    To use the analogy of a 95% correction, I would say that if a person (especially a beginner) could only watch ONE video in a lifetime about paint correction, this would be it. It covers 95% of everything anyone would need to know. You dealt with paint, glass, and finicky piano black pillars. You showed large panels, small trim areas, flat areas, and curved ones. Moreover, you dealt with the mental aspects about setting goals and taking breaks to stay fresh, and your calm, reassuring demeanor was evident even on your EIGHTH try to get the polishing combo right. Even hobbyists like me get hot and tired and start looking for shortcuts, knowing that we shouldn't. Setting short-term goals and rewards is so smart and healthy. But, the part I liked best was when you talked about the proper philosophy of being knowledgeable, understanding, skillful, and RESPECTFUL when detailing. You are a true craftsman, an artist who genuinely cares about his work, taking pride in every aspect. Thank you for your many contributions to all of us, hobbyists and professionals alike.

    Detailing is a mental and physical challenge all day and every day. Every time there is a new car coming in the process starts again and again. It’s extremely difficult to offer high standard results but when you love your job you try to make it happen every day.

    Not only are these videos the most helpful, clear and in my opinion beautifully edited car detailing videos on the Net, they are always packed with invaluable information to detailers at all levels I should imagine. Above all the work ethic is one I aspire to replicate. Methodical, efficient and the best finish possible. It might be me in my garage but I don't take enough breaks. And the best bit, even though the customer didn't opt for it, the polish of the glass to deliver a complete package to the customer. As a sidenote, I decided to watch this, with a tea, instead of starting my second detailing project, the first polish on my daily. I can't wait to hear the noise of masking tape being unravelled!

    My hats off to you Sandro. I've always thought "Man, this dude complicates the process too much" while watching you always start out with a super light, unaggressive combo in the first section where I go "he KNOWS that's not gonna work". Then you get to the second section and I think "He ALSO KNOWS that's not gonna work either" etc. Yet you continue to try it out and be consistent with your process, even when you have a good idea of what combo's actually gonna have a better chance of getting you where you want. Since you've been so consistent in not just jumping to that combo that you know will just have that bigger chance of success, and instead, trying out A HEAP of options I would never even have considered, you have gained enough feedback/knowledge from different pads and compounds that have allowed you to truly give you excellent results in one step even when the paint just doesn't want to allow it. Now I'm not there personally so I can't tell for certain, but I might have turned that job into a 2 step if I didn't get what I wanted relatively quickly (albeit with a very easy and quick 2nd stage) after trying a few combos out to try and one step it. You sir, are very dialed in. Edit: Polishing the glass is always super satisfying :) it gives it that REAL clean/new look and makes whatever you put on it bead like crazy. 2nd Edit: Wow, you just spoke about what I just said about you in the video where I finally decided to say it! Wtf is going on here?! (if you're a little confused, I commented my original comment after watching the bonnet polishing, then the edit was when he was doing the glass, and then he started talking about what I basically just commented on the original post. It's such a weird coincidence!

    Lol, I love the progression of this comment!! I know it’s almost a privilege to be able to test as much as I do but it’s just been such a valuable source of information for me personally that isn’t always about getting to that right combination ASAP, it’s about learning as much along the way and that helps me justify it as well as being able to share it with others.

  • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    2 жыл бұрын

    That’s great to hear! Remember that no coating is permanent or resistant to defects, so it will wear off and your paint will gather new defects during the coatings life span, so I wouldn’t worry too much about some minion defects you can only see in strong direct light, and being that it was you’re first time coating, if that’s the only negative you can point out, I’d say you did a great job! If you really want to you can compound off the coating and remove the defects you missed and then replay the coating just on that whole panel.

    Someone introduced to be doing a finnish polish twice and it will enhance the final shine. I don't see anyone talking about doing that. Have you ever tried it and would that be a better way to get a brilliant finnish as opposed to chasing more correction?

  • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    2 жыл бұрын

    If you’re struggling to get a great cut and finish in a single step then repeating a finishing step can certainly help to achieve a brilliant finish. But if you already have achieved a brilliant finish the first time, repeating it won’t do do anything but remove more paint. There’s so many variables in paint correction and it’s also changed a lot in the past couple of decades so that we can now get such better correction in a single step that just wasn’t possible in the past. But that also requires you to think and work differently and do a lot of testing in order to get there 🙂

  • @CarCraftAutoDetailing

    Making sure it’s perfectly clean is the real goal. If you can work cleanly and avoid or addresses dust and dirt during the correction process then there’s no need to wash it - the less the you touch and mess with the paint after correction the better. However if the vehicle does become covered in dust dirt and so on during correction then I would advise washing it as you don’t want to do an IPA wipe over dirty dusty paint.
