I think 18in AMG monoblock wheels to keep it period correct or Brabus 18in monoblock wheels. These wheels suit the lines of the W124 coupe beautifully

Honestly it's perfect the way it is. With the aero 2 wheels it currently has, if a more pronounced dish and lip combo is what you are looking for then the aero 3 would be the correct way to go for a OE look. Oz futura or bbs Rs /Rf would be the correct aftermarket options. Car is super clean though 👀

Had one of these for over 20 years, that one is lovely, I have engine envy! Please don’t fit the aftermarket kit, they fit like crap. Colour code the bottom half, good stance and classy rims is all it needs. And those split rim AMGs you have are super desirable, someone will pay big money for those. These cars are built like tanks, you need to cut a hatch out under the first aid box if you want bass to get through from the boot, discreet and works well. And you need subtle door builds, tiny 12cm speaker apertures all round so a bid hole in the sound spectrum unless you can get some mid bass up front. Can’t wait to see what you do with this car 😎

My personal thoughts on mods: OEM look on the outside Air ride suspension Clean audio setup inside to complement the high quality interior Modern era wheels with an increase in rim size.

Dam you for get how good these old skool classics looked! So much character/charm with them compared to these bland modern cars. That looks & sounds a hell of a deal for under 10k!! You shouldn't lose on it anyway!

this is the dream for me.

Nice useable Classic. OEM+ all the way. Nice little cruise down the Hayes bypass. I remember when that was built and a load of cars got done for speeding but all their tickets were cancelled as the speed limit on the road didn’t come into effect until the next day. Lots of memories.

Normal are 18inch but 19” Amg monoblocks would look 🤩🤯👌🏽

id say audio wise id go for a flip up touchscreen head unit and some upgraded speakers and a small active subwoofer in the boot and swap out tha 80s fake wood steering wheel and trim for matching exterior colour wheels idea would be something no else has like one off custom image wheels and definitely bag it on air lift and definitely cliford alarm is a must have with such a classic mercedes coupe

All 124s with 3 litres or more displacement have the double-piston fixed caliper brake. They need an enormous amount of space. That's why the rim spider must have a large offset or sit far to the outside. I don't know of any rims with a classic outer bed that fit without sheet metal work. There are many beautiful rims on our planet, but finding suitable rims for the 124 Coupè with 320 engine is a pain in the ass. I know what I am talking about. I have been driving a 94 C124 with M104 for 2 years and am currently facing exactly this problem.

currently restoring one, been stuck in a garage for 2 years waiting for it to be returned after the head gasket needed to be changed and timing chain snapped on the test drive.

What wheel specs are currently on when you bought these?

Do the wheels catch when on a full load and hard cornering? AMG fitted wing spacers to allow wider tyre sizes. If you fit front wing spacers the mudflaps would not line up, nor would the bottom Saccho cill panel, unless you fit the AMG side valance panel. Unfortunately you can’t buy them. And the copies don’t replicate the jacking tube covers properly. It’s a conundrum. The factory speakers in the car have no bass. Fitting some discreet bass speakers that look oem is not going to be cheap. However Jehnert make custom colour matched door speaker conversions that replace the door card bottom panel that looks really good with 4 speakers per side plus crossovers. Cost about £1k from Jehnert with speakers. Please don’t fill the boot with boom box stuff. Keep it subtle. A flip out head unit that can adjust to miss the heater controls in conjunction with a spacer looks good. I know purists will want a Becker original, but the technology has moved on. I don’t like the untrimmed black metal side hinge plates on the Recaros. They need colour coding or trimming if possible. Can’t comment on the rear model demarcation badge position, but if you rename it, the E36 might be better than a E360 as the E36 was at least used by MB /AMG on their 3.6l collaboration. The Sportline badge on the sides has been applied slightly too high. The front wings need replacing. No point in patching them when they only cost £440 a pair from MB. The steering wheel and the auto selector walnut infill panel need ditching. Also swap the gear knob for a Sportline one. They look a lot better. Taking the car out for a drive I notice that the oil pressure is dropping to 2.5 bar. Normally I expect it to not budge off 3bar when being driven. The front number plate should be attached with 4 stainless steel screws, one at each corner, and not double sided tape, to be period correct. The front bumper has lost the towing point cover, and both bumpers need refurbishment. Don’t ditch the mud flaps as gravel strips the paint off the plastic panels over time. The car is lowered from standard Sportline height, so the ride quality will be too hard for a lot of people. Did this car come with the sports chassis option 653 on the build spec on the slam plate panel badge in the first place? However it’s your car, you paid for it, so it’s your choice entirely. Personally I would turn everything back to stock including the engine. As far as wheels go, I think that the original 8 Hole ones in Sportline size were well suited to the car as it came out of the factory. These wheels were 15” 7j and gave a very comfortable ride even on sports chassis. Fitting larger wheels makes the car look tubby and shorter, whereas the originals make the car look longer and sleeker. Even 16” wheels destroy the original sleekness. I see the MOT expired yesterday, so how is the progress coming along? I’m looking forward to seeing what you will be coming up with.

Thats a really tidy 124. Try get the 90's period correct AMG steering wheel.

Do you guys think that a 230ce w124 in original condition, 1 owner, 287000km (like 200k-230k miles) and all the maintenance done (it's in a very nice condition) is worth 3200 bucks?? It's within range, overprice, bargain.... Thanks!!

I'd get a set of Jehnert doorbaords for the audio. I just picked some up for my S124 and they're amazing. I do realize this video is a bit old so you've probably already chosen what you're going to do.

Definitely a good buy 👍

Please don't bag it, for two reasons: this is a classic car, leaving it original is always the right choice! Second, one of the best things that make these cars great is the incredible suspension and ride quality; furthermore, this is a sportline version, which means it already has a lower and harder suspension than the normal ones.

Get the AMG kit on.. Many good rep kits out there now for the 124.. cant believe the spec on this coupe. ive had a few of these, and currently have a R129 500 slammend on CLS AMG's..

OEM+ ..One thing that should be done is change the rear badge too E360, (should be able to get the 6 from the MB parts bin. ) It will make people look twice, and once the hood is popped people will appreciate it.

You do have the 3.6 AMG engine which is super rare and can actually sell It as a AMG and it would attract more buyers as well especially what ever plans you have two have in mind to upgrade and make it more awesome Then it is!!
