    Mercedes tech here. I always use die grinder on the inner race that sticks on the hub. Then when I am almost through the race I smack it with big chisel and hammer, it will crack and come off by hand

    THANK YOU!!! So much for a [COMPLETE] video process. The most irritating things I have experienced with this project. Is one where an individual beings a video and then when the going its complex. They edit and return with a completed project and then back track explaining their way through.

    Where did you buy your parts & do you know the correct Flange diameter?

    Can you remove the front differential without removing the engine subframe? I have e350 2014 4matic with front humming noise wheel bearing are good and tires. The only thing that is suspected is front differential.

    Thanks for the video, really helped alot! Quick question, at 36:06 did you install the bearing backwards? Remember that rubber seal that you removed at 29:18? It was facing the front of the knuckle wasn't it?

    Followup question, did you get any speed sensor issues?

    Sorry for the late reply, so that was not a seal and was the snap ring, which has to be removed before you can press the bearing out. The bearing was installed correctly however, not backwards.

    Waiting on this reply. I just recently completed my bearing and an axle replacement due to torn boot. Was hard to determine which was the issue as it is my sister's w212 4matic. Even though we put all 4 wheels in the air and let coast; the noise was coming from closer to engine side, as well as near the hub; it was making a hideous noise; both were bad.. 1 probably led to the other failing.. Anyways, hope the bolt wasn't torque to yield, cause the axle came with a new hex bolt, I put the old torx back on as it looked to be in good condition, torqued it until I basically had to put my body weight on it. 🤷🏾‍♂️

    I'm lost on the process taken, please let me know why not use the press off the top? ??the knuckle had to come off anyway! !!guess because the hub is getting reused but tooooooooo much work for such a cheap part???

    Now tell me how a press helps anyone outside a shop? Oh I guess youtube is for shop professionals as well? Idk why I ever held you guys to such a high standard, assuming you're the mechanic, you shouldn't be the target audience for a bearing replacement. I'm a home wrencher, I'm glad he didn't use the press, as I dont have 1. He showed both which was great, if I had space in my garage, I'd probably buy a press, as they are really cheap, but why buy something you'll probably use once a year?

    I don't have the on-vehicle press, just have my own press from harbor freight. I'm not a shop, it's my own vehicle.

    When replacing the bearing, does the race have to replaced as well?

  • @brenth7774

    Yea, it’s a one piece bearing.

    @@brenth7774 hmm, race is actually part of the hub right? So if I have a worn bearing, i should just skip replacing the hub and just press the bearing out of the knuckle?

  • @brenth7774

    @brenth7774

    Жыл бұрын

    @@AnontheGOAT No, the whole bearing presses onto the hub, or you're pressing the hub into the bearing. When you say hub, I assume you're meaning the flange where the wheel bolts to right? 38:15 is what has to be done. At 14:10 is where I removed the race from the flange. That race is part of the one-piece bearing however, I used the slide hammer to pull it out. Hope that makes sense.

    @@brenth7774 So I have an w212 4matic. I think my front right bearing is shot. I ordered one to replace it - but it’s the one you did at 38:00. I didn’t order the race as I wasn’t aware of it needing to be replaced if a bearing goes bad. So my question is, why did replace the race and the bearing instead of just the bearing?

  • @brenth7774

    @brenth7774

    Жыл бұрын

    nah so that's actually just one piece bearing, it came apart and left the race on the flange - there's no separate race. You'll need to press it in that order though to avoid damaging the bearing. So press into the knuckle first from the outer race, then support the inner race while you press the hub in. hope that helps.

    Thats A Whole Lotta Work ! 😅 Instead Of Taking Everything Off Couldnt Mercedes Just Have Da Whole Wheel Bearing Component Assembly Come On And Off For An Easier Replacement ???? Most Of His Time Went Towards Taking Off Da Bearings Anyways Great Mechanical Job 🤙
