😊 Hey guys! We created the Chase Car channel to give viewers a broad overview of the upcoming new cars from the top car manufacturers. We are huge fans of pickup trucks of all sizes: compact, mid-size and full-size trucks. So mostly, we will cover new upcoming trucks, but besides that, here you can find a lot of content about new sedans and SUVs too.
The Electric Vehicle wave sooner or later will become huge, so this type of content might appear on this channel from time to time. But as we are still on the way to becoming fully electrical, we mostly cover fossil cars from many amazing brands.

EV's have a place in the future. The current ones do not, they are likely just step 1 of a 3 or 4 step process in EV vehicle development. My guess is that 5+ years down the line no one would consider the current generation of EV Vehicles, and that the current generation will not have much (if barely any) used car market and will almost certainly be junked by 10 years of age (and most sooner than that). As a comparison: The average ICE vehicle last 26 years before being junked.

YES of course they are IF we want a future at all. Of course ICEs could go the route of finding environmentally friendly fuels that replace fossil fuels, but so far they have no intention of that; so yes OBVIOUSLY EVs are the future. To drive that point across new types of EV batteries are being developed that would provide faster charges, longer range, and be far less contaminant than lithium. Even more, as it is China has already created an EV that charges in 10 min and has a range greater than that of the average ICE. To all that we add how big a leap technological leap EVs have made in a matter of less than 10 years, so the speed of their technological advancement is surpassing that of ICEs. so again YES , HELL YES, EVs are the future.

So true there, the government mandates for EVs is utterly moronic. Does not help that the government is also the biggest purchaser of EVs as well. Therefore, the actual market of EVs is much smaller than any of these companies think it is. If anything, the EV market will shrink while the ICE and Hybrid models continue to grow and actually sell.

We need easy fixable cars that can be repaired easily with out special computers and highly trained technicians. The mantra reduce, reuse and recycle does not mean anything in the automotive world today. They produce cars that are unrepairable and the parts that can be repaired are too expensive.

Basically- In the real world; the arse dropped out of the second-hand EV market when people realized that a replacement battery was more expensive than the car itself... MB buyers look on it as an investment (sort of). Buy what you can afford, and then upgrade as you can. This relies heavily on being able to sell the old one at a not considerable loss. But in reality- you cant do this with an EV. They are dead money, a financial boat anchor, and no-one is THAT stupid.

Lol. Manufacturers have realized that auto sales are low! Lol. They are not selling the cars they had hoped to sell. They have to cancel their expensive plans. High interest rates and a consumer base that is more interested in higher-tech features. Stale old designs don't sell anymore. Their traditional market is not selling, and they make a profit only on their ICE cars. They do not make enough EVs to turn a profit, so they have to either A) start building enough EVs that they can turn a profit. B) Return to selling only 100-year-old technology. They have chosen. China is the largest car market and right now more than 40% of car sales are EVs. Global EV sales will be about 25% this year. If your company does not produce at least 25% EVs as their mix of cars there is no reason to think they will survive - they are producing ICE cars that nobody wants. The best estimates we have now are that the world has produced an excess of about 5-6 million cars that will not sell this year. About 90% of these excess vehicles are ICE. About 5 million excess ICE vehicles and another third of a million are mostly hybrids. The same thing is happening with GM - 139 days of inventory... their production is about 5 months ahead of sales. They seem to be adding a week of excess each month. These guys will have to close ICE factories and cancel shipments of materials because they are so far ahead. They cancel their battery orders and those companies still need to sell them - Tesla says "thank you" because they can buy them at a huge discount. This is what it looks like when you lose a price war.

I am surprise how very few, specially amongst trade market so called “experts” (more than amongst true automotive market analysts like Toyota has some good ones), saw it coming, the current market collapse for EV’s. I guess each factor affecting negatively the EV market taken individually (Nord Stream, Li price, surplus on the used market, etc) did not appear significant enough to many of our experts ….Even adding up together the few identified problems and with business as usual, this could be easily offset again by even more lies and toxic massive propaganda fooling the natives to purchase fast devaluation junk... In reality, those factors DID NOT just add up, they all work “in synergy” to multiply their global negative impact…and this is the crisis we are facing right now: 14 mio EV’s in 2023, 17 mio foreseen for 2024 in 2023…and such a so disastrous Q1 2024 sales total that the 3 mio extra for the year is already lost!!! Meanwhile no. 1 goes from 3.5 millions hybrids sales in 2023 to 5 millions in a 2024, a monstrous 43% growth rate without dropping the prices either while winning the ACEEE 2024 greenest car award with a PHEV and ranking first and better than Tesla on overall GP in 2023. Attracted like honeybees by those sweet « good old suv profit margins levels » the copy-paste followers like BYD, Honda and Mazda became also suddenly found of a massive hybridation…but they are still far behind….to bad to be late surfing the big wave, because much ahead of time, the whole BEV market collapse could be foreseen…the day a stupid Karen realises that carrying 1000 pounds of battery over 5 miles to get 20 pounds of groceries at the nearby supermarket and being unable to do anything else useful with the not cheap coal wagon, it got a bit too much….the total domestic gigantic electric tricky waste…So, for the poor “startups” with only BEV’s in the pipeline and new unfinished factories to reimburse fast….it’s getting Frisker outside!!! the layoff sanctions are immediate. For all of them, it smells 🌲 🌲 🌲 even without much of the Californian and Oregon forests on 🔥 🔥 🔥 . LOL……😂😂😂

The progression of who generally wants EVs is a bit of an odd one. First you get the wealthy first adopters willing to pay 100k plus for a car with Honda civic build quality car with more issues so long as that is an electric car. Next you get largely tech savvy engineering types who are willing to put up with the downside sides to have a high tech car. Now family cars that kids love and parents like the safety of. Yes by the stats they are safer than gas cars despite what fear mongers say. Currently the group who really want EVs are younger people with not a lot of money wanting a very cheap one as a mostly daily commuter. What is interesting is outside of Tesla other car companies seem to think use what works with gas cars and apply to EVs. And they end up constantly trying to sell to groups of customers that don’t exist.

BS. The wealthy do not use electric clunkers. The electric clunkers are very polluting (starting with the mining of different raw materials and ending more than 93% without recycling - despite what some like Redwood claim, because the recycling is very expensive vs. production, just like for photovoltaic panels), very expensive, unreliable (Tesla, their champion barely made it to #17 in Consumer Reports annual reliability surveys), dangerous, impractical, disposable (their battery cost almost as a new car) and very controllable. And the high reliability and the low TCO are the main requests from the smart consumers.

Not a chance of that happening unless governments force the issue - which they have just tried and failed. The world is going to end up like Cuba and running around in old ICE cars unless common sense prevails. Hybrids I can understand but, pure EVs are only for City/Town driving.

It's likely going to take at least 1 and perhaps 2 decades for the EV companies to accomplish that. In the meantime they are turning off most people with their maintenence, charging issues, and the requirements for battery replacements - espeically for used cars (there is virtually no used car market for used EVs). The average ICE vehicle lasts 26 years before being junked. At this point there is no evidence that any EV will last beyond 10 years without expensive battery replacement (at least once if not more times than that). Due to accidents affecting batteries the insurance industry junks EVs if the battery affected at all.

The grid and generating capacity to enable any meaningful improvement in charging is never going to be affordable. Without equivalence in energy density of batteries vs Diesel, it is never a feality, just dreams as we hear every year for the last 10 years orso “….but better batteries are coming…” , as likely as everyone on the planet becoming multi millionaires.

We use electric motors on most all our equipment at work and they work great for years. Electric motors on cars aren't bad, they just need more time, but pushing them out after COVID was the worst time to bring these to the market.

Those electric motors that last for many decades in factories have a lot more mass and larger shaft diametiers per HP than what the EV vehicle motors have. I expect that the EV motors are not going to last nearly as long.

Motors work really well with a direct connection to the grid. Batteries are plain hopeless in comparison, costly, dirty, inefficient, you name it. Short of having Tram car overhead lines or slot car powered tracks, EV’s limitation will always be the use of heavy batteries.

  • @DerBingle1

The problem is that battery technology isn't up to the application. EVs will go away for a while, then make a big comeback when the batteries are up to the task. Also, enough technicians will be trained to handle the maintenance issue.

What is going to happen in 2035 when new fossil fuel cars will be banned. Not sure how the military is going to rely on evs. Politicians should have left it to the markets not dictate what should be sold. If government put money into more tram systems as an urgent task it may reduce demand for cars period. However gov will not do this but puts the costs on its citizens.
