Latest is not always the greatest, unfortunately. I am underwhelmed by this car and don't think this is going to do too well. The new Lucid looks so much better than this. I appreciate Thomas as well.

@@vecernicek2 The two tone doesn’t work at all but I think the classic silver looks fantastic. The Lucid is nice with that chunky front profile, but the rest of it is quite boring.

I am not, historically, a big Mercedes fan but they have knocked it out of the park with this vehicle. The future is going to be so unbelievably amazing. So much about this car is cutting edge. I love the dash.

Danke für die Aufnahmen vom einfarbig lackierten EQS. Alle Kollegen haben nur die First Edition gezeigt. Die normale Lackierung macht das Auto ansehnlicher und ruhiger. Die Formgebung ist trotzdem sehr gewöhnungsbedürftig und erinnert sehr an einen Prius. Ich weiß nicht, ob sich Mercedes damit einen Gefallen tut. Auch wenn die technischen Vorzüge des Designs klar auf der Hand liegen, möchte man bei dem Preis einer S-Klasse evtl. eine schicke, edle und elegante Gestaltung. Ich bezweifle, dass die Zielgruppe nur auf die technischen Daten achtet.

Thanks, but I'd rather not drive a screen. Audi's Q4 still has real buttons for HVAC controls and audio, they know what the customers want.

It look good yes, but what happened to the good old lemo? A proper S-class with the star and grill? I miss that!

Do the auto doors have sensors? Curious as to how they would work in a tight parking space

Yes they have sensors. This is nothing new. Late model S classes have sensors so when you manually open the doors they actually pause if they sense an obstruction. The same close assist components are used to create resistance to alert you to stop.

I think the door closed due to gesture control that is on the EQS. When you moved your hand the car may have thought you were waving the door shut.

Yeah, I've seen a little Mercedes clip where someone did this to close the door as they were clipping in.

So glad to see in great detail for what went into the car and how it looks in 4K HD. The implementation of capacitive touch screens indicate that voice using NLP (Natural Language Processing with Nvidia's new Software Defined Automotive Systems partnership) will be the future. The regular paintjob looks so much better than dual tone and the AMG line style front bumper design imo looks a bit too aggressive on otherwise sleek overall design, prefer simpler design. Mercedes never cease to amaze me with their interior craftsmanship but this EQS is just on another level. That HyperScreen is futuristic af but maybe can be a bit distracting while driving. Great review Thomas 👍🏼

IMO, the huge spanning screen is a good option if you're planning on driving the car yourself and having a front passenger. For chauffeur driven orders, it makes more sense to just have the "classic" set up.

Great tour review. Autogefühl is the best. A few first impressions: - The short front hood makes it look less "upper market", almost R-class like - I'm a fan of technology and all that, but I miss physical buttons for often used functions. For me, despite the perfect engineering and high precision in all the details (each one apart cos never have seen them in a match together where the eyes can see), the exterior shape design is not successful at all, the profile, the side windows include a lot of divisions so the car feels like a mini-bus! The front looks like a washing machine, and the back is far from proportions especially with the location of the logo there, man! The two colors are not acceptable at all! The car doesn't look beautiful at all.

For me too, the interior design is not working for me, I don't see beauty, but like always, deceived by the perfect detailing and the high precision! There is a lack of beauty and artistic proportions in the doors' interior design, as well as on the dashboard design side! The left and right a/c diffusers are in a bad intersection with the big screen's continuous glass! Regarding the steering wheel, despite that I liked its design, I see there is a possibility of an accident that can result if my hand/fingers get stuck in the gap between the double-spoke in one steering situation!

I like the hyperscreen and the interior but I dislike the exterior. The back with that unibrow reminds me of an Audi and the front is just meh. Maybe I am bias cuz I own a pre-facelift W222. Anyways, thanks Thomas. It is always a pleasure to watch your objective videos.

Great video as expected. These doors man, I sure do hope they gave some safety sensors, especially for tight parking spaces. Hope they bring similar tech to maybe an A class sedan version. That would be even more exciting.

In general, the thought of an enormous, all electronic, luxury hatchback would not have put a smile on my face. However, Congratulations to Mercedes Benz for setting a new automotive world standard for e-luxury sedans for the 21st century. The EQS is an impressive achievement. Thank you Thomas, and Autogefühl, for the wonderful introduction.

Great presentation Thomas. The two-tone seems daft, the bezels on the hyperscreen are much too much. Overall this car looks good.

Did anyone notice when driving for an hour or two that our eyes will be facing this "hyper" screen with its dark deep black color in the middle of a sunny day! For me, It means to be a failure in the interior design concept especially when it is totally shut down after becoming boring to look at it! Otherwise, the screen should project a new virtual dashboard designed with brighter balanced colors and with more horizontal design lines in beautiful and relaxing proportions! Man! Anyway, thanks again for the in-depth review, it allowed me to put in words what this review made me honestly feel! Cheers, to Autogefühl🍻🍻🍻🎵✨

Love it although I think the one bow design will take a little getting used to with the bonnet being so short. Front 3/4 with those arches looks good, as does the rear 3/4 view.! It will be interesting to see how this design language translates to the EQE. Love how that microfibre looks!

The doors that electrically open and close for the passengers have been around for quite sometime. All Toyota Crown taxis have that feature in Japan. For hygienic reasons, of course.

Fantastic review of a game changing car.

I'm not sure people are ready for this Mercedes look with the short front side. All previous models had a long bonnet/front side which inspires horsepower (because you had a big longitudinal engine there under the bonnet which needed quite some space). In the EQS the front resembles a bit with a Honda Civic.

A new S-class is always exiting and Daimler sure knows how to make nice interiors, I don't think anyone ever doubted that and I love the two-tone, wish more cars had that option. Still, considering Daimler was a major shareholder in Tesla for years, why did it take 10 years for them to make an electric S class, especially since the sound system isn't ready? or the automatic doors that has been a model X feature for 5 years? No frunk either, take it they didn't manage to arrange things to make room for a frunk and they don't want us to see it. I do hope everything works as intended; performance/range/charging/OTA updates and so on but I also bet Daimler wish they had held onto their Tesla shares, they would've been first in line to join the world's biggest super-charging network and offer a 1000 km range with the new battery tech. Finally, prices and production start/capacity would be good, without them it's not really there, is it? Or maybe this is just Daimler's way to avoid paying EU emission fines?
