Unacceptable for a car in this price range. What was Mercedes thinking?

Comparing this to a Tesla is like comparing a Villato a garden shed.

All those led trims interiors are starting to become gimmicky and ridiculous. Elegance and sportiveness should not turn into a childish design extravaganza

This is just the same approach as with smartphones : 90% of the available features are unknow (hence unused) by the user, but they are available to those who value them. (A bit like our kids that have a smartphone to use it for all kinds of stuff … except for calling …)

Those range results show that 450+ is basically the only one worth buying. AMG is fun, but that difference in range and consumption is massive.

Price is pretty scary, but overall only car that can challenge Tesla in practicality and long distance traveling

The weight is insane at 2.8 tons ! That is 750 kg more than the ICE Mercedes S Class 500.

EVs are heavier but much more powerful, so you rarely feel the extra weight. Also heavier cars grip better.

You should make a video about the new charging-curve of model 3 and y. It's quiet improved. Above 250kw to 25% soc.

Hi Bjorn, some small corrections : * all EQS have the rear spoiler (AMG 53 probably one that is a little bit larger) * screen that shows Power and Torque is not divided between front and rear engine, but between acceleration and deceleration * higher consumption for beefy cars is probably due to difference in tires (typically wider, hence Cx goes down) - are you sure about the tire-info in the table at the end of the video ? (Because the AMG 53 normally comes with 275/40 (or 275/35 if choosen optional rims) - maybe this is different from country tot country ?

Steering error isn't a bug, it's a *feature* How else would they maintain the revenue stream for the workshops? 🤣 You gotta meet those Mercedes people once in awhile

first. Not sure that would be one I would choose. If I had the money I probably would go for the "base" 580 version.

The loud sound saying Acoustic Lock is the feature where you want to find your car when you forgot where you parked. Maybe the key was in one of your pockets and triggered the acoustic lock?

I did a road trip in a Mercedes EQB recently.. What I couldnt decide was whether to use the built in SAT NAV and let that calculate the route and charging stops.. or to use Android Auto google maps and pick the stops myself.. or to use ABRP or ZAPMAP (im in UK). Also, if I use Android Auto then will the car pre-heat the battery before a charging stop? ABRP might know about chargers... but does it pick the best route and know about traffic? Also. Is it worth linking ABRP to your car with an OBD or via the app.. And if you do does the car pre-heat before charging stops? Would love to see a video comparing these things.

thats a good point. would be interesting to see a test on that. I guess its somewhat a hassle using a car with software that does not do all of that for you. I have used both zap map and ABRP in UK and it works ok. I have recently driven twice from London to isle of skye in Scotland and back (Tesla M3 and MY), and I have to say, using Tesla navigation and planning my charges is easy breazy. such a solid system that just works... legacy automakers take notes...

@Bjørn Nyland have you checked out the latest Tesla Software 2022.40.XX? Auto high beam have been improved dramatically! A follow up video to the „Tesla vision fail“ Video would be super interesting.

Really? I got to try a newer Model Y yesterday evening, with 2022.40.4. Still the car waited several seconds to reactivate high beams after passing vehicles in the opposite direction.

@@stians.gjsund3114 interesting. I really hope it has improved. knowing tesla they are quite quick at fixing things over air when they get feedback from customers. IMHO the non responsive auto highbeam is the only annoying thing with tesla as of now..

Nice videos as always. Can you do a rangetest with for example tesla model 3. From Marcus Bil Original big wheels and wide tires. Then a test with ( if it fits ) 17 inch wheels with normal size 225/45 profile? The profile of course must have the right rolling circumference Must make a difference in rolling resistance and lower consuption Regards from Sweden

Always liked the EQS 580 4 Matic in black, all black but the AMG EQS it's Also a good car the price is high but it is what it is right.

I've just ordered an EQE53 AMG. The dealer just called me yesterday and offered me the EQS53 AMG as an ex demonstrator doe a whopping 30% discount. This makes the Demo EQS the same price as the new EQE. Apart from making me worry about the massive depreciation that either car will suffer, I'm now faced with a conundrum. Brand new EQE oe 4 month old 5,000km EQS for the same money.... Tough choice. What would you recommend Bjorn? You've driven both, which would make the better car?

@@sboone1074 Ended up with the EQE SUV. They weren't available here in NZ when I ordered, but 3 weeks before the sedan arrived they announced the first shipment of the SUVs, so I switched. Amazing car...

Super interesting to compare MY to this car as you mentioned.

Extra weight might be additional press car insulation normal customers won't get. They've been doing that for decades.. Probably varies between different press cars as well.

Disprove that the production codes for press cars exist(ed) (The codes are for example 0902 at BMW, 740 at Porsche and funnily enough 911 for Mercedes.) Nope. These press cars are regular customer cars that are use for press and then sold usually after a few months and 10-20k km to regular customers. If there was some conspiracy like you claim then lots of private persons would notice a difference. And I also test cars from regular people that I borrow from. They are not different than press cars. So your claim is wrong.

@@bjornnyland You can literally google a few of the terms I used in the seemingly shadow banned comment to find people who bought prior press cars. Most of the time it is not visible and almost all of the time it is impossible for somebody who buys a used car every few years to tell the difference. I'll stop now and let you believe whatever you want.

If you buy an EV, range and consumption is the most discussed questions. This version has no use for daily driving. For daily driving the EQS 450+ has all what you need.

Haha nice, mercedes seems to be as buggy as MEB... anyway still a great looking car tho. Needs some updates, nothing impossible

Looking forward to your i7 review, everyone that has driven it has been absolutely blown away.

@@hardywoodaway9912 Not entirely sure what you mean, but Bjron has been testing EVs for almost a decade now. The i7 is a step above the existing EV luxury sedans, makes the EQS seem like a toy, it's literally that big of a difference in chassis and power train tuning. BMW is not holding back, just look at the iX it's arguably the benchmark in luxury EV SUV.

Absolute bonkers car in specs, however, I don’t like the looks. Too much like a ‘disco’ for me. I like the Tesla’s better. Personal preference of course. Thanks for another cool vid! 😎

You can choose nicer colors. It looks amazing.

If the rear engine isnt used, the temperature should go down..... You drove on the front engine which was colder? I dont trust those animation so much

I can afford to lose a kidney but not a testy I wish they would let us spec a upper level car with smaller wheels. An example In uk we have the Megane E mid and launch edition come with 20" bottom entry is 18". Just not interested and at £40k it's too much we only get the long range battery and small information screen,inside it feels like a basic family car to me nothing. Special I Want to see what you think.

Thanks for that video I was wondering to replace my model S plaid, since it is really low build quiality, but that mercedes does exactly 10 KW/100 km more than my Tesla Plaid, I cruised yesterday with 120 km/h tempo, on 6 Celsius and heavy rain and was avaraging about 17kw/100km

You can change the colour to white and dim it if you don't like it so it becomes almost invisible. (will show a bit at night still though)
