Service manual said to add grease from the bottom until it overflows from the top hole....is there a fill plug on the bottom?

How many pumps should I do on this, I read somewhere 3-4 pumps and not to overfill or it can damage/ blow the seal

@@dubaiwatchguide359 until it fills to the hole. For some it may be 3 pumps, for others it could be a tube or more...all depends on how low it is

what grease did you added in it? please share details

mobil 1 synthetic multi purpose grease

Havnt done that in 5 years.....but just sits in the driveway....just for Sundays....gotta do the pass. window just noticed it wont open....not the fuse...got my 463 from europa a ways back

window motors are usually gummed up brushes in the motor . electrical contact cleaner may solve it

I'm not sure if the G55 uses a different swivel housing grease than the G500 . I would assume they are the same

As long at it is NLGI2 you are good. They recommend any color but black so you can tell if grease is leaking from your CV joints.

agreed. was planned for this summer past , but never got the time

since the grease inside the swivel housing was dirty, doesn't that mean the seal is leaking?

Not really .. the seal is there to retain most of the grease , and clean the swivel of dirt and moisture. The grease itself is the real barrier to dirt entering , The seal is more of a wiper than a true seal . The grease is kind of sacrificial and needs to be refilled regularly

@@fupabox i have read differing thoughts on this and can't be sure. some people say that the grease inside the swivel housing should be its original color because if the CV boot is ruptured the dirty grease could cause a lot of damage to the cv joint if it enters. therefore ,the swivel housing need to be resealed. since that is a big $$ job i'm just trying to get a better understanding

@@joshc504 After 15 years there is not much chance it can be the original colour . I'm sure it has a bunch of different greases mixed in there . I have read articles on ripped cv boots and leaking axle seals mixing the greases . I don't believe that is happening on mine , but the only way to be sure would be to do a seal replacement just to check it all.

A little silly to not clean out the bolt before you start stripping it. Tapping the bit into a dirty bolt won't help in most cases.

@@slappsly no prob , The hole was rusted a bit smaller,even after scraping it out with a small screwdriver :)

IF grease is leaking out it means the internal seals are failing. It needs a repair not just a refill.
