last years I think! I'm not sure whether I would go for it since the competition is special too though..

Thomas, I had the GLK. Now the GLC. Somehow the GLK was better built. I don't deny the better gadgets, a more luxurious feel and ride but there was a solidity to the GLK that it's hard to match especially in small details. It felt better put together if I may say. What do you think?

Previous new car we bought was a Skoda Superb Elegance, in Australia. My wife is now in the US, since August last year. I was here, in the US, in October for one week. One thing I did was try cars to decide on which to lease. Durango R/T was one, thé GLC another, Q5, Buick Enclave. To start with, Honda Civic was a plan but the sales people at Honda was terrible. The Merc was clearly the best. The Buick was good. The Q5, good but a bit oldish. So we bought a GLC300 (US specific with 240 hp, AMG package). My wife is in love with the car. Really great car. Comfort, quality of build, engine. Really good car. Just a bit surprised by the specs selected by Merc for the cars ready to go. Like ours: AMG pack, but no Command. The info system control is too complicated. Still, a great car, absolutely no regret. Would get it again.

Very good review, Thomas! About the traffic signs, in Finland we have a sign for tunnel ending which I suppose is also in Germany? In my opinion a very useless and dumb sign :-D

Great video! I am seriously considering buying this vehicle. In the USA we have an option for 14-way adjustable seats, which, I believe, brings in power forward/back movement. I am curious if in Germany the car goes into neutral when you power it off? In the USA that was one big complaint. Some people would stop the car, turn it off and the car goes into neutral. So, if they take their foot off the brake, the car would begin to roll. One must manually out the car into park. Overall, though, I think MB did a great job with this model, as you have done with this review. Thanks for the great work!!

I know I'm late to watching this... but what do you mean you don't believe in diesel any more? Diesels use less fuel and the diesels I've seen output less CO2 than their petrol counterparts.

The new Diesels consume more than before due to extensive filter technology and scr injection. Meanwhile petrol consumes less than before due to mhev technology. They are closer now

I want to buy comfort and diesel economy. Definately get AirMatic Suspension. Just have to wait until the new 2.0 OM654 is installed, 9 spd auto would be fantastic.

LOVE my GLK but handing it off to the wife soon so I am looking at new either the GLC or E coupe AWD . . . I do not like the new dash which appears an afterthought in design as if an iPad was glued to the dash instead of sculpted into the design of the dash. GLK was a Class frame with E class engine - great power and controlled ride, very utilitarian and held up extremely well.

Would you buy this car without air suspension? It's an expensive option, and the dealer told me you could have problem with it after about 5 years, if you're keeping the car for an extended period of time. Great video too - best review I have seen by far!

+TailsK wow thats honest of your dealer. Air suspension is awesome but indeed very expensive to fix when it is broken at some point. Mb standard suspension is also very good!

Great review, however I’d like to see you do the review on the same model except the petrol version 🙏 We love good quality medium size SUV’s here in Australia because our government/councils don’t care for the quality of our roads ,, (Poe holes and poor conditions) so most people I know are starting to pick up these types of vehicles. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 Could someone send a link where he does a petrol version 🙏🙏 Thankyou in advance

It’s been a while since the review now, but i just saw it and wonder about the PDC-system. You mention the digital ”dots” in the middle screen, but say nothing about the really nice ones you see in the rearview mirror, or are these optional? Thanks for a great review!

Hi Thomas, nice and complete reveiw as allways. As remarks, can you use a third camera for the road wiew when you are in test drive? We can understand how the distronic plus work for example. Also take care with camera zoom, for example in this video we can not see how much free space is on the top of your head on the back seats. Anyway great job considering that you do everything yourself, without other person help!

There's no excuse for GLC's rear seats to be fix and unable to slide or recline! Most SUVs at half the cost have adjustable rear seats! It's one of the main reasons why people buy SUVs instead of sedans.

Notice any tire crabbing/skipping when fully locked?

Great review as always- so good, watched it twice. Thomas, given the diesel issues, would you choose hybrid or petrol in future? Seems hybrid may be the way to go if you can. Also, what is the cool music at 0.40? Thanks.

thanks m8 ! In generel: Diesel emissions are more poisonous to us than petrol emissions. Thus regulations will be put up even higher for Diesel engines which makes them more expensive to produce

I prefer GLC.It looks so beautiful and elegant. GLK is sporty and sharp but not my type.

I think the likes of the F-Pace have set my standards of design too high. this certainly doesn't look bad, but it just seems generic. I suppose there's a large market for a safe option

They tested this at Top Gear last week. I though the GLC looked better than the F-Pace (that's in the same price class btw) and Porsche Macan (higher priceclass). Both the Porsche and Jaguar were out of touch design wise imho. The F-Pace looks like a XE or XF with a SUV base underneath it.

always hated the glk looks I like this one better more modern but I still love my mercedes sedan I'm still not in the suv faze yet

Hi! Did I see it right? You checked the noise level with smartphone? That's very unreliable.

Great video as always. In my opinion the GLC is relatively boring and uninspiring, I much preferred the GLK's different and rugged look. The GLC just looks like every other compact SUV. Although the interior in the GLC is most definitely a step up from the GLK.

hey Thomas, o-100 kmh is not the same as o-60 mph. if o-100 is 7,6, then o-60 would be around 7,3s. where is your german precision? )

I have a mystery:- UK isn't getting the GLC hybrid and nor are we getting a BMW X3 petrol hybrid line up. I've asked and they don't have a reason. We seem to be flooded with diesels and I don't like them. I loved the GLC and X3 but can't for alternative engines. Any more information you could shed on this would be helpful?

Hey, yes I could do a separate video on that. In short: the emission limits for diesels will rise and rise and it will get too expensive to produce diesels that match those limits

If not even in an SUV you cant feel confortable as 3rd person in the back...everyone buying SUVs these days for only incity driving and you cant even off road with most of them. Love when I meet with a huge HUV on all the small streets between blocks.

I don't understand the Mercedes philosophy of the display in the middle of the cockpit. Why it is not integrated inline with the surrounding cockpit? For me it looks like if the display will not belong to the cockpit and was integrated afterwards. So it was forgotten and they chose a place more or less a good place...Cheers DrDuu

I agree, I had a glk and loved it! Just had a glc loner and love the new car overall , the looks are meh. I feel like at any given moment it resembles like 59 other cars on the road lol all the small suvs starting to look the same

Good question. As for compact SUVs, I really like the new Tiguan and Ateca, although (or maybe even because) they are less expensive. As for expensive ones, we will soon test the Porsche Macan GTS, that one could be for you then as well

Very nice review, keep up the good work. I have to say: Speedometer and rpm gauge are awful on this car...like they were borrowed from some low quality small car. Unbelievable...

I liked the GLK much more. The boxy design really stand out of the crowd (and other Mercedes models) and the interior really matched the exterior. This GLC looks slumpy from the outside and really tight from the inside. Despite materials it really lost its caracter.

The GLK didn't make any sense anymore design wise. Maybe some people liked it, but that was only a very small niche.

In GLK, the K stands for Kompakt or Kleine (little in german). So the GLK was designed as a litlle version of the GL and it was the same idea with SLK (a little SL) and the CLK (a little CL), all 3 based on the C-class. Now the SLC and GLC have the right name and CLK has been replaced by the C-coupe on the sporty way and the E-coupe from on the luxury way.

So disappointed, after watching this video I knew that it was the car that I wanted. I was worried about the seat comfort on a long journey so I asked Thomas about it and he replied that it was great! Unfortunately when we took a GLC for a test drive we discovered that you can not exit the car without your leg touching the sill and that means your clothes get dirty. We test drove both cars, i.e. with, and, without the running boards. 'What do you think' ? Love Autogehful and a big Thank you to Thomas.

Autogefühl, oh, I wish that was the case, I have a Discovery Sport and there is no problem with the sill at all. As I said, I had set my heart on getting a GLC so you can imagine my disappointment. I am considering an ml250 bluetec but I am worried about the running costs. Love Autogefühl, the best motor videos by far. Thank you
